I’ve used the same debit card information ever since I signed up and started driving. I cashed out today and even got an email from Amazon that the payment was sent to my bank.. I check an hour later and I haven’t received the money…

BIN attacks is apparently what hit the Bilt credit card a couple years ago. It was a huge problem. Many of the fraudulent transactions happened before the new cards arrived in the mail.

r/CreditCards18h ago

I never had any fraud until this year. One debit card that was never used anywhere and then two credit cards, one of which that hasn't been used in a while. I also had another credit card replaced early with a new number, but I never saw any fraudulent transactions on that card. Maybe the bank's anti-fraud measures blocked something really sketchy though.

Go through the store first, because this sounds like a duplicate capture on their side rather than Citi deciding whether you bought something. Ask the manager or corporate customer service to pull the transaction by date, register, amount, and last 4 of both cards, then refund the Citi charge. If they stall, send Citi a written billing error appeal with the AmEx receipt, AmEx statement, Citi statement, and a short timeline, then file a CFPB complaint if Citi still refuses. The receipt showing th

I just leave my debit at home in my desk drawer (filing cabinet with key). I only use it to withdraw money which is very rare. Last time I withdrew was… May. Had to repay my grandpa for something and he doesn’t have any cash transfer apps like cash app or Zelle so it was this or check and I have no checks.

I have about a dozen cards. I’ve only had one fraud issue and I tracked it to a gas station I used that was not the normal station I frequent. There are a few ways the scammers get card info. They can use a skimmer at a physical point of sale, they can hack into your personal account(s) where you have the info stored, or they can hack into a company/payment processor’s systems. Your personal account is likely easier to hack into (depending on your passwords and security) but then they only get a

With a receipt showing AmEx paid the $132, the store should reverse the failed Apple Pay charge first.

r/personalfinance1d ago

No, that's not a validly authorized payment. The store erroneously took money twice without providing 2 things. The computer/technology might have authorized the payment but op certainly didn't voluntarily agree to pay twice for the same thing. Almost assuredly the store is at fault--presumably some crappy payment processing code that doesn't handle certain edge cases/error states where the payment is authorized/processed by the payment gateway but their internal code doesn't rec

Not all tellers have access to this information. Call your bank and ask for card services.

I think it makes sense, the story leads one to assume the store pos has no record of this transaction. This feels like a mess up on the cc company's side

Hello! I'm at a loss for next steps and would appreciate some guidance. Back in late May I took my daughter shopping, she tried to use the card on Apple Pay at the terminal. The transaction failed. It was not declined, it failed. The worker said to try again. I didn't have the physical card with me, so I pulled out my AmEx and used it to pay. My receipt shows it was paid by Amex. In June, I noticed that the charge was on my Citibank card. that's the same charge that failed at the ter

Saturday I went to buy school supplies for my daughter and when it paid it only deducted 72 cents from the balance. I checked my TD app and apparently someone got my card information and bought VG CARDIOFORMEN for 29.90. I locked my card and waited until the transaction posted to my account before disputing and getting a replacement card. Should I have called the bank right when I noticed the transaction? Is there a realistic chance of me getting my money bank? submitted by /u/Blesse

Once your son card is compromised (i.e. that first time), regardless if it was for single purchase or recurring, it can be entered to any number of merchants to be saved and used. If some of these merchants have an auto-updating service going with the issuers (which I just found out the issuers like Visa and Master get paid for as a service for merchants), and their system is compromised, new cards info from a re-issue automatically are compromised too. This auto update thing is STUPID AS HELL a

Hey all, looking for a gut check on what happened and if I should expect more from my bank, a local credit union- I lost my debit card on a saturday. Realized it on monday, called and cancelled the card. They said it would take two weeks for a replacement to arrive in the mail. I halted, said do not mail me a card, Ill go to my bank and have them print one. Drove to the bank, had a card printed, good to go. Come thursday, a card shows up in the mail. I do not activate it, just toss the mail on m

I woke up Saturday morning to see my card was used for $500 of purchases on ticketmaster and event insurance. It very much wasn't my purchase but the bank has to do a fraud investigation. I'm just curious how they will be able to tell it wasn't me, since I do buy tickets from ticketmaster as well (but never the event insurance). I called immediately but they said they couldn't do anything but freeze the card until the charges actually posted - which was today. I'm so scared t

Pull all three credit reports from AnnualCreditReport and make sure every fraudulent account, late payment, collection, address, and inquiry connected to the identity theft is actually gone. If anything is left then you haven’t dealt with the fraud yet. This something you report as identity theft, not a generic credit report dispute over inaccurate information. Did you file an identity theft report through IdentityTheft.gov and send that to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, or did you just clic

It’s coincidence. If you didn’t make the charge, and it’s not related to a subscription you have, file a fraud claim through your bank on the charge and get a new card. If you have fraud on your card, you can’t just block the merchant, it means someone else has your card and is using it. You need a new one. If you signed up for a subscription, you cannot just block the merchant, as it only blocks the merchants name and the merchant will reattempt under a different name. You need to contact the m

