YouTube Users Frustrated by UI Changes

Users are experiencing jarring and unwelcome changes to YouTube's user interface, including enlarged thumbnails, altered video layouts, and visual distortions. These changes negatively impact usability and aesthetics, often appearing inconsistently across accounts or browsers, leading to frustration and a desire to revert to previous versions.

UI change i think, happening to me aswell dumb as hell

reddit.com2h ago

that would make sense, the preview probably cant expand toggles

Is anybody else experience larger thumbnails and titles? Longer titles are now being cut off because of the increased thumbnail and font size. There’s also no video length indicator. For context I’m using iOS 26.6.1 and the latest YouTube update. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app with no luck. submitted by /u/Meteroid16 [link] [comments]

I always wanted youtube to make this specific design better and they did, but now it's again like this... Like wth Is it because my phone is old at and the accidentally gave me that update and then rolled back ?? If that's the case then its disgusting But idk. One thing I know for sure that they did fix this black bar and i was so happy when I first saw it. I didn't update my phone or youtube or Google btw submitted by /u/Zayonex [link] [comments]

I am playing it on mobile in horizontal mode and i mainly use incognito. Earlier this video happened whenever I used to pause the video but now this is happening even in a running video. I thought that this overlap on pause was a bug which would get resolved, but it got worst one step further. Now i can't even watch a video 🤬 submitted by /u/onlyteehee [link] [comments]

There is a side bar next to the scrolling bar or my Youtube. I've been seeing this side bar for a while and trying to figure out what that is but I couldn't find anything on the internet. Does anyone else know how to turn it of? submitted by /u/AdPrestigious4563 [link] [comments]

So, i've been getting this problem on Short-form Videos (often Object Show or BFDI related Shorts) where sometimes when I scroll down, the Video below is a short marked for kids, something like that. So, yes, I have gone in to advanced and unchecked the auto enhance with ai settings. But, even having refreshed when I try and upload a video, it literally adds it anyway and because it includes art it completely destroys all of the quality. Is there a way to ENSURE it stays off even when it forces its way? I'm sorry if this has been answered before and I missed it in my searches. submitted by /u/experienceanxiety [link] [comments]

r/youtube2d ago

For a few days now, I've had this problem where thumbnails would be bigger than the screen. I've literally had thumbnails so big that they fill 2 screens worth of scrolling. Then I'd get a 3 or 5 rows of normal sized thumbnails, then I'll get a giant thumbnail like this again. I've tried emptying the cache etc. Even reinstalling the app. submitted by /u/GiveMeYuna [link] [comments]

This UI is an absolute mess. The search bar has a nested 'Ask YouTube' button, but is represented by the YouTube Shorts icon. There is another nested button that I can't identify, but looks like a podcast icon. It doesn't do anything and has no hover text. Outside the search bar is the Voice Search option. Create is now a lightbulb. And maybe worst of all, Notifications has been replaced with a volume indicator. Who designed this? submitted by /u/TheReturningMan [link

I just don't know why they thought this was going to be helpful. Now I have to cross-reference different videos to get a more accurate understanding of my views. That second video did atrociously... yet still is nearing the higher-range of my average view count. Just silly! submitted by /u/A_b_b_o [link] [comments]

A few months ago YouTube announced the dual layout streaming feature. Only recently I am seeing larger creators begin to use it. It appears in my shorts feed but when I go to the users channel it is a horizontal stream. Both get recommended. I assume they are using Aitum or something similar to crop the vertical feed My question is, in the past week has anyone tested this? How do results differ from a normal stream? If larger creators are doing it consistently I assume it is being accepted as be

Some of the videos on YT that I've watched (Including the one above from Lewis) all have this weird glitched zigzag pixelated pattern. And that is regardless of what codec I'm using. The only time this kinda gets fixed is when I change the resolution to either a lower one or a higher one. Probably the strangest thing is that This only happens when I'm watching them on PC because as of writing this, I haven't encountered this bug on the mobile app whatsoever. This has been happeni

Shorts on my LG TV with WebOS are getting out of hand. On the Home section, I regularly used the function to show fewer Shorts, but it just worked temporarily; they always come back sooner or later. And just recently, they added an additional Shorts navigation tab (on the left sidebar) below the Home tab that cannot be removed. Also, when I go to the News tab, I see Shorts everywhere now, instead of actual news reports. The worst thing: They haven't even removed the option "Show me fewe

I started watching a video on my Youtube Android mobile app and switched to full screen, only to see links for other videos taking up the bottom quarter of the screen with no way of removing them. They disappear in portrait mode and in full screen you can swipe up to bring them into the centre to select options like queuing up to watch, but the screen capture shows the furthest down you can have them. I don't know if this is a bug or an intended feature designed to ensure that I don't ev

Only the netmirror one actually works all the time, the rest just is for show tbh, and netmirror doesn't really have some shows at all or has only 720p in clarity. The (vid) ones are basically useless and buffers and doesn't work 80 percent of the time. Would be great if you could add more good sources like nepu, bingr etc for movies and shows and upgrade the anime sources too(need anikoto). Also the player need a bit more polish, it's heating alot while playing something (movie and anime). And

I swear, when I was using YouTube on my iPad last year, everything looked just like how it would if you were on a computer, but now they’ve changed it to where it’s very difficult to utilize. The issues I’m seeing: Every time you go back a page the whole thing refreshes itself, there’s no way around this You have to click on the comments to see them and they’re bunched up on the right side making it very difficult to read You can’t use the buttons on the comments either, and instead you’re given

So I'm trying to reuse video details from my old video, and upon doing so, it would appear that YouTube has changed the appearance of all videos and shorts. I don't know why they would do this, it just seems silly. How does this in any way make it easier for a user to navigate. Why does everything need to be floating? Also, if you're going to do the whole floating thing, don't detatch the thumbnail and video information. It implies they're unrelated.

I'm used to clicking the title area to activate the window when I have livestreams playing. Sometimes I forget they added this stupid useless clickable title and it's no longer just "empty" space to click. So it closes live chat and opens the redundant description panel that nobody asked for. When I reopen live chat, it's defaulted back to top chat, so I have to change it back to live chat again like I already freaking had to manually do when I joined the stream. Ugh, so F-
