“I wanna be mad at this comment but i cant lol”
“I love sunflowers and you did a great job! My problem is that I grow mine by the rear of my yard by the alley and people come by and steal them. I do internally laugh because they are always full of ants!”
“I’m have experience with this issue and, while deer damage can look this way, it’s highly unlikely as marigolds are undesirable edibles. It also looks like damage done by people stealing blooms. So we can say it’s highly likely a human did this as the deer or goats wouldn’t…”
Several gardeners express frustration after someone stole their marigolds. They vent about the theft and question whether it was a deer or another person, seeking validation for their feelings of sadness and disbelief.

“Honestly same because sometimes beautiful is literally the only word that fits I just stared at it for a while and had nothing smarter to say”
“Thought you meant a gang using crow bars… Wow, I am grieving on your behalf. I thought all the squirrels digging and deer stomping all over my lawn looked bad but it’s nothing compared to the damage in your yard.”
“Clean cuts are usually not made by quadrupeds. Either way, it may be time for a fence.”

“Such beautiful colors and so cool to have his own legacy flower to grow every year! Looks like that spider is loving it too 😁”
A garden like that deserves to be shown off, it’s absolutely beautiful.
“Your garden is beautiful. I like to think of a garden as a piece of artwork, a small man-made ecosystem that is appealing to look at and obtain nourishment from. Nature isn’t perfect; plants don’t naturally grow in perfect rows and boxes. Nature is random, yet balanced. I love this style of garden, and I’m willing to bet you have a much more diverse population of wildlife that lives within and off of your garden. To me, a big part of the beauty of a garden is related to the diversity and life fo”
“That is the only healthy way to look at your garden, it is for you and no one else. I admit that it can be quite hurtful when you are proud of something and share it and the person you shared it with puts it down. This random Internet person thinks your garden is lovely by the way”
I am so sorry, you did not desrve thst🫶wishing you the best
“I have done container gardening but the deer are brutal and don’t even move when we go out in the yard. Very difficult to protect the garden. My yard even backs into green space and they hang out in the yard! This totally caged in garden is by far the best success I’ve had growing anything and the Tromboncino squash has absolutely produced but takes over the garden.”
“I’m so sorry, I’m so so sorry, my heart hurts for you. I wish I could offer a hug, if you like hugs. I wish I could help you. Just know that other people have experienced things like this, you aren’t alone in that, because this can feel so alienating but these are normal human responses to what you went through. Everything you’re experiencing right now is temporary, remember that, allow yourself to grieve over the trauma you’ve experienced, and in time you’ll move around this, past this. Please”
“Did you switch their locations to see if the sad one gets happier in the other spot?”
“Trust me, nothing is truly deer proof. Unlikely doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen or couldn’t, and especially deer definitely do not always leave other signs. They are remarkably light-footed, leaving fewer hoof prints than would seem likely. Every single morning, I watch a few of the local deer grazing on my lawn, but I challenge you to find any scat anywhere in the lawn. I have never seen any anywhere on the property, in fact. And I’m still wondering how an animal without upper front teeth also p”
“I had neighbor kids pluck off every one of my echinacea flowers as soon as they expanded. 😡”

So we can say it’s highly likely a human did this as the deer or goats wouldn’t likely, and probably would leave other evidence like scat and other damage as they don’t just eat one nice flower and move on. Thanks for taking the time to make sure I knew what I mean though!”
“My relocated marigold is perking back up and there’s a bud or two left. Might be a metaphor in there somewhere. Whatever the case, it brought me great joy this afternoon. submitted by /u/JustTeaThankU [link] [comments]”
“I have never tried this, I started some in little pots on the deck and they haven’t been eaten yet but I am sure as soon as I put them in the ground they will be haha”
“The sub is not filled with skeptics. It is filled with people who, believe it or not, may have more plant experience than you do. This plant was not “ripped” off. That is a bite. I have been in the plant industry for 13 years now. It is literally my job to understand and recognize when groups of plants may be experiencing some problems due to pests, wildlife, etc. I understand you had a plant stolen in the past. That is not what happened in this case. If a human bent down and ripped a flower off”
“Someone with one of those horrible little ring doorbell cameras maybe caught them on camera, worth looking into imo”
“My toddler is likewise a flower fiend. Every single walk he tries to pluck a flower. We’ve talked about letting them grow, leaving them for the bees, flowers are for sniffing. We’ve compromised on only plucking dandelions (and others when he’s extra sneaky)”
“That’s how you encourage a child to continue picking ppl’s flowers n plants from their gardens. It’s not sweet to go onto someone else’s property n steal/destroy their shit. Then lotta these kids become grown ass adults that continue this behavior. (Disclaimer that I’m extremely pressed that so many ppl continued stealing plants n flowers from in front of my parents small business that they now only plant “boring” cheaper plants they won’t be as attached to. Like I watched an adult man circle ba”
“Don't worry, that experience has now given you the title of gardener. Hope you grow more soon”
