“Looking for some veterinary/Frenchie advice please. My 3-year-old, 9kg French Bulldog Luna was hospitalized with suspected IVDD after suddenly losing use of her hind legs. She still has deep pain sensation and MRI showed only mild spinal cord compression, so we’re treating…”

“First time asking in here but my 9 year old American bulldog (mix) lost ability to walk in his back legs randomly last Saturday, the vet said its most likely an FCE, however the x-ray did show he had a “mass” of arthritis right where his back and tail meet. We were given…”

Owners are alarmed by their dogs suddenly developing neurological symptoms like head tilting, inability to walk, and shaking. These episodes often require emergency veterinary care and specialist neurologists.

“I noticed sometime last year maybe around June that my dog had a small lump on his left side i guess on his ribs. It was nothing of concern as i have read that most dogs as they age will get some sort of lumps and bumps. Also please bare with me as this is my first dog so im doing my best. Fast forward to April of this year i took him to the vet for his regular visit and shots and mentioned it to the vet. At that time it wasnt the size of my palm but was big enough for the vet to see just from l”

“Hi everyone, We are looking for any advice or shared experiences regarding a rare diagnosis. Our 8-year-old male French Bulldog, Winnie (15 kg), was recently taken in for an MRI because we originally suspected a herniated disc / IVDD due to spinal symptoms. While the MRI did confirm spinal malformations and disc protrusions, it unexpectedly revealed a brain tumor as well: Location & Description: A cystic mass originating from the right lateral ventricle and extending into the 3rd ventricle,”

“Hi all, We just lost our two-year old French Bulldog to stage 5 IVDD. It came out of nowhere - one day happy playing ball, the next paralyzed in her hind end and in extreme pain. We thought we did our due diligence - bought from a reputable breeder, both parents OFA checked, etc. Her spine showed the degeneration of a 10 year old dog at two. Our neighbors also have a Frenchie with the same thing, though not at stage 5. We are heartbroken as the breed is SO wonderful, but their bodies are built S”

“My poor baby has been diagnosed with fibercartilaginous embolism or FCE. She was being watched over night at the ER and wasn’t able to eat as they wanted her to fast for her to get an MRI done the next morning. She was admitted 2 days ago and was discharged last night. She has been drinking water from the spoon but will not eat she will seem to try but after a lick of the soft food I give her or two she loses interest. Can anyone tell me if this is normal for my pet at this stage? I have tried c”

“Long history here. I work in medicine so replies can contain jargon. My wife and I noticed a swelling on our dog’s (5 year old GSD) left temple early August 2026. We saw our general veterinarian who did a fine needle aspiration. That aspirate came back highly suspicious for lymphoma. We were referred to our local veterinary specialty hospital and saw an oncologist who recommended ct scan of the head, neck, and chest and aspiration of a few peripheral nodes she felt were enlarged on exam. Ct scan”

“Hi, I’m just wondering how common this is for a dog of only 7 years to be diagnosed with something this dramatic? I’m also curious how common it is that she got diagnosed this late in her disease. The vets at the ER were incredibly kind but told us it was a long time coming and she prob had cancer everywhere. She was so faint in my arms that when I put her down to see if she was ok, she completely collapsed. I’ve never hear of anything like this. She was my best friend and I’m so scared I missed”

“Hi everyone, If you’re reading this then thanks already :). My sweet little 13 year old Shiba boy’s brain stem tumor/meningioma grew back recently. He just graduated second round of radiation therapy after 20 successful months the first time. He recovers beautifully and doesn’t seem to mind the treatments/ we see 0 negative side effects (Fingers crossed we keep going at this rate). We did the first round 20 months ago and paired it with prednisone and we saw a 60% shrinkage when we redid the MRI”

“My 15 year old, female spayed Shih Tzu had a terrifying vestibular event back in May. She was seen by a neurologist and had an MRI- they didn’t see any tumors, a stroke, or ear problems so diagnosed her with Idiopathic Vestibular Disease. It took her two long months to recover. She is doing ok now, with a slight head tilt and some wobbliness. However, I found a flea on her tonight. I’m panicking because pretty much EVERY flea product I look into says it’s risky for neurologic dogs. I’m so worrie”

“My frenchie mix is 10 months old. She has stereotypical French bulldog ears. They previously were standing straight up, then at about 9 months old, one of them became floppy. Is that a reason to go to the vet, or is it likely just a change in her growing puppy ears? (rewording my post from a few days ago to better fit this sub) submitted by /u/Ok_Document4760 [link] [comments]”

“Translated from French, hope it's clear — sorry for any awkward phrasing! Hi all, hoping someone has seen something similar because our vets are stumped. My dog (14yo, mixed breed — Beauceron cross —, 26kg/57lb) started having brief episodes about 10 days ago that resemble vestibular syndrome flare-ups: hind-end ataxia, falling, unable to get up alone, panic/disorientation, erratic eye movement, lasting 30 seconds to 2 minutes, 1-2x/day, always in the evening. Even during the worst of an epi”

“What’s going on here? How urgent is this and can it wait till appt in 3 days? My bulldog is 10 years old, female. We live in PA closer to New Jersey side. She woke up with this overnight. She’s normal bulldog weight (I forget) and she’s not overly fat or anything. Shes eating and drinking like normal. Hair was def patchy for a few days, but not enough to think something was going on under it. It does not smell. Her back tenses when you touch near it. She’s not actively trying to scratch it or an”

“While we wait on FNA results, I am thinking through all the likely scenarios. It’s how I process things. Our 10 year old, 32 pound rescue beagle mix recently had a positive IDEXX cancer Dx test for lymphoma as a part of normal annual senior blood work. All external lymph nodes and other blood work levels are normal. No real symptoms. Xrays showed enlarged spleen with mass and possible lung nodule. We met with an oncologist today who did an ultrasound and fine needle aspirate. Spleen is enlarged”

“Looking for some veterinary/Frenchie advice please. My 3-year-old, 9kg French Bulldog Luna was hospitalized with suspected IVDD after suddenly losing use of her hind legs. She still has deep pain sensation and MRI showed only mild spinal cord compression, so we’re treating conservatively. The biggest issue has been severe pain and heavy panting. Her pain medication was progressively escalated to methadone CRI + ketamine CRI + lidocaine CRI, alongside gabapentin and paracetamol. Despite this, she”

“Hi vets, I feel like there's not been much progress and I'm looking for your thoughts on what to do next. 7 y/o female spayed French Bulldog DX'd with functional ileus 7 days ago. She's on prescribed purina pro canned wet gastroenteric food and 10mg pepcid. She'll have a day where there's no poop, then the next day 1-2 bouts of diarrhea that smells horrific. Her gas is nuclear.. clearing the room and making everyone gag several times an hour. There's a pattern where s”

“Information: 4 year old French bulldog. Male, 36 pounds. Previous health- healthy generally. Issues with eye ulcers previously. Our frenchie started walking with his head tilted on Friday night. On Monday AM I got him into our vet, they said inner ear infection and have antibiotics and said to wait a week for it to clear. By Wednesday morning he couldn’t walk, was panting and shaking and couldn’t lift his head. I rushed him to emergency, emergency told us to rush him to neurologist. Neurologist”
