Multiple Canadian accounting students face the issue of having prerequisite coursework expire, requiring them to retake classes. One user suggests paying for a transcript assessment to avoid surprises and potential delays in pursuing their CPA designation. This points to an opaque or inflexible system for assessing prior learning.

First attempt was a rank 3 second attempt was a rank 2 but feels like my first result was better as I was competent in both Tax and assurance mcq’s and everything else pretty much stayed the same. starting a new job soon and it feels weird having to tell my new employers “hey I’ve failed the first exam twic”

“Hi guys, does anyone have any experience with readmission/reinstatement to CPAWSB PEP program (CPA Western School of Business) due to non-payment of dues? What has been your experience like and have you been successful? I just submitted my transcript request. I completed some PEP mods so worried about losing that credit and working on the experience requirements too submitted by /u/Dizzy-Wolverine9168 [link] [comments]”

“Any thoughts on the CPA Knowledge Assessment Essentials course offered through CPAWSB or the Knowledge Assessment course offered at UofT? Seems the essentials course is only offered from Jan 2027. submitted by /u/Early_Note_8001 [link] [comments]”

“I’d pay the $310 to finish in the old program. Starting the new program with no resources and people to learn from would be awful. You are so close to being done.”

“Anyone have better options than the CPD course offered by the CPA? We need 4 hours over a 3 year period. This fucking course is....3 hrs! WTF. $379 for 3 hours. https://preview.redd.it/65fchtetcroh1.png?width=1346&format=png&auto=webp&s=19ee6ee00ebdcbcfad8082cd7a90e2467620ce85 submitted by /u/DL505 [link] [comments]”

“This happened to me. My degree was over 10 years old and I had to repeat 3. I was 30 days over the cut off. My suggestion would be to pay the $170 to get a transcript assessment ASAP to know where you stand. You might be surprised that they took more courses than you thought and as long as you are assessed they give you 1 year to apply before more classes expire. It was difficult to upgrade but I did it and currently in Core 2. If you wait any longer the door will close on doing your CPA so just”
