“my 4 y/o sphinx cat has been throwing up a lot(no blood, mostly water, foam, and when he had eaten, some of his food too.) i moved into an apartment around early august and my theory is that he got into the sink water and that it’s not good for him(since he didn’t have this kind…”
“My short haired mutt cat is 6.5yo. Her whole life she’s had a puking issue. Sometimes it’s a little. Sometimes a lot. Almost every single day. Sometimes there’s a hairball but more often it’s food. Occasionally water or bile. Usually undigested food. But then sometimes looks…”

Several cat owners report their cats experiencing daily vomiting, even when treated with cerenia. Veterinarians have been unable to identify a cause through bloodwork and ultrasounds, leaving owners concerned about ongoing vet costs and the cat's well-being.

“I have a 17 year old female cat. She’s 18 in 3 months and deals with hyperthyroidism and kidney disease. She still eats a lot but does not drink enough water at all. She is pretty thin and I’m scared her quality of life will not get better. I’m getting guilted into keeping her here but I’m scared that would be for my sake. I have so many mixed emotions and don’t know if I’m making the right decision. Is it bad to put your pet down before the quality of life drastically decreases? I’ve been doing”
“My Cammy girl is 14 years old. She has been known to hack a hairball or throw up more often than any other cat I’ve had. But always been a super healthy and happy cat. For a couple years she thrown up every single day. Took her to the vets when the daily vomitting started and vet found no issues. Flash forward to this month and she’s vomiting blood daily and has diarrhea with blood in it. Rushed her to the vets. They took urine sample, stool sample and blood work. Urine sample had 6-20 crystals”
“My cat is 10 years old at this point and she’s spent a good portion of her life just being a perpetual vomiter from dry and wet food. Vets have said there isn’t much we can do. So far we’ve - worked her up for a cancer diagnosis (nothing came back concerning) - tried a hydrolyzed protein diet with prescription food - feed smaller meals, more frequently - added more hydration to wet foods I’m at a loss of what else to do. It’s never a specific brand of food or flavor or texture of food. Any sugge”
“My cat is around 24 years old - we've had her since a kitten, but it was such a long time ago that we are not 100% certain on her age.... She has hypothyroidism, kidney disease, a heart murmur, and arthritis. She receives solensia injections (though slightly delayed this month) and is on Leventa. She has had both of these for many years. She has been relatively well recently, though she sleeps more often and has lost a little weight. Over the last week or so she has also started going to the”
“Hello, My 13 year old orange cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism this summer. He had been losing weight, vomiting frequently, and ravenous about food. His level was measured at 14. We started oral methimazole but he kept breaking out and scratching his face. We tried pausing a restarting to no avail. Then, we switched to transdermal methimazole. He seemed to tolerate it well, but after 2 months, his level is unchanged and he’s symptomatic again. Our vet wants him to get I-131 treatment, and i”
“I have a senior, 11 yo short hair female cat. When we went camping, our friend who pet sits them (2 dogs, 2 cats) was giving her Fancy feast senior about 2 tbsp a day. Just a little treat for her from her. She has been eating kibbles all her life (4health brand.) When we came back, I noticed her puking in the middle of the night. I have been cleaning up puke almost every night. I kept track of it and she usually puke 5-6 hrs after her last meal, throw up has the consistency of mushy, digested ki”
“My cat (3) has had chronic vomiting (every 3 days, stops for a day, and begins again for another 3) for a year. I’ve had her since she was born, these issues began when she was 2. Blood tests ruled out any abnormalities with internal function; food allergy ruled out by HA Pro-Plan for months to no effect, except losing 2 lbs. unfortunately. The vet has suggested switching to wet food only. It has been a week of only wet food (Fancy Feast shrimp and salmon.) Now she has diarrhea every single day.”
“I am sure this is a topic that has been addressed time and time again, but I'd like some fresh responses if possible! My senior cat has been on laxatives (Miralax) for about a year. At this point it seems like he's reliant on it. He does not poop without it. But it's not without its drawbacks: the dosage has to be just right or else he'll start leaking up until he has a huge poop (kinda like an enema). He hasn't used the litterbox consistently ever since he became constipated”
“First vet visit was when he vomited 5x in 3 hrs. Doc checked blood chem and found nothing out of ordinary. Doc injected Cerenia but he vomited 3x again in the afternoon. Went to emergency vet for xray but everything is normal, doesn’t look like there is a foreign object digested. We had him admitted overnight so he could replenish his nutrients but he’s still lethargic now and won’t eat. I was prescribed with royal canine gastrointestinal food, maropitant and thrombopro. Do you have any other su”
“First time posting here, my cat, Theo, has been constantly throwing up for the past couple of months on a semi-regular basis. We're really worried about him but he's acting perfectly normal! He has been a little extra affectionate recently, though. Bloodwork has come out perfectly clean and all our vet has said is to keep him on hairball kibble and wet food. But all the wet food is doing is giving him smelly diarrhea 😭 We honestly don't know what to do at this point and sadly costs”
