“He is a 3 year old springer who runs and sprints a lot, looks to have full range of motion in his hips, was told by a vet he doesn’t have hip dysplasia, sits normally when sitting quickly or on cue to sit but when relaxed goes off to the side, doesn’t bunny hop, chooses to pee…”
“how do i find a cooling mat for my dog (i live in texas) anywhere online that ISN’T FEATURED WITH AN AI GENERATED IMAGE. she’s getting older, and it’s hot everywhere. genuinely, just want to give her a little something extra cool to lay on as the summer continues on.”
“He is not a hyper dog. He’s a lazy lap dog and sleeps most of the time. We live in the city and he walks everywhere with us. So, he gets plenty of exercise. I cannot pinpoint a single event where he could’ve hurt his pelvis like this. We took him to the vet for nausea and…”

“We have a 6-month-old Labrador. About a month ago, we started noticing clicking in his left hip, mainly during tight turns or when he changes direction, but not during normal walking. He shows no obvious signs of pain, no lameness, no consistent bunny-hopping, and he…”
“He is a 3 year old springer who runs and sprints a lot, looks to have full range of motion in his hips, was told by a vet he doesn’t have hip dysplasia, sits normally when sitting quickly or on cue to sit but when relaxed goes off to the side, doesn’t bunny hop, chooses to pee with his leg up everytime, and sometimes hesitates getting in the car but it’s a lifted truck, and loves springing whenever he can. My issue is he sways so much. Does this look like hip dysplasia? Also tell me if I need to”
“Hey Everyone, We have a 7 month old Goldendoodle with bilateral moderate hip dysplasia confirmed by x-ray. We saw the orthopedic surgeon today who suggested a few options, including TPO and FHO (he doesn’t do THR). The surgeries with complications are overwhelming , we aren’t sure what to do. The recovery risks with TPO and her falling down or damaging the pelvis are terrifying, but with having such a small window of time to do the TPO surgery, I don’t want to regret not doing it. Should we do t”
“Hello, Our dog got x-rays done and they came back with FCI grade E / Severe Hip Dysplasia. As of right now, she doesn't really show any signs of pain or unwillingness to jump into a car. Would this require a THR because of her size or FHO? Or can conservative management be done (I'm assuming not since her case looks pretty severe)? She is definitely slightly overweight and is a medium sized dog. X-Ray Images here: https://imgur.com/a/kibi-x-ray-XLhGax4 submitted by /u/Ciglo [”
“NOT ASKING FOR A DIAGNOSIS! Was hoping anyone here (unfortunately) has had experience with hip dysplasia in their pittie before, or maybe a vet/vet tech has some advice. We have a pit mix rescue from Mexico, he’s 8 month old now, and we’ve noticed a limp that comes and goes between his 2 back legs, not at the same time, but it goes between his back left and back right legs we’ve also noticed that it almost seems like his hind legs are longer then his front as his body kind of looks on an angle,”
“Evie is a 7 month old pure sheltie. Her bloodline has no history of hip dysplasia at all, but her run is worrying me a little bit because (to me) it looks 'bunny hop'-esque. https://imgur.com/a/Bg9ABX1 She also tends to sit/lay down weird submitted by /u/mephisto_philies49 [link] [comments]”
“TL;DR: Almost 6-year-old, ~90 lb German Shepherd with longstanding bilateral hip dysplasia (left worse). His ortho does not recommend hip replacement right now and actually felt he looked better clinically at his most recent exam, but at home I intermittently notice low hind-paw lift, light toe scuffing, possible subtle knuckling, stiffness, hesitation with stairs/jumping, and occasional bunny hopping. None of it is constant or steadily worsening, and he often looks and feels significantly bette”
“I have an almost 6-year-old, ~90 lb German Shepherd with bilateral hip dysplasia, worse on the left. He’s had hip dysplasia since he was a puppy, with his first hip imaging done around a year old. Throughout his life, we were generally told by his vets that his hips shouldn’t significantly affect his quality of life. He was evaluated by an orthopedic specialist about a year ago who felt similarly. I got a second orthopedic opinion this spring, and that ortho discussed the possibility of a left t”

“Hi all. I’m sad to be part of this page, but hoping for some support Last week my 6yo Labrador Ivy was diagnosed with a partial ACL (equivalent) tear and needed an X-ray to confirm. She had the X-ray yesterday and it came back with hip dysplasia 😣 I was not present at the appointment but my partner came home and told me she needs a double hip replacement and it’s $11k per hip. We were not told that conservative management was an option. Absolutely devastating. We cancelled her insurance 10 mont”
“Recently noticed 7 month old puppy is always bunny hopping when running and walks with a little sway. Doesn't seem to be in pain and we are quite active but I know he could very well be hiding any potential pain if there is any. He is a rescue mutt (golden retriever, cattle dog, German shepherd, great pyranese, pitbull - in that order). We keep him lean and he is dense/muscular build as we know this is very important in general. Do what we believe to be a good nutrition program for him - pu”
