“There’s no way to be absolutely certain about the condition of pipes under the slab. I’m in southwest Florida and our water is gaaarbage. Eats away at copper so bad that insurance companies will require a repipe if you’ve had multiple leaks under the slab. I’ve seen homes where copper wasn’t sleeved through the concrete penetration and the concrete has just destroyed the outside of the pipe from electrolysis. Copper under the slab is a time bomb. “Drain leak or fixture leak, maybe. Sometimes it's when people step out the tub and there's a spot that isn't water proofed, so you don't notice it. Sometimes it is just when weight is applied to a specific area of a fixture (as in shower pan/drain). Sometimes it is if the water splashes off of the person into a specific area of the shower, etc etc. Need to find out exactly when/where the leak is, then try to recreate the issue with someone in the downstairs watching.”

“Our city would tell you you’re shit out of luck. They’ve fixed several of these issues, but there’s a handful of places that flood when it rains hard if you don’t have a backwater valve on your main. Doesn’t matter if you run water or not, it floods basements with sewage water when it pours.”

“Had some water damage and mold.. they took up the floor and ripped up the 3/4 self leveling subfloor. Couldn't they have gotten rid of the mold with a solution rather than ripping up cementish sub floor? Now I'm not sure if their white 3/4 wooden subfloor is temporary and I should replace and pour a new one. Or leave it, pour some self leveling in the gaps and feather it in. “I'd take apart that tub's p-trap and clean it out and rod/snake through that other pipe stub-out (circled). If the pipes seem clear, I wouldn't even mess with any of the drainage pipe. “Thanks. I have isolated it to behind the kitchen sink and it is in the wall between cabinet and brick. Lucky I don't have interior damage. Plumber is coming tomorrow. Have to decide if removing bricks is better or cutting cabinet and Sheetrock with all the obstacles under the sink is the way to go.”
“Who knows we’re not there. Typically sign of a slab leak but this looks near the kitchen. Check under kitchen sink, remove front lower panel of dish washer and look under and under fridge maybe even by the laundry if it’s close. It could have been a laundry drain back up. They will unload a ton of water really fast. Check meter movement while it’s turned on.”
“Horizontal copper line gave way and split on the bottom. Probably from previous tenants using drain cleaner. Everything downstream from here has been replaced with pvc to the main. I'll post update photos for judgement of my amateur abilities. It will be replaced with a double wye and 45s (its all i can find locally). Fernco to the vent(which I'm pretty sure is clogged), so an AAV will be installed for now. Hopefully a kitchen remodel in the nearish future and will address the clog then.”
