“Then let the customer take the car and reschedule the job. If that crucial part was not in the building or confirmed enroute rhey shouldn’t have even started. I would see no issue letting the customer drive this till parts are available”
“You’re probably right – most likely unintentional and may not even realize they did it. Go get a few quotes from different places – hope you get it fixed without issue.”
“Just a thought for the future. One man's light scratch is another man's caved in door. With no pictures of the damage and asking for a reasonable price is a magic trick I have not learned. The bed needs to come off because you can't paint the cab corner with it on. Door skins…”
Several users express suspicion that an autobody shop made an error, but they have no concrete evidence to support their claims. They acknowledge the courtesy of the shop owner calling back and admitting fault in one instance, while others lament the difficulty in proving mistakes.

“the plate says it all really, tstnprd kuors frame is a nice touch, like a badge of honor for breaking things in the most visible way possible”
“Could it be that the person who performed this job has pride in his work? Maybe like to see it done right? Thats what I think”
“Call that dude back lol. Imagine that a mobile mechanic or body job going wrong lol. I know there are good ones out there but man”

“This is actually cheap. They missed a lot of items. Pre and post scans. Alignment. Etc”
“Be that as it may, everyone that is familiar with the industry knows what that operation eludes to. Color sand and buff is a relic from the lacquer days. The assertion that this customer is being fleeced and the painter sucks is far out of pocket. As stated, verbiage matters to insurance companies, it’s fair to assume the shop deals primarily with them and the repair estimate reflects common practice.”

“Yeah, now days with the internet even more grifter are learning how to do a temporary fix and flip a car than ever before. Some of the quick and dirty jobs will look fine for a while... but when they don't do it the right way this is one of the things that can happen. Your only real hope for someone cover the repair is if the dealer claimed the car was never in an accident and you could prove he lied. I still remember buying a brand new Honda years ago... then when a shopping car put a dent”
“I don't want to believe him. I do believe him but part of me was going he was just being overly cautious”
“I don't think you got scammed. The shop quality just not that great. The gap looks too tight and the color is a bit off but plastic and metal never 100% match. Just go back to the shop and tell them it doesn't look good. If its a reputable shop they will honor their warranty”
“Sure you did buddy. It’s okay to not know something. If you had known about the plastic repair kits before I mentioned them you would have said that. Not implied lol literally nothing wrong with not knowing. No one can know everything after all. And it definitely could be spot sprayed, aka paint blended out over the repair and yes, the whole bumper would need recleared afterwards. You got that part right.”
“They literally drilled a bunch of holes to pull out the metal and said fuck it. Think about all that work, nevermind the shit repair, when you could have skinned the door.”
“Damn if nobody had any idea it's been repaired before. I want to go to that auto body shop who did the repair.”
“That’s not true, as TABS have direct access to parts that independent shops don’t.”
Glad it worked out, and I hope you don’t get dinged for it
“Hopefully you got a refund and they should pay to have hire someone else who knows what they are doing”
“Oh how I would love to hear the other side of this story. I have never worked at caliber but I've never heard anything like this. Am I saying you are a liar? No, of course not. Just curious how they fucked up your car so badly and won't even talk to you. Your insurance company won't help you either?”
“Seems like they’re trying. From what’s they’ve done already, that’s a solid shop. To be honest I’m not sure what they would have done to make the SUV ride rougher, other than over inflating the tire by mistake (if it needed a rim).”
“this + they werent visible before becasue dealer smeared them with something oily to hide them. (nice dealer btw).”
“I posted a couple days ago about a repair job and got quite the respose. Since then the company came back and tried again. Once again I went up and checked the work and took several photos. The original repair was to remove a satalite dish and patch the holes. submitted by /u/K_wattt [link] [comments]”
“Yeah I stopped in my tracks after spending 2.5 hours on his 3rd row vehicle, because it was well past my time limit for a monthly maintenance at that point. Yes I should of still double checked the interior and got the trunk and cup holders which I stopped abruptly on his car instead of double checking, this was a mistake I offered to rectify. "Maximize my profits" is simply not true. A service is not free, my time effort and work is not free. Maybe yours is not mine. My options are ra”
“I never ever asked him for a discount. I just asked him to detail my car. I want his side gig to succeed.”
Brother don't worry about stupid dings or the shit will drive you crazy. This has to be the stupidest ding to get fixed. I feel like if you paid $500 to get…
It’s pretty obvious that is new damage. Like, painfully obvious.
“Did a quarter replacment last week on a Yukon. Fuckin dresser in the third row. Sideways”
“You’re probably right – most likely unintentional and may not even realize they did it. Go get a few quotes from different places – hope you get it fixed without issue.”
“Brother, you are the guy at every collision center or shop that gets the most flack. I get it. You get paid to follow what the manufacturer says each and every day, but to not understand that a SCRATCH on the front bumper that SCUFFED the paint off didn’t cause 8k worth of damage is common sense. And you realize this is Reddit? Mils is also a unit to measure water. Ask any doctor about Mils as well. Idk why I’m even continuing. Have a great day pal.”
“This story and those like it are why I detail my car. I don't trust random detailers. Too many people open their own business with no clue about how to do the job, or lack the attention to detail necessary to do it if they have the skills. Sorry that you had this happen.”
