“Love our WEN generator. Start it every two months. But rarely have to use it. When we do; I have to run an extension cord into the house via the sliding kitchen door. We can't lock the door then... Feels very unsafe. Want to find a product / device that I can install into the…”
“We are building a loft ladder for an offgrid cabin. I’ve seen some vintage ladders with round dowel handrails that look nice/functional (attaching an example here). Wondering if anyone has built something like this? Not sure where we’d find the elbow brackets… they seem pretty…”
“How would you fix this the simplest/easiest way? I need to put a handrail there to meet code. Looks like the bottom isn’t high enough. I don’t want to break the drywall and reframe … :/”
Carpenters are facing challenges related to design implementation, structural inconsistencies (like uneven stairs), and finding solutions for practical issues like generator cord access. They also seek advice on organization without traditional tool belts.

“Found a nice area under my stairs for storage, but now would like to add a door to hide and basically finish the area. Any tips? submitted by /u/Distinct-Answer-6109 [link] [comments]”
“I know, Winder stairs are generally frowned upon. But to conserve space, this is designed. Do you think it will be uncomfortable to use?what is your experience? submitted by /u/unsolicited_idea [link] [comments]”
“In my downstairs WC there is something boxed in, but its only half way up the wall. Does anyone know what is behind here? Why would it only go half way up the wall? submitted by /u/Number60nopeas [link] [comments]”
“Would anyone have recommendations on the design for this smaller space? Ceiling and adjacent walls are going to be shiplap. I do like the idea of trim boards and built-ins like the attached picture. submitted by /u/Stacik_24 [link] [comments]”
“Running out of ideas what to do in this corner. Making it up as I go and am not sure how to proceed here need flashing at some point to the left but unsure how to terminate the hip shingles submitted by /u/Accomplished-Tie557 [link] [comments]”

Feels very unsafe. Want to find a product / device that I can install into the wall. (Yes, cutting a hole all the way thru the wall) This device would allow a 10 gauge extension cord to pass thru the wall and hug the cord. Thus blocking insects and cold air. And it would allow us to lock the door!”
“I made a post a few days ago asking for recommendations for tool belts meant for trimming and remodeling more than rough framing. Lots of folks mentioned that they don’t wear a tool belt ever after drywall, which makes sense. That said, part of the appeal to a toolbelt to me is that I can stay organized and everything is where I expect it to be, and without one I tend to spread things everywhere, especially if I’m moving around doing big runs of trim, and that I don’t put anything on the floor.”
“The claim is it can’t be fixed because: “nothing is perfectly leveled in regard to these stairs. The pitch isn’t consistent throughout the stairs. In a perfect world each spindle would be the same length - but in our case we had to cut each one to its individual length so it will fit between the railing and the stairs (consistent pitch will require the same cut for all spindles) In other words - the slightly off level posts are gonna have to remain this way since we’re tying to an already existi”