“My gf's Bernese Mountain Dog (almost 5) just started yelping very sharpy last night out of the blue. We took him in to the vet within a few hours. We thought it was his hips but turns out there might be a herniated disc near his neck. Just randomly he would yelp in pain from the smallest of movements. He can be laying down and just adjusting himself and would yelp in pain. But he can jump in and out of the car going to the vet with no issues. Shake his head sometimes with no issues. He ate,”
“My pup god diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. I haven't neutered him yet I was originally waiting for him to turn 2 years old. Everyone is telling me that I need to neuter him, but i'm scared that it might affect him negatively. I feel pressured, but I'm scared that neutering him could make his condition worse. He's super chill guy and i like him a lot. I honestly have no complaints about his behaviour. Please advise. He's my first dog ever and all his dog friends are neutered/spa”
“When we adopted my dog a year ago we knew he had a grade 2 luxating patella. Fast forward a year later after a check up and X-rays he also has hip dysplasia which was causing more of a pain response than the knee at the time. We decided to do FHO surgery 2 months ago and was advised the knee will most likely remain the same. His recovery has been hard because the luxating patella is on the same surgical side as the hip and it now seems like the knee is a lot worse and is out of place more than i”

“My puppy recently got diagnosed with a genetic hip dysplasia disorder. The doctor has asked us to make him lose weight (he is 32 kgs now) and asked us to bring it down to 25 kgs as soon as we can and to get him operated on as early as January before his bone structure becomes permanent. Recently, he has not been keeping his weight on his hind right leg and was tripping and not being able to walk properly. As to why we took him to the vet. Should I get a second opinion? submitted by /”
“As the title says I need some advice or anything to help me with my border collie. He is 6 years old. His breathe smells like death and he constantly drink water. We took him to the vet and they ran blood work and did a full check up and we got the blood work back and they said nothing is out of the normal. All is bloodwork came back good. I wqs concerned about his teeth because they look rotten. The vet said that there is nothing wrong with them. I would like to post the Picture of them in the”

I cannot pinpoint a single event where he could’ve hurt his pelvis like this. We took him to the vet for nausea and vomiting. They gave fluids and meds to stop vomiting. The plan was to take him home, let the meds work to get him eating again and be good to go. That night, he seemed to get even more lethargic. At 4:00 am, we thought he wasn’”
“His adopted owner decided to bring him back to me yesterday. I noticed he was overweight but he has been a chunk since he was born. When I took him on a walk, I noticed a very concerning *waddle* as he walks… I’m not over exaggerating as I’ve looked it up on TikTok videos. He waddles, very heavily. He is a pitbull/blue heeler mix if that might be of use or helpful. I just got him home from our walk and he’s lying down so I won’t be able to get a video now but I will post one soon. He has insuran”
“4 Years old 45 pounds Mix (possibly blue heeler / pitty and some other stuff, but not certain. See my profile for pics!) Our girl Nook is just 4, and had been dealing with pain and limping in her back left leg all last year. We had XRays done late last year and got referred to a surgeon who recommended a TTA, which we did back in April. She is fully recovered, though the recovery process was awful as she was in a lot of pain early on and was violent when she was scared. We thought all is well si”
“Hi guys, long story short I have a beagle. She's about 11 months and while being spayed, the vet performed a test to see how her hips are. She's now diagnosed with hip dysplasia (thank God I got her on my pet insurance early). Are there any activities or exercises I can do to keep her back legs strong? Any joint supplements that may help? Species: dog Age: 11 months Sex/Neuter status: female, spayed Breed: beagle Body weight: 25 lbs History: not a whole lot until now. Had a bad reaction”
“My 6 year old lab mix female has been looking at her hips suddenly on walks 3 + weeks ago. And running/ cowering/hiding when pain gets more extreme and we immediately go home. The first time this happened it was mid walk 3 weeks ago after seeming normal first half on walk. It came and went over the next week and then stayed more consistent and I could only take her out to go to the bathroom. I’ve been to multiple vets- our family vet, general emergency vet, and even a neurologist. They did xray”
