“No, this is the initial "What we can find out that they for sure did" investigation by the owner. Once we collect initial evidence, we'll have enough to get charges or a civil suit brought. Everyone here is acting like we got a request from the ex-employees' lawyers to hand over a PST. THAT would be handled A LOT differently!!!!”
“To tack on: unemployment is not a hand-out -- it's the payout from years of insurance payments your employer paid on your behalf. YOUR work paid into the system and YOU deserve the payout.”
“I've seen it in severance contracts before where the employee agreed to take the severance in place of unemployment. So they absolutely 'can' coerce people into it. Maybe that is illegal in some states though. The point is that they are offering a higher pay rate via severance contract than unemployment would be, so it's a relatively fair tradeoff.”

“Documenting stuff is sort of pointless since you can be fired for pretty much any reason in this country except the obviously discriminatory ones. After that, you either voluntarily resign or you don’t. That’s pretty easy to prove. If they claim it’s for cause when filing unemployment, they’ll have to prove that (so just retain performance evals and your termination docs)”
“No, it's quite clear that corporations are massively abusing the law in their favor while there has never been enforcement by the DOJ outside of Trump trying to sue Meta for discriminating against Americans in the stupidest way possible. There is a clear definition of what LCA entails and flagrantly abusing it would not hold up to any real scrutiny. Especially since there are many unemployed devs in our field already struggling to look for work. Have some worker solidarity.”
“So bud, this has been happening for 20 years. Indians abused the fuck out of H1s to the point it's a joke. We tried to tell you all, we tried to say it's bad to replace domestic workers with indentured servants that hire people from their own state in India. Nobody listened. Now we're here”
“Courts and prosecutors aren't stupid, they're gonna look at a paper trail of "performance" writeups coincidentally starting right after a whistleblower event and run with it. "well shucks, sorry, they put "performance " on the paper, guess our hands are tied lol" isn't how it works.”
“This exactly fits everything I've ever heard about working for Gensler. Including that they're in the Epstein files”
