“My gpa in most current transcript is 4.29 my old one was 4.302. Is this something I need to email over? submitted by /u/Any-Syllabub6481 [link] [comments]”
“My school does weighted gpa. Mine is 4.289, but in common app, I put 4.28. I had to do the stars self reported transcript for a couple schools where I put my actual gpa. Should I email the admissions office for these schools about the discrepancy or should I let it slide? Since my actual gpa is barely a tenth of a point higher than what i put I dont know if it matters... besides, idk if stars accepting colleges even look at the grades I put into common app. So, should I email the admissions offi”
“Hey all, Just realized how the AMCAS calculates GPA and realized it is much lower than I thought, mainly because I struggled early on in college and needed to retake some classes. These got me from low grades up to A's the second time I took them. Just really need some advice. I have a strong GPA now, but after calculating my AMCAS GPA, I am around a 3.15 and do not know what to do. Any advice is beyond appreciated. Sincerely, a very worried premed student. submitted by /u/Fantas”
“Hello everyone, To calculate my med school gpa for AMCAS, AACOMAS gpa for both cGPA and SGPA I used to an online website - medical aid.org/medical-school-gpa-calculator/ I read some posts saying that after people submitted the primary application the verified gpa was a bit different than what people expected. I wanted to know how common or rare is this discrepancy and if there is a way or official website to make sure this doesn’t happen. Is it worth just submitting a primary application at this”
“As the title says, my gpa was upward trended and peaked junior year (3.01 -> 3.50 -> 3.70 -> 3.55) my cumulative is a 3.57 w a 3.53 sgpa. My mcat is a 521 and I’d say I have pretty strong EC hours and am an ORM. How much of a red flag would my gpa look to adcoms and how did my fellow downward trended applicants do in previous cycles? Not even looking to apply t20. Genuinely would be happy at my states flagship med school. Any help is greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/pipe”

“I wasn't studying properly during my first year. As a sophomore my GPA is much higher and should end with at least a 3.3, but I don't think it can bring it high enough to reach 3.0 by next semester.”
“Hi guys. Im applying to schools right now but im not sure if I’ll be competitive with my GPA. Should I use weighted or unweighted? Unweighted:3.5 Weighted:3.9 Don’t know which one looks better or if it even matters. My dad died a month before high school so it impacted my gpa which I will be noting. Thanks. I really appreciate it. submitted by /u/Normal_Stress_9973 [link] [comments]”
“ok so yay co'28 my GPA is around a 3.9 UW but ive never gotten below an A in a class. I got a 91 last cycle in precalc because I was a little rusty but it's back up to a 100 now. regardless, a 91 is still in the books. My old school had 0 Aps and I transferred junior year to a school with 20+ AP classes. Because I was overwhelmed and slightly restricted by credit issues, I'm taking 3 APs and a dual enrollment language (3rd year of same language) and I'm doing great in all of my c”
“Hi! I’m trying to sign up for niche to get their direct admission and stuff but I’m confused if I put my gpa as it is on my transcript or not. My school does it out of 5.0 but niche asks for gpa out of 4.0. I searched on google and it said just to put my gpa out of 5.0. Anyone have any info on what to put? Should i just calculate it myself and convert from 5.0 to 4.0? submitted by /u/Historical-Hold1282 [link] [comments]”
“I was wondering that if, say you are in one bracket for merit scholarships and you get accepted into a college I assume they show you your automatic scholarship amount to entice you to coming to their school. However, if your gpa goes to a higher automatic scholarship or below another does the scholarship automatically change, or if it changes for the better do you need to contact them, or is there no change at all? submitted by /u/Omgaas [link] [comments]”
“I recently found out that not all letter grading scales are the same. For me an A+ is a 4.00 while an A is a 3.66; however, I found out that a school my friend attends has an A at a 4.00. When applying to schools, is this something that they recalculate or consider? If so, which one is “standard,” will my GPA be seen as more favorable or on par with the majority of applicants? submitted by /u/Shot-Translator9476 [link] [comments]”
“hey guys! so i'm moving from india to the usa in march in the middle of my sophomore year after finishing my igcses (I'm in 10th grade rn).. basically my gpa when i was a freshman was bad cos my school is rlly strict in our freshman year so that we lock in for 10th and gpa isn't important in india. anyways, i have a 4.0 gpa now and will prolly get a 4.0 gpa for my final igcse results. so my question is when I transfer, will my gpa be calculated using my gpa from 9th grade as well, or”
“So my GPA is around a 102 (weighted on the 100 scale) which is basically mostly A’s with a few A-‘s and this is the GPA I’m reporting on the common app. Recalculated, it’s around a 3.9+. Even though it’s high by itself, other students in my class have104-106’s. Does that filter me out of Ivy+ colleges? My school isn’t a feeder in any sense but a lot of Ivy+ kids have around there for GPA. I also have higher SAT than most of them if that counts for anything. submitted by /u/Puzzlehead”
“I transfered between states after my freshman year of high school from a school that didn't allow freshmen to take AP classes and heavily discouraged honors to a school where kids could take weighted courses starting in middle school. I also moved to the U.S. a few years ago and neither of my parents studied here before, so they had no idea how weighted GPAs and all that stuff works, so I realized late how important course rigor is. My UW GPA is a 3.8/4, but my weighted is a 4.7/6 and I'”
“sophomore here with a 3.2 GPA. I had a death in the family my freshman year that resulted in a C+ that just,,,ruined my GPA. I have always been an A+, occasional B+ student even in my laziest years. I've done the math and assuming that I keep an A+/A- average throughout the next 3 years, the highest GPA I can get is a 3.6. do I think I can achieve this? I'm cautiously optimistic, but yes. I'm from NYC and am looking to apply to schools like NYU, Sinai, Albert Einstein, and the like.”