“Our cat vomited 3-4 times on Wednesday. She could not keep any food down but otherwise drinking water and using the litter box normally and acting more or less herself. My boyfriend took her to the urgent vet Thursday because by that time she still couldn’t keep any food down and was now slightly lethargic, her ears were red and warm, and not interested in her favorite treat. The urgent vet gave her anti-nausea meds and fluids. She ate some food when she got home and kept it down. Friday, she wa”
“Male, 5Y, long haired domestic, neutered, Our cat won’t stop vomiting, he vomits at least once a day, maybe twice a day. It’s sometimes this liquidy brown color and sometimes clear. It seems like he vomits instantly, like he has no chance to move away. It also seems like it’s projectile. It’s been going on for 2 months now. We’ve taken him to the vet and they ruled out Feline Leukemia, infection, any disease that would be in his stool, and feline HIV. They also put him on Science diet sensitive”
“hi, i have an 8 year old cat, he constantly pukes. he’s not sick he just throws up for no reason. he used to do better when he first got his hair ball medicine but now he keeps doing it again. mind you he didn’t start doing this until about a year ago. he had thrown up a hair ball once prior to this. it’s almost daily now and sometimes it’ll be like 5/6 times in a few hours. idk what to do anymore, i can’t keep him if he’s throwing up on my stuff all the time. submitted by /u/Bunnsie”
“I have an older cat about 18 years old. He won't eat or drink, he is a bit lethargic and slightly unsteady on his feet and swallows somewhat frequently. I can hear him doing it every now and then but he won't touch his food. I have a vet appointment for tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. but would it be worth it to try and syringe feed him a liquid meal replacement or even just some water before then? I'm not certain he ate anything yesterday though I do believe he ate Wednesday. su”
“hi! My 7 year old female cat was diagnosed with pancreatitis and a gallbladder disease after two long weeks of vomiting. Took her to regular vet 1. they did fluids and cerenia and she was still vomiting and so they tried barium to do a scan and she threw it up 2. they then did abdominal surgery to rule out foreign object and found nothing 3. sent her home and she still wasn’t eating for 5 days so took her to get an ultrasound 4. confirmed pancreatitis and did steroids, and fluids and antibiotics”
“My 11 year old cat has vomited a few times today and Im not sure what to do. This morning around 9 he started acting strange (would lay down then get back up and pacing, seemed really uncomfortable) and after about 30 mins of that he threw up what looked like undigested food (he’d eaten his normal breakfast at 7). After he vomited he laid down and slept until I left for work at 12:30 and when I got home at 3:30 he was laying on the floor upstairs in a room he doesnt normally go in and had thrown”
“my cat rocket is almost 3, is only 9 pounds, neutered, and has allergies. he just recently moved from florida to live with me in arizona, and after moving has just started his antibiotics for his allergies about 5 days ago. we aren't sure what he's actually allergic to, but he's taking prednisolone and cefpodoxime. he's been eating, drinking, and playing as normal. i'm thinking constipation but he just has diarrhea about two days ago. he threw up last night and his tummy is s”
“Hey all. I have Rosy, a 16yo female (spayed) Domestic Shorthair, experiencing recurring diarrhea and vomiting despite treatment. Usually ~8lbs, down to ~6.5lbs (gradual weight loss and mild muscle wasting over recent months). Current Meds/Suppl.: Prednisolone, Proviable DC (probiotic). Previously given Ondansetron and Metronidazole as needed/in courses. “My 8 year old spayed female long hair cat has been puking clear foamy liquid after and sometimes before using the litter box a couple times a week. Thought it was a hairball but she had one hairball last week and has vomited again since then. She is eating, drinking and playing as usual, peeing as usual and pooping the same as usual for her (soft stools). We took her to the vet a couple of months ago for her soft stools and they ran a blood test and a fecal test and said everything looks great.”
“Hi everyone, I’m really worried about my cat and I’d really appreciate some advice. Today she vomited twice. The first time, my mom told me that she vomited while she was on the bed and then fell off the bed afterward. I didn’t see that episode myself. The second time, I actually saw it happen. She vomited and then seemed to just collapse onto her belly after making a weird yowling sound. Right afterward, she looked very disoriented and scared, and took off to another room. She has also had diar”
“My short haired mutt cat is 6.5yo. Her whole life she’s had a puking issue. Sometimes it’s a little. Sometimes a lot. Almost every single day. Sometimes there’s a hairball but more often it’s food. Occasionally water or bile. Usually undigested food. But then sometimes looks digested too. It’s absolutely insane. Have tried MANY different foods and no differences with them. We have another younger cat that is medium haired and never has an issue. The vets never really ran any tests and just said”

“My cat 6m, neutered, has been vomiting multiple times a day for the last six weeks. We have been to the vet multiple times. We did bloodwork and an ultrasound and they couldn’t find anything. Everytime when he is on cerenia, he stops vomiting. But the moment we stop, he is right at it again. His puking is different everytime, it goes from bile to food and hairballs. He eats less than before, but is still very playful. I don’t know what to do anymore.. I already spend 1300 euros at the vet and ca”
