“Hello, we live in a high humidity city. This is how our engineered wood floors looks. Some of the top finish is peeling and the underlying original wood color is showing. We have a dog and have had accidents in the peeling area and I guess that’s part of it too. There is color…”

“Flooring is from engineered floors, Riverwood Sumatra. It's a bit thinner at 7mm than I wanted. But it's the color and look I was after. I spent about a month trying to find a laminate that had the right warmth and look. Really happy with how it's looking so far, the second…”

“Can you tell by this picture, is this laminate or engineered wood. And what can I use to clean it? We had a leak under the dishwasher, and the flooring underneath turned whit-ish (if that helps). It's tongue and groove style. Thanks. submitted by /u/IndieDropout [link] [comments]”

I spent about a month trying to find a laminate that had the right warmth and look. Really happy with how it's looking so far, the second picture captures the color better. It's also a pretty grippy floor, which I kinda like since I have slipped a few times playing with my dog, chasing her around the house 😂 Have cut a few planks backwards, but”

“Hey everyone, we bought a house that seems to have a mix of hardwood and engineered wood floors. Here are some photos. They’re nice in some places but dull in others with scratches, and not really flush with the edges of each plank. Would you recommend that we get the whole house (about 2500 sq ft) fixed at once, or would it be easy enough for a flooring company to move the furniture room to room and do it piecemeal once we move in? We got one quote from someone who says he will “polish the wood”

“I just had some engineered hardwood installed. Curious if you’d ask the flooring installer to fix the two flooring cuts and also the nicks in the drywall that happened from them carrying around items. One of the boards seems slightly chipped and the other I feel like the cut around the closet is sloppy with both the baseboard & extra piece cut in with matching caulk. Further, they left a large gap on the right side of the stair nose leading to my basement. Thank you! submitted by”

“I am on a budget and just bought a new house. It had original hardwood, but lots of scuffed up spots. Is this something a beginner could DIY? And how difficult or tedious is it? I am still not great at projects where you have to be very meticulous/precise. Do I need to rent a floor sander or could I accomplish with polish alone and spot treatment sanding (hand)? Any tips or advice for how to recover them without spending a fortune, while also being effective, not just “lipstick”. Also curious be”

“I’m about to replace the original engineered hardwood that was installed when we bought our home 18+ years ago. I’m hoping to replace with engineered as we were told it’s best on concrete slab. The two I’m looking at is Bruce 3/8, 5 inch thick and Shaw 9/16, 5 inch thick. Approximately 1400 sq feet. The difference in price is about $3 in sq feet. Does it matter if I go with the cheaper one? Are there significant differences other than the thickness. I don’t know much about flooring. Thank you! &”

“I been researching and love the Colmar hardwood by Flooret. I’m just worried because we have an 70 lb bloodhound. The sample holds up pretty well. Just wondering if anyone can give me their thoughts and if they used Flooret before. Thanks! submitted by /u/Witty-Chapter1024 [link] [comments]”

“We are building a new house in the midwest and will be putting engineered hardwood in most of our main level (kitchen, pantry, dining room, living room, hallway, and master). I am looking for recommendations for something with the following: 1) I would like an least an 8 inch wide plank, but preferably looking at around 10 inch due the openness and size of our floor plan. 2) I also want the floor to be very durable as we have kids and dogs in the home. 3) Most likely going with oak or white oak”

“Looking for a second opinion from flooring professionals. This floor was installed about six months ago. It’s Compass Watershed Mississippi Maple — 12 mm laminate, AC4 rated, Uniclic locking system with an aluminum-oxide finish. I’ve recently noticed three small but definite chips along plank edges/joints. You can feel that material is actually missing, so they’re not just marks or variations in the bevel. The three areas are in completely different rooms — a bedroom, great room and laundry room”

“We’re the first ones to live in our new build in Brooklyn (we moved in 16 months ago). The place came with Terra Legno engineered hardwood throughout. I keep finding new nicks/chips in the surface, even in low traffic areas like my closet. We’re a no shoe home and I’m pretty neurotic about using felt pads. For the flooring pros here: does this look like normal wear for this type of engineered hardwood, or would you be concerned about the finish/product? Anything specific I should be looking for”
