“Calling a plumber to come take a look but just curious if this looks like a fridge leak issue or potentially something else. I cant pull my fridge out but it looks like it is damp toward the back also.”
Plumbers are dealing with persistent leaks, mysterious substance growth in plumbing systems, and restricted water supply lines due to white build-up. Concerns also include toilet functionality and the need for qualified professionals to handle permits.

“Had a plumber out last week for a leak under my Ideal Logic boiler. He thought it was a pipe and tightened it, although I thought it was coming from the MagnaClean filter. Put the heating on for a couple of hours today and about…”
“Recently noticed bubbling in corner of a bonus room at the back of my house, we had some bad weather from a recent nor'easter. Rained again last night and you can see the discolration in the paint now. Not sure where the leak might be coming from. Took some picture of potential entry point. Corner pictured is back about 16" from gutter. Roof is about 12 yrs old. Fascia on sidewall looks good. Downspout was secure. Could the edge be rubbing through the shingles? submitted by”
“Yesterday I noticed some water under my water heater. I put a water detector next to it and waited until today. Tonight I checked it again and there's still some water around it. It's this normal? From some research looks like it's cooked, is that true? I'm trying to figure out this so I can call my home warranty but I don't want them to come over and say it's normal, because I'd still have to pay for the service request. The blurry picture is from the back side, that”
“I have a very strange and difficult problem with a water leak in my bathroom, and I would really appreciate your advice The leak appears on the ceiling of ground-floor open parking area , directly underneath the bathroom, around the area where the bathroom sink is located. The plumbing installation is made of copper pipes . The problem was identified and repaired by a plumber in the past. After the repair, everything was fine for approximately six months . However, the leak then appeared again.”

“Hot water is coming from that wall and bubbling out. I didn’t notice it until today and has now shut off the water immediately. I will call a local plumber first thing in the morning. Or should I call now? Has anyone seen this before? The red circle is where the water is coming out from. Edit: gas water heater is located in the garage about 10-15ft away from that leak. I don’t see any water leak from the garage. The water immediately stops leaking as soon as I turn off main water supply su”