“I have an almost two year old nuetered corgi boy. He is a high energy playful little guy. this summer it’s been crazy hot some days due to the heat dome. at first I thought it was the heat. but now even in the cool summer nights he is refusing to fully finish out walks around the block. I feel like he’s in pain somewhere he is sitting with he a rounded back. I’m worried he cause he is not finishing his walks, am I over reacting? what questions should I ask my vet to best advocate for my boy? ”
“Our dog, a 15lb shih tzu has really bad hip dysplasia, where her hind legs give out on her and don't support her when she tries to run around. She gets shots already that seem to work a bit, and we've tried grippy socks and sticky pads too, but she removes them too quickly. We looked into commercially offered braces but they are expensive and not usually well fitted especially for smaller dogs. We don't have a printer, but we have friends with them and I'm sure some businesses mi”
“Please Help My 11-Year-Old German Shepherd 🙏 I’m writing this with a very heavy heart because I don’t know what else to do. My 11-year-old male German Shepherd has hip dysplasia, severe arthritis, and now a neurological condition affecting his bladder. His urine report is clear, but because of the neurological issue, he cannot control his urination. Today, the vet had to place a urinary catheter. I’ve already consulted multiple veterinarians. One vet suggested physiotherapy, but another advised”
“We have had our dog for almost 3 years now. We adopted him from an organization with very little information prior to our ownership. The only things we knew for certain when we adopted him were (A) he was fixed and up to date on his shots, (B) he was 2 at the time and (3) he is a mix of Australia ln Shepard and something else (we think maybe boarder collie?) Anyway, we noticed that he has a habit of panting HARD, as if he had just been out running in the sun for hours on end however, he just doe”
“English Cocker/springer spaniel - 19kg, 3.5y, female, spayed. Had frequently luxating hip from about 1 year old, X-ray showed this: https://postimg.cc/gallery/rDDZX74 Had a left side TPO (I think that’s what it’s called?) and 6 months of hydrotherapy. No further input. I was told this would very likely fix the problem on that side and she should live a pain-free life. The last two days she’s been intermittently limping on the left side again. Just as she did before. She has been referred to orth”
“Hello everyone! I have a 10 year old GSD that recently due to some spinal stuff, can no longer feel her back legs. She's still mobile (running, jumping, etc) but she gets a bit wobbly sometimes and drags her rear feet. She's also a bit unstable in the rear on our vinyl floors (we've put carpet runners EVERYWHERE in our house, but she insists on not walking on them lol) We're trying to find a good solution to boots or socks that will stay on even if drug. We've tried some shor”
“Hello vets, Our 7 year old 80lbs Rough Collie has had some issues with urinary incontinence while sleeping. She’s been ruled out for a UTI and given she was spayed it seems likely this is related to low estrogen. Our vet and I decided to start her on Incurin. She’s been on the 2mg introductory dose for about 11 days now, with maybe some improvement, but she’s still having occasional accidents. At this point, the medication states we are supposed to trial decreasing the dose, but obviously that s”
“Toasty is a 6yr, female, spayed Chihuahua mix. She's about 20 lb. I adopted her about 3 years ago, she was a stray and a show dog while in the shelter. She is house trained. Within the last week she has been peeing and pooping indoors no matter how much I take her to go outside (which she does go outside as well). Her pee smells off when she goes and she's been walking funny with her back hunched. She's still eating and drinking fine. Feel free to ask any clarifying questions. I'”
“Hi, I have a three year old Welsh collie, who was a farm dog reject, and unsurprisingly very energetic. When he went for the snip (~1 y/o), he also had an hip X-ray due to issues with his back right hip function. This X-ray found fairly significant dysplasia in his right hip. Since then, this generally hasn't been an issue, but he has recently started struggling with it again. He can walk fairly normally (unless you are really locked in on the problem leg, in which case there is noticeable s”
“its getting pretty hot in the uk and i have noticed my dog has been lying on our shopping bags seeking something cold! im unsure on what brand is best and one that actually works as i dont want to waste my money on something that doesnt work :) hope somebody can help! cheap is best but nothing over £30 submitted by /u/m1lkiii [link] [comments]”
“I know a lot of dogs have this problem but as soon as he hears thunder he finds me and won’t leave my side and shakes and pants until it’s over, it’s not a big deal to me that he’s around me but I worry he’s getting super stressed out and that it could be hard on him when he’s older. Does anyone have any recommendations for helping be less stressed/scared of storms. He also does this when he hears the low battery noise of a fire alarm, even in videos from my phone or TV. submitted by”
