“For context, my SAT score right now is a 1400(780 math/620 EBRW) GPA : 3.76 and I’m pretty confident in myself that if I retake it, I can increase my English score and hopefully with a more competitive as sat score I’m applying to a lot of T 30s and T 35s and maybe a little bit…”

Several applicants express concern about their lack of SAT scores and how it impacts their chances of acceptance to selective universities like Princeton and USC. They are unsure whether to apply test-optional or if doing so is a waste of time, especially given their other strong qualifications.

“Hi everyone, I have a 1460 SAT (680 EBRW, 780 Math). I think I did better on the October SAT, but those scores won’t be out until 10/16. Should I apply EA with my current score, or wait and apply RD with the new one? Any advice would be appreciated!!! submitted by /u/LowComedian1551 [link] [comments]”

“Has anyone gotten into a top 20 or NYU or USC with low stats but good ecs and essays?? Please give me your story and what school you got into. My story: I would say I have good ECs (national awards, international org., published research, research assistant, millions of views (content creator)) and great essays. But I genuinely lack good stats. (1400 SAT, 4.0 GPA, 6 DE (school offers no APs)). I'm retaking the SAT in November, and I honestly have not been studying for it that much. I don&#39”

“Hi! I'm really conflicted about what my best option is and would appreciate some advice. Yale is my absolute first choice, and I would choose Yale over any other school if I got in. However, I recently missed the October SAT because of a misunderstanding with the testing center, so I‘ve registered for the November SAT. I have a strong FGLI profile. My current SAT superscore is 1250, but I've been scoring around 1400 on practice tests, and I will likely reach that score on the November SA”

“Hello! Early Action season is here and I'm all over the place currently. I want to major in Mechanical Engineering for the most part but I am concerned that my SAT score may be a hinderance for a lot of the colleges I'm thinking about applying to. My unweighted 100pt GPA is 99.011 and weighted is 102.341 as of my most recent transcript. I am from a low income family and a first generation American. Some of the colleges I'm thinking about applying to include: - Penn State - Ohio State”

“I am currently applying REA to Princeton and they require collegeboard-reported scores for the sat. My superscore is a 1490, with 790 math, but I am worried about the individual scores they will see. One sat is 700 english and 680 math and the other sat is 570 english and 790 math. Do you think it matters that the two tests have low scores for the math and english. Princeton doesn't superscore but they take the highest from the scores you send, so Im not sure if this is fine. submitted”

“Hello I wanted to know how many people went test-optional for USC when applying and got accepted. I’m a bit scared since a lot of people who got accepted submitted their SATs. submitted by /u/oenocio [link] [comments]”

“I’m applying as a math major for USC EA and I know this score is low but my sub scores are 650-R&W 770-math. So i feel like the math score would be helpful. Let me know any advice. submitted by /u/Such-Incident5813 [link] [comments]”

“Hi yall I took the September sat where I scored a 1350. I plan on applying to an arts school (SCAD, UNCSA, Carnegie, SAIC). Will a 1350 ruin my chances? I have 3.95 gpa, some strong APs and my activities show my determination to the arts. I’m just not sure how much of a difference a sat score will make from the admissions perspective and wanted to know if I should push for something higher or let it be. Any advice helps!