“I apologize for the "useless" post but I currently have a 3.40 gpa. Freshman year I had a 2.1 with 5 Ws. Sophmore I have a 4.0 gpa with 0 Ws. I guess what im asking is I want to ask how much freshman year will honestly affect my chances of getting in if I maintain this upward projection. “Here are my stats: (please don't fry my shi) Non weighted GPA - 2.8409 Weighted GPA - 5.3409 Rank - 694 out of 887 My question is, will colleges take more importance to my weighted or non-weighted? My school is on a 6 scale. From my understanding a 5.34 in 4 point scale is a 3.5. Do I technically have a 2.8 or 3.5? Any advice? submitted by /u/bliee23 [link] [comments]”
“Basically title. For the longer story, I'm a rising junior and I've maintained a 4.0 throughout college thus far. I'm taking a GE over summer and I've been doing well in it, I'm on track for an A in the class up to this point with 3 weeks to go. However, I just got decked by major health issues, which forced me to move back home for the rest of summer (which is still fine since the class is async), but I've been absolutely unable to do anything because of my health over t”
“My college does not provide GPA credit for courses taken when the student already has AP Credit for it. I have a 5 on AP Chem, so if I take Gen Chem, I won't get GPA credit for it on my college transcript. However, that GPA shouldn't matter right? But will my AMCAS recalculated GPA include Gen Chem despite my college not including it? submitted by /u/Enough_Prize_5539 [link] [comments]”

“Hi all, I struggled with some personal and mental health issues early on in my college career, which led to a sub-3.0 GPA. However, once I got on the right meds and left an abusive relationship, I got an AA and BA both with 3.8+ GPA. I'm applying to PhD programs this fall. Should I address the lower grades from more than a decade ago? Or just try to focus on my growth and highlight the higher GPAs? Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/belindabellagiselle [link] [comments]”
“How much does Chapel Hill really consider your unweighted GPA? I have a 3.3, but its mainly due to a lot of issues in 9th grade. I was doing virtual school, and I wasn't getting any good support for assignments, 0s were automatically put in, and there were a lot of tech issues. submitted by /u/Fig_The_Bird1256 [link] [comments]”

“Hi guys! I’ll just keep this quick!! My grading system is basically from 1 to 5, with 5 being the lowest. I rank 25/88 in a science high school, and my average is around 1.25. However, I’m confused about how to fill this out because I know that, in the US, a 4.0 GPA is the highest. I’m not really sure what I should put. Someone please help me 😭 shoud i just put GPA scale reporting to none?? help! submitted by /u/Any_Acanthisitta1934 [link] [comments]”
“I just made a post asking about some easier to get into colleges but I was thinking about the college my brother went to, The specific college he went to had an average gpa of a 3.6 but had an 85 acceptance rate, He was nowhere close to a 3.6 I think he might of had a 2.6. He also got accepted in another school with a average 3.8 gpa with 75 acceptance. He was not a good student I know he went for business and he went to one of those career centers but he was nowhere close to even a 3.6 student”
That's been a standard question for at least a decade though.
“I was diagnosed with adhd and medicated in winter of my junior year, and my grades went from around a 3.2 average to a 4.0 with solid test scores immediately after. I'm looking to show strong upward growth on my application, and was wondering if I should wait until my first quarter grades are finalized to fill out the grades section on common app to further this and boost my gpa? submitted by /u/TayKPunchedGrandpa [link] [comments]”
“Hey all, Right now, I'm completing my Bachelors degree in History, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I currently have a 2.6 gpa and I could bring it up to a 2.8 gpa if this semester goes well. I want to eventually apply to and attend graduate school, but most program require a 3.0 minimum for applicants. Grade forgiveness at my university only applies to credits retaken before graduation , and there are a few classes I can take online (CHEM 2 and Global 60s) which would raise my”
“My GPA looks really bad by itself because of a very unintuitive weighting system but my transcript tells the whole story, will colleges dismiss my application or disqualify me from scholarships just because of my GPA or will they take time to analyze my transcript? submitted by /u/Ok_Item_9953 [link] [comments]”