“I noticed wet-looking areas and heavy white/brown mineral deposits on the concrete around my gas water heater. There are clearly older dried water marks, but the darker area looks newer and appears to run from underneath/around the heater toward the nearby sump pit. The water heater is still producing hot water normally. I haven’t identified active dripping from any visible connection yet, and I’m not sure how old the unit is. Does this look like the tank itself may be leaking, or could it be co”
“Looks like your water heater is leaking from the bottom. And a piece of 1-1/2” PVC has been lazily shoved over the 1” drain on the heater pan. Meaning the water you’re seeing is probably coming from your water heater, which is then seeping out of the drain pan and leaking around the 1-1/2” PVC. Pull off that 1-1/2” PVC and see if there’s water seeping out of the drain pan at that spot. Either way, that heater appears to be leaking.”
“Hi all - I recently got a home inspection which brought a few issues to light. We recently saw a small leak coming in behind the window trim of our master bedroom. When the inspector was here, he had a thermal gun show that there was some water leaking horizontally near the heat pump, and he could trace it back to the window leaking. The inspector mentioned that the pipe work from the heat pump should not be horizontal in the wall and needs to be vertical so the condensation doesn’t have a place”
“I live on the 4th floor of a 6 floor building. Some of my pipes were rusty and while the guy left to get a part, I heard water start to flow out. It was stable before. Video attached, I was coincidentally taking a video of the setup when it happened. I dried it immediately and put something underneath. A couple minutes later a little more water overflowed again. I have also been having issues with my dishwasher draining - the motor and dishwasher itself is fine, it will start to drain but senses”
“Out playing games with friends tonight - pop up storm rolls through and drops hurricane volumes of water for like 20 minutes and then goes away. Wife calls me - our sons bedroom is leaking from the ceiling. Came back and found a couple new cracks in the ceiling - went into the attic to inspect... It's an old farmhouse with a low slope roof except for the 4 corners where it angles down sharply. Immediately see the water in the insulation directly below where the angle down begins. Top board a”
“This water intrusion makes zero sense! A few days ago I noticed some water buildup along the wall and ceiling. Its almost under the HVAC which is why that is the first thing I checked. I then thought it could be the result of a bad thunderstorm last week (blew down part of my fence), but the water showed up days later and dried then got wet again progressively with zero rain. I have contacted my homeowners insurance to have a roof inspection but at this point that is making little sense to me. I”
“Hello! I woke up to a water meter box that overflowing with water. After emptying and seeing how fast the box was filling up, I called the city and they said it wasn’t an emergency so they would send someone out in the next week… Not wanting to wait, I got to work and dug around the meter outlet, where there was some previous work done to add an irrigation system a few years ago. Found this: a rusted iron fitting/valve(?) looking thing after my water meter box that has a leak between it and the”
“First off, I appreciate this isn’t much to go on!! I live above a pub and a shop. At the ground level next to the pub (where this wall is) is the shop. Today the pub sent me and the shop owner the attached picture of a leak in the pub garden. To me it is unclear whether this is coming from a pipe or from the wall/ ground. I also have no idea whose property (mine or the shop’s) is to blame here, if it’s either of us. The second picture is what it looks like now, hours later. Clearly from the weed”
“Hi everyone . So I noticed a brown leaking spot in my bathroom that was also in the hallway closet adjacent to the bathroom upstairs . However for the life of me I can't find what is causing this leak in the attic . I found the wet spot but I don't see anything coming from the HVAC that indicates where the leak is . Drain pipe outside drilling as normal . AV runnning cool , air filter changed today (was dirty) , the drain pan is complete dry. I don't see leaks from the PVC pipe or th”
“I found a leak in my bathroom floor last night, I suspect it’s the flange/seal. The flange had to be replaced a couple years ago. The old cast iron had been busted and rigged by the previous homeowner, I found the problem when the toilet starting swinging free on the floor. The plumber broke up the cast iron and replaced it with this style fitting, where the only mechanical connection is the outward pressure from the rubber inside the pipe. It’s always rocked/moved a bit, which I was told was no”
“Shortly after we moved in over two years ago we received our first report of a leak to the apartment below. This resulted in MULTIPLE visits from contractors and building management who could not find a cause. Eventually we had our tiles in the bathroom replaced as the contractor said they identified a crack that was causing the leak to below. A small while after our toilet starts SINKING through the floor. This begins a whole chain of events: at first contractor gets a piece of wood and secures”
“Two or three years ago I started noticing a water stain on the ceiling of my closet. The second floor bathroom is directly above. The stain never really looked wet, it was just there. Then recently I thought this thing is slowly getting bigger. So one day I decided to get to the bottom of it and cut a hole in the ceiling. I have determined the water comes from the sink but it is a very strange situation. A normal wash your hands type of usage produces no water below. I have run several tests and”
“5 yr old John woods gas water heater. Area with harshly hard water. Last hwt died after about 5 years from corrosion due to hard water. This one just started leaking yesterday. Very slow leak. There’s some water in the lower drip tray, but also in the tanks base. The insulation circled in red is wet from soaking up some of that water. All insulation above the area circled is NOT wet. I’ve rules out a leak from the end of the T&P pipe as it extends below the tanks base directly into the lower”
“Doing some investigating for an upstairs shower leak in my house and while following one of the water lines i saw this, anyone know what it could be from or seen anything like it ? Threw my multimeter on it and wasn’t getting anything back. submitted by /u/bananaisman [link] [comments]”

