“What is usually cheaper: bodywork and repainting, or buying a replacement part from a salvage yard and having a body shop install it? https://preview.redd.it/wbolk39mcxuh1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=cf5b7df63b3972f3ecbc2c230091940ad50553a8 submitted by /u/tonisheg [link] [comments]”
“If you want it to look good, take it to a shop. You tear the rocker moulding trying to get it off? [re: Do I need to take this to a shop to fix or is it possible to do a home?]”
“Check out the Lakeside Autobody channel on YouTube. [re: Is it worth paying a shop to fix rust?]”
“There are people making a living off these type of repairs, its just not as cheap as doing it yourself. Safety check if selling your vehicle will automatically fail this [re: How would you go about repairing this on a 2013 Honda Accord?]”
“That thing isnt worth repairing unless it has sentimental value. If you decide to try your not fixing it at home it needs a bench or rack n some pulls [re: Help]”
“They can do it, they will charge you. Needs quite a bit of work. [re: Is this bumper ok to give my bodyshop?]”
“That’s terrible advice, if you’ve never done body work a simple task for us means a lot of headache for you if you’ve never done it. [re: Is this bumper ok to give my bodyshop?]”
“I mean would it hurt to use after market parts? It’s would save you a tremendous amount I’m sure as opposed to OEM [re: On a scale of 1-10 how dumb am I?]”
“If you can locate parts, replace, body work, paint and have the tools then you can fix this. It will always be worth it if you can do it yourself, but if you brought this to a shop it would be way too much to repair it nicely. [re: Stupid purchase?]”
“Labor isn’t cheap fixing the pillar you might be better off selling it for parts honestly. [re: Stupid purchase?]”
“You should be able to hit any part of the frame hard with a ball peen hammer without putting holes in the frame. Not light scratches with a screwdriver. This is mot as bad as I originally thought. Long as the side rails are better than that rear cross brace. [re: Frame rust]”
“Yeah, I work at one. Maybe I misunderstood why you bought the car. It’s not to own then right? It’s to resell for a profit? [re: Stupid purchase?]”
“Not bad. If you can have it up and running for 9 + 10k, why not? Not terrible cars, trust there is a lot worse [re: Stupid purchase?]”