“Context: I am EDing to an Ivy that matches my profile/story extremely well, my school doesn't report rank or UW. However, my unofficial unweighted GPA is a extremely low for an average applicant, being around ~3.75-3.8/4.0 UW with straight mix of B+/A-/A, which was hugely influenced by personal extenuating circumstances in 9th/10th grade. My AP scores took a hit as well, and I dropped hella 4s besides 5s in those years. However, after it ended, I had more time and mental energy to focus on a”
“does anyone know what would happen to my gpa if i took an unscheduled 7th period this year (senior)? i took 1 ap and 4 honors my freshman year, 2 aps and 3 honors my sophomore year, 7 aps my junior year, and now this year I’m stuck at 5 aps and 1 normal class out of my 6 classes. I don’t know what to take for a seventh class my senior year, so i thought I would just take the 7th off, but I’m not sure how it would affect my gpa. I wouldn’t have a class in that period. It would just be straight up”
“genuinely feeling so lost right now! i have a 3.0 sgpa & 3.2 cgpa after graduating. my school gpa was showing a 3.4 cgpa but i used a spreadsheet to calculate my actual gpa (since ig my school calculates it differently) and it calculated those numbers above i’m planning on doing one full year of post bacc- upper level science courses & retaking the courses i didn’t do well in + a masters. i have 2 D’s (retook both), and a lot of C’s :/ my all other gpa is 3.8-3.9. after a post bacc year,”
“Hi all, I would love some input or advice regarding my GPA. My prospective graduate school requires a 3.0 gpa of last 2 years to even apply. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.27, but my GPA from the last two years of undergrad was only 2.98... would this technically round up to 3.0 - does it depend on the school? “does anyone know the last day UC GPA counts? i know it counts for until the end of summer following junior year. but is there a specific date? or is it until the day before my school starts? i know some friends whose summer break ends way later, so i was wondering how this works. thanks! submitted by /u/Dismal-Attempt-8579 [link] [comments]”
“Right now I have about a 3.3 GPA, which isn’t horrible, but it’s far from competitive for most of the colleges I’m looking at. Since all the schools I’m interested in do a holistic review of my application, what things are most likely to offset the lower GPA and show academic effort/intelligence where my GPA falls short? submitted by /u/TomatoMirror [link] [comments]”
“Basically, I took Spanish 1 in 7th grade in a different state before I moved to Texas. However, it didn't even count for high school GPA in that school (I didn't even know what GPA was until I went to high school). Additionally, over there, the grades are placed on a 1-4 scale (you can get 3.5 or 4 but nothing in between). My counselors, however, forced those Spanish 1 grades into my transcript (they converted them into on level grades of 90 and 94). This however is a 4.1 and 4.4 already”
“I'm applying this cycle and was wondering if rounded grades would be recalculated as A's or B's. For example, i have 3 rounded up grades from 89.5% - 90% to an A, but I know colleges recalculate GPA. My GPA in my grade portal shows a 4.0 but I just wanted to know if these grades would be counted as B's (the grades show up as the original percentage but count as an A). submitted by /u/Helpful_Gap9633 [link] [comments]”
“In 7th grade, I took an exam for acceleration for Geometry, and I got an 85 (which means that I passed and I took Algebra 2 the following year). In my school, they didn't consider the double 85 (first and second semester) in my weighted or unweighted GPA, so I still have a 4.0. My question is, will colleges take this exam grade into account when recalculating my GPA, putting me at a disadvantage? I know it's from 7th grade but it kinda pisses me off because it's the only B on my tran”
“im writing my activity list for common app and im trying to figure how to describe my job. “I'm active duty and planning to return to college. My idea is to complete my general education courses while serving (using Tuition Assistance) through AMU because it's self-paced and flexible, then transfer to a more reputable university for my accounting major once I can commit to scheduled classes. My concern is AMU's reputation. I've seen people call it a diploma mill, and I eventually want to work for a competitive accounting firm, so I want my degree to come from a well-res”
“I'm struggling to pick a topic to write about that means something to me while also showcasing a unique perspective that would make me a compelling candidate. The only topic I've thought about that's made me feel anything has been based in my deep rooted social and communication issues (similar to those found in those with autism) and how it's caused me to turn to artistic pursuits like literature, painting, theater and music, I've used it before and it's been successful,”