“There was a decent amount of water that I believe is coming from the pressure tank. I originally thought it was the sump pump but it’s actually dry around it (in the corner). There’s about 1/16 inch of standing water in some places so pretty concerning. I ran water and waited for the tank to kick on to see if I could find the issue but couldn’t see anything significant happening. Any ideas on what it could be or what I should expect when I call a plumber? submitted by /u/Dlooooow [li”
“I was sitting in my living room when I heard it. Drip. Drip. Drip.,, Then I looked up. Water was seeping through the light fixture on the first floor ceiling. The fixture itself was filling with water. I panicked and turned off the main water valve A pipe burst in the bathroom upstairs. Now I have water everywhere. The ceiling is sagging. The light is full of water I don't know who to call. A plumber to fix the pipe? Or an electrician because the water is right next to wiring? I'm terrif”
“Could any experts help me figure out where this leak might be coming from? For the past few days I’ve noticed water dripping from just one corner of my tank. It’s not enough to soak the floor, but a few drops fall over the course of the day. Could this just be condensation — like humidity building up and dripping down one side since it’s winter? Or is it more likely an actual leak? submitted by /u/PerformanceDeep2735 [link] [comments]”
“water will tend to build up in the metallic venting if it is left for an extended period. of course, a tank leak is also possible. did it eventually stop?”
“Was tilting unit to move it up a couple stairs and it started leaking. Found white stuff floating in water. Dark stuff in lower drain and something a bit smelly, maybe from tank. What am I looking at and smelling? We’ve been struggling with wildfire smoke and high temperatures. Warm nights, so units (I use two in great room) have been working hard. I try to alternate. And always end the day with 30 min of fan on low. They’re off at night. Pictures in Comments. Please let me know if I should post”
“Found this in my Attic, above it’s my furnace’s chimney 90 degree turn point, is this a condensed water or more like an active roof leak? Thanks! submitted by /u/auqingye [link] [comments]”
“My water heat is leaking small drops from underneath. It was bought & installed in 2016. I got in contact with a plumber who said i need a new one but i just want some input, if this is a sign that the water heater is permanently damaged. submitted by /u/Intelligent_Money215 [link] [comments]”
“I live in Texas we have had a LOT of rain this year. Especially this week. My wife noticed mold on the ceiling of our bathroom closet last week. I went up in the attic and found the section of ceiling above the bathroom to be stained and a bit moist. I put my phone down on the stain and took a picture straight up. There are vents here, but the roof seems COMPLETELY dry! It’s been pouring the last couple of days and not a drop of moisture on the roof. I haven’t noticed mold anywhere else. Obvious”
“Looking for some opinions before I pull my water heater and start tearing things apart. I recently noticed a water stain on my ceiling directly below my utility room. The darkest part of the stain is directly underneath my water heater. My setup is a little unusual. The condensate drain from my furnace/AC appears to drain into the water heater drain pan. There is no visible drain line connected to the side of the pan. I’ve lived here for 5 years, run the AC every summer, and have never had any i”

“we rent. the building (built in the 70s) has continuously had problems with the pipes while we've lived here (ie leaks). this brown clay-like substance started coming out of the faucet about a month ago. it doesn't happen every time we run the tub but often enough to be an annoyance. new corpo landlord that took over in the spring ignores maintenance requests. is this super concerning? submitted by /u/little-autobot [link] [comments]”
“I was up in my attic putting some luggage away, when I felt a drip of water. Looked at the air handler, and you can see the copper pipe going into it seems to be leaking something (water)? I traced the pipe back a bit and saw a couple other spots where there was moisture as well. Now it is super hot here so not sure if this is normal, but thought I’d ask around before reaching out to an HVAC technician. Any ideas what is happening? Based on some Googling, I might look for the drain to vacuum out”
“so we got a call from the city water telling us we have been losing one cubic foot of water consistently every hour. About 7 gallons a day. And they told us what evening that started- and it started the night that I turned this on- and couldn’t get it to stop running for a few minutes until my boyfriend slammed it down really hard a few times. We hadn’t been using it because when we bought the house we thought it was odd that the hose wasn’t connected to it (it’s close to the pool). So we switch”
