Adding 3" foam plus drywall to the ceiling. That’s going to cover this grille. First two pics are the existing vent on and off. Third is a mockup of leaving a notch/pocket in the new ceiling so the register stays. Is that the right move or is there a better way to keep this supply from getting buried?”

“I had to cut out a section of a wall from floor to ceiling so that my plumbers could access and replace my stack and supply lines from the basement to the second floor. The corner section I cut out is ~36" wide x 101" high on one wall, and 20" wide x 101" high on the other. I also cut out a section of the ceiling that is ~57" long x 24.5" wide. Since my patch is more in height vs. width, would it make more sense to hang the drywall vertically? Also, what size drywal”

“We're quoting a ceiling white oak nickel gap job, and I don't have a lot of experience, so I'm looking for some advice. The client wants everything to fit tight/be scribed to the walls, so would it be best to acclimate the wood in the house first? If so, how long? submitted by /u/JJSSteury [link] [comments]”

“If I understand correctly, you also count for the drywall. Does that make this a 12” rough in? Thanks! submitted by /u/LongroofLover [link] [comments]”

“Tearing out the paneling on the right-side wall and replacing with drywall. Looking for advice on how best to handle the L soffit over the vent, with respect to cut edges. The wall is 6 ft from floor to soffit, and the soffit is 16"w x 9"h. I'm going with drop down ceilings, not drywall. So on paper two 4x8 sheets ought to be enough to cover the full vertical height. But that leaves me with one strip with 2 rough edges. So I'm looking for advice on where to put my cut vs factor”

“I’m a drywall contractor based in Texas, primarily working on multifamily residential and commercial construction. I’ve been in the industry since I was a teenager, starting with pre-rock and punch work before moving into project management. I’ve managed drywall projects since 1997 and have operated my own company since 2017. I’m interested in connecting with other experienced drywall professionals around Texas to exchange knowledge, discuss best practices, and learn about how others approach pu”

“I applied a thin layer of spackling paste to a small area in a ceiling. Went to lunch came back saw a bubble in the area and when I poked at it I saw that the paper from the sheet rock started to delaminate from the drywall core. In 40 years of doing this mostly in NY never seen Sheetrock paper delaminate from the board itself. To note the dry wall core was dry no moisture. Project is in Florida. I know it’s not the spackling paste cause I’ve used it extensively without issues. In doing this who”
