“Some are more excusable than others. Underlying engine problem that only shows up after 500 miles? Sure. Coolant leak that you only notice after a couple months? Ok. White dings on a black car though....?”
“Which photo shows the cut paint? (Not arguing just genuinely can't see it.)”
“I removed a 6 year old Suntek Ultra diy precut kit on the car I sold earlier this year and it was a breeze. I could definitely see some generic film having subpar quality/adhesive, just like vinyl wrap. What did they try to remove the adhesive with? Last year I helped a friend…”
Customers receive substandard paint protection film (PPF) installations, characterized by uneven cuts and poor application quality. Customers express frustration with the lack of skill demonstrated by installers and the need to travel long distances for corrections.

I feel bad for the owner [re: 3K PPF on brand new LC300]
“I removed a 6 year old Suntek Ultra diy precut kit on the car I sold earlier this year and it was a breeze. I could definitely see some generic film having subpar quality/adhesive, just like vinyl wrap. What did they try to remove the adhesive with? Last year I helped a friend remove a 20 year old PPF quarter hood off an e46 and it felt like it was epoxied on. We had to resort to an adhesive remover wheel but it worked well and the paint wasn't in terrible shape afterwards (medium cut/polish”
“Theyll send it 3 blocks down and have 2 dudes who chain smoke do it for $200 while they pocket the rest. Absolutely dont use the dealership.”
“Lmaooo maaaan, I guess I got lucky with my shop cause it’s been some stinkers on here lately”
“A lot since it’s fully body satin finish.. but it is also 2-3k less than other shops”
“I’m in agreement with others that this is unfortunately clear coat that is coming off.”
“dear lord that is infuriating. you absolutely have to get your money back. I would threaten a lawsuit.”
“looks like dealer installed ppf which is usually falling off before the car leaves the lot”
“I hope so, too. OP has a $140k car he wants to detail. It deserves to be taken care of properly.”
“Also I’m sure they fix it. Just send them these photos. They may drive to you. It’s that easy to fix”
“That definitely something to just ask them to fix it. All easy fixes. The eyes will lay down easy. The specs under the film, they’ll just need to replace it.”
Great job considering the installer must have been blind.
“I mean my man, you went and got a full body stealth PPF job for 3k...that should've been your first red flag lmao”
“Legit never done PPF in my life and I could have done a better job. Stevie Wonder must have been on this job”
“my blind autistic limbless brother could do a better job with his mouth and feet”
“Yeah this looks worse than mine, and mine looked sooo bad. Did you see the pics of my car? Mine was done by a guy greatly/widely praised locally. all 5 star reviews on google .... even now because he figured out how to remove negative ones.”
“Oh yeah I didn't notice that at first glance. I was just baffled about the horrible job they did lol”
“Also if the razor blade is through more than that you’re going to need a whole paint job on the whole car.”
“Refund refund refund. This job is a hack job and it also looks like they cut right into your paint with all that trimming. Now you’re going to need everything scratch repaired before putting ANY more PPF on the vehicle. Don’t pay a single cent for that.”
“3 6 15 19 all have some razor damage, picture 1 has some scrape damage that shouldnt be on a new car. Also you can just tell by craftsmanship. A hand cut one that is poorly cut, like this, is bound to have hidden razor damage that is obscured by the ppf edge. If you want, I can highlight it in the pics for you. I have an eye for things like this, which sadly causes me to always hire the best of the best for cosmetic repairs ($$$$$$$). I wish I could just not see it so easily.”
“Some are more excusable than others. Underlying engine problem that only shows up after 500 miles? Sure. Coolant leak that you only notice after a couple months? Ok. White dings on a black car though....?”
“That's so bad I would be trying to find a way of making them take the car back and get you another.”
“If it was me I'd be looking to entirely reject the car at this point. If it has indeed been cut with a razor then it'll need a respray and I wouldn't trust them to do that properly either. At the very least they should pay to have the PPF completely removed, the car painted where it needs it, then have a competent installer detail the car and install the PPF properly.”
No, even hand cut, this is atrocious. Redo. New installers.
Refund, get some mileage out of their PPF then have it done properly.
“I’d be going full scorched earth in this dealership for ruining my brand new car. What an embarrassing quality of work.”
“Worked for a year in ppf installation for luxury cars in London. This is awful”
“Wow. I would expect an amateur taking their time to do a significantly better job.”
“3k for a full body PPF is Hella cheap and you can see why. Whole body generally isn't computer cut, and does have to be hand cut. But these dudes suck at it.”
“Not computer cut? We have AI you can literally talk to, and xpel has been doing this for 20 years. That install looks horrible. It looks like they gouged the paint too. I would be furious. I’d return the car.”
I think their expert is mostly blind lol. I feel for OP.
“The crisp lines of a well done ppf make me look at it and think “there is no fucking way I could have done this”. The job in these pictures make me think “I should have done this myself.” This stuff needs an artist and I think OP’s workers were the kids that had trouble coloring within the lines in school.”
“They dropped a clanger and they want you to drive 1000km to have it 'fixed'? I'd tell them to get bent. Do not ask for refund, this is lawyer territory because of the damage done to your brand new car, which will be more than the $3000 ppf install.”
