“My 2 year old pup was diagnosed at the vet with a CCL sprain/very mild partial tear. They didn’t do ortho X-rays as he can still bear weight when walking but locks up his leg a bit to not make the full rotation, had lifted up the paw when he was running. The vet has us…”

“Hello everyone! My pup just tore his second ccl and I’m hoping to get a bit of insight. He is about 8yo, 40lbs, healthy weight for his size, and very, very high energy (heeler, spaniel, poodle mix). His first tear occurred about a year ago and I ended up going for a TPLO. I’ve…”

Several dogs are experiencing limping issues following TTA (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery for a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), with concerns about weakness in other legs and potential need for further procedures.

“So two months ago my dog started limping out of nowhere after some light playing, never yelped or anything so gave it a couple weeks before going to the vet. We take her in and he was pretty sure she had torn her CCL and sent us home with some medication and wanted us to come back in in two weeks to check it again and then look at having surgery. Well conveniently we were home because we got married and we were leaving for our honeymoon that week and not returning back home because we work on th”

I’ve just recently started going to a new vet clinic that offers a combined intra/extracapsular stabilization surgery (over-the-top combined with a lateral suture). They claim a very high success rate with minimal complications”

“Hello! My 5 yo pit / lab mix has tore both his CCL ligaments. A TPLO surgery is needed to correct this. What are my options if I do not have the $5,300 needed upfront, I believe? I live in Denver, Colorado. Thank you! submitted by /u/masoct3 [link] [comments]”

“Hi, I have a 3 year old mini golden doodle. She weighs 18lbs. 6 weeks ago she injured her back left knee. She is currently still walking with a slight limp. Is TPLO surgery the only option for her? submitted by /u/Mamabearof3kiddos [link] [comments]”

“Hello everyone! Our baby Luna tore her CCL last week and is having surgery on it this coming Thursday. What kind of non-physical enrichment activities would be you recommend? The hardest part is that her favorite activity is hiking and trying to keep her entertained for more than a couple minutes. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/KrimtonZ [link] [comments]”

“My buddy Jack ruptured his CCL on the right side 2 years ago, we were playing fetch and all I heard was a whimper and him lay down. After a vet visit it was determined a TPLO was the best solution. Fast-forward to yesterday, my wife went to let him outside and he stopped putting weight on his back right leg. There was no major activity or movement he did, just stopped putting weight on it. I’m just jumping to conclusions before my wife takes him to the vet, but I’m going to assume he ruptured hi”

“Hi all! My dog, Rambo is a 5 year old cattle dog pitbull mix (on the larger side, around 67lbs). He's been limping and gradually tearing his CCLs in both hind legs for the last few years, and 8 weeks ago we finally did bilateral TPLO surgery for him. We just went in for our 8 week x-ray and the vet said prelim results look like one side (left back leg) hasn't fully healed, so he's instructed to be on strict crate rest for the next 2 weeks. I'm wondering if this is common (couldn&”

“Long story short, in 2022 she was hit by a car and her left leg popped out of place. Closed Reduction Surgery was done and continued with recovery in crate. Just within this week she has been noticeably limping and seems to not be able to stand on it or put and true force or anything on her leg, she can stand and use her front legs to lean when she’s basically postured up and can somewhat look like she’s walking normal, but still noticeable limp and lack of movement when adjusting in sleep and m”

“I just need some feedback and I’ve been scrolling and scrolling for hours and I’m on information overload. My dog will be 7. She’s a Cane Corso/Pitty mix. She had a partial tear chasing after a deer in her right back leg two years ago and she has finally fully tore it. We saw our wonderful vet and he gave me the option of him doing a surgery (I forgot the name already) where he puts in a cadaver ligament or having another local vet preform the TPLO The surgery my vet is doing will cost me 1500K”

“Hello, my sweet girl received imaging today that confirmed CCL tear in her left rear knee. She is a 6 y/o spayed female Rottweiler 82 lbs no other health concerns or significant medical history. Has been on cosequin supplements since puppyhood because of her breed (higher chance of joint issues/hip dysplasia). Moderately active. Injury occurred 2 weeks ago. Currently on anti inflammatory meds and strict rest. We are awaiting a referral to orthopedics for TPLO surgery. This could be a 1-4month wa”

“My beloved dog (60lb 8 year old shepherd mix) developed a limp in her rear leg in mid August. It seemed mild, no yelping. She still wanted to walk, was still happy and eating etc … waited a week to see if it would clear up and it didn’t. Took her into the vet (I was in between places so this was a place recommended by a family member). At first the vet said that it was probably a tear of some kind (acl or knee). She X-rayed and told me that it looked like bone cancer, but she would send out to a”

“About 2 years ago, my male chihuahua who was 13 at the time tore the CCL in one of his rear legs. The vet prescribed him joint supplements and pain/inflammation meds and after a few months of taking it easy, he was back to normal. Two years later, now that he is 15 years old, he is going through a similar injury but in the other rear leg. The emergency vet examined his leg, but didn't seem to know exactly what the cause was this time. She said given his age, any potential treatment would be”

“Has anyone had any experience in working their dogs in high intensity sports after a TPLO surgeries? My girl has had them both replaced and she’s only 3 😭. We do dock diving and I’m contemplating doing some bite work. We go to a chiropractor and she said that we probably shouldn’t but I’ve talked to some other people that have said the surgery should make them better than before so I’m getting some mixed signals. I’d really like to do some bitework with her but I’m more concerned with her comfo”

“Started limping one day to the next. No vomiting signs of stress or any whimpering. He does not bare weight on his Left leg. Other than this he is still very active and wants to keep running around. He has been on bed rest and leash walks for bathroom use only Was told because of his left leg bone it would be a very difficult and very long process. Was also told his bone was developing wrong since birth because of a genetic disorder? Very confused and saddened by this news. Will be going soon to”

“I recently made a post related to this but we have a 4 year old girl who had a fully torn CCL and a partially torn CCL. We had the fully torn one operated on in early May, she had a TTA done and was fully recovered late July. A couple weeks ago she was showing new weakness in her other leg and we reached back out and they recommended operating again, and were able to schedule it for next week. However she's been limping a little on both legs not just the unoperated one, and we're worried”