I had 2 credit cards compromised within 2 weeks and there are some very strange circumstances. Here is the story: Credit card A is used for everything - gas, groceries, online purchases, etc. Credit card B has not been used for 2 years and is from a totally different bank. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a $500 charge for an airline ticket on card A. I called the bank and started a fraud investigation and eventually they refunded me the $500. They sent a new card which took about 10 days to arrive.

r/CreditCards3d ago

pls call citi now and make sure they put a fraud alert on ur account too, not just freeze credit

r/CreditCards3d ago

They didn't use the account for more than a year except for two charges. Starlink and Google play store. You don’t have to use your account more than twice a year for charge backs in the US. So long as it’s 60 days from statement.

r/Banking3d ago

I have had two new cards issued by Citi and shortly after I received both new fraudulent charges happened on them, with a third one now on the way. Things got taken up a notch yesterday when someone called Citi impersonating me and got Citi to initiate the process for mailing a new card in my name to a different address (Citi did not disclose it other than to say it wasn't the one I have on file with them). I only got a very vague alert from Citi that there was a new message for me on their

Hello, hopefully someone can help me. I had a charge made from 8/17 that I JUST noticed and it's labeled "Y CAN PURCHASE." After a lot of contemplation and research. I am finally deciding to freeze my credit. The only credit bureau I've been able to successfully create a account and freeze is equifax. The other two, straight up breaks when I attempt to even create the account. I've even tried different browsers. Is freezing my credit on equifax enough or do I actually need to somehow create the fucking accounts for experian and transunion? submitted by /u/OkAngle2353 [link] [comments]

Number probably needs to be added somewhere specifically. If need be, asking the banker / manager to escalate while you're there to their internal help desk. Last resort, contacting PNC fraud department, which may know the answer. It's odd reading others having similar problems for a technology that's been around for decades. It's basically an iteration of 3D Secure, which supports various passive and active verification methods, including texting and push notifications.

r/Banking6d ago

It does end in 1212! I’ve called PNC three times and contacted visa twice. No help, they just keep bouncing be back and forth. I think I have to stop in and show them to get this figured.

You presented your card as payment in exchange for a service, yes? This is why Chase says it's not fraud. And by fraud, they mean your card and/or its information stolen and used without your authorization. You should have instead filed dispute as "charged higher amount than expected" as that's technically what happened.

r/CreditCards7d ago

Some payments made through bill pay can be sent out as checks drawn on your account. Did they tell you who the check was made payable to? Did your payment to the credit card company clear your account?

r/Banking7d ago

man the same thing happened to my friend in Barcelona last year, identical scam with the card machine. chase is being ridiculous here, you were literally deceived about the amount which is the definition of fraud when the supervisor calls, stress that you did not authorize a 3500 charge and the merchant used deceptive practices to obtain your card. ask them to look at the timestamp of your photo matching the transaction time, that's solid evidence also file a police report in Paris if you ca

Hello! I was in Paris for work in Feb (I have a very small business) and I came home with a mysterious $3500 charge on my account with Chase credit cards. I filed a fraud claim and they got back to me that my claim was denied and was not considered fraud because I presented the card in person. Well, I did some digging and I was apparently a victim of this scam. Another article linked here . BoA flagged the check and I confirmed it was fraudulent so they removed the charge, and then I froze that account, opened a new one, and transferred everything over. I also changed my username and pw and turned on all the alerts and more aggressive 2FA (I always need to get a text any time I log on now). The thing that baffles and scares me is that they knew the exact amount of my last CC payment. I'm assuming they used this number so that I might get confused and think it was just that paym

Hypothetically, a guy let his girlfriend use his Chase credit card only for small normal purchases like food/groceries. She later used it for a bunch of online casino deposits that he had never authorized. She told him what she had done before he discovered the charges himself. He then checked the account, saw the transactions, cut off her access, and replaced the card. The amount was too large for him to just absorb immediately, so he filed the casino transactions as fraud/unauthorized. As of r

r/CreditCards8d ago

You need to close the card and get a new one, that'll prevent the unauthorized charges thats been recurring.

I have chase bank and this is literally the fourth time now I am constantly getting hotel or vacation charges. This even happened on my debit card as well! At this point I am lost and have no idea what to do and asked Chase to investigate sometime ago. In addition to this, I have a digital wallet and my old credit card information saved on my MacBook to automatically fill information needed. submitted by /u/ProcedureOk7468 [link] [comments]

r/CreditCards8d ago

I’m sorry but how can someone take a credit card out in your name and then “accidentally” charge something on it.

r/CreditCards8d ago

if they blocked your card, any recurring transactions paid for using your card will need to be set up again with your new card number when you get that. as a general, your job should not need new information for payroll deposit since the bank only blocked your card, and did not close the account your money is deposited to like you stated.. it would be worth double checking with your bank what exactly was done if you're not sure :)

There were 2 Temu transitions made on the same date. One for $100 that says Temu Wilmington DE, and one for $350 that says Boston MA. She disputed the charges and they took them off her account. Just one of thousands of fake websites and companies that run transactions from compromised cards. The bank will probably open the claim back up with a written statement from your husband stating that he is not familiar with this company and he did not perform any transactions with them. Call a banker and ask what steps they need from your husband to open the dispute back up. Stop using debit cards for daily purchases and online purchases unless you link it to a digital wallet like Apple Pay and
