“Hey everyone, I'm a first time owner of a Rinnai tankless water heater. I was trying to get the front panel of the heater off and realized too late that these screws are not holding the front panel in place at all. The crappy thing is that I'm trying to secure them back in and it's no longer threading into whatever part it was holding in place. I can't even get the front panel off because of some type of adhesive sticking to the panel preventing me from pulling it off. I don'”
“Hi all. I've recently started hearing this strange noise from my Navient tankless water heater npe210a. I've also been experiencing inconsistent water temperatures. The water starts hot, but then starts to go cool hot cool hot. Sometimes, the hot water will disappear all together, and then I need to turn the shower off for a couple of minutes before the hot water returns. The noise it's making sounds like a squeaky hinge. This noise happens every time the water heater shuts down. Any”

“I just installed a RO system, but apparently the tank does not fill up all the way and the system is reading my PSI is under 40. I checked the tubing, it's all aligned. No leaks. I turned the shut off valve all the way to the left. Still the same. Is it possible due to me putting a compression cap on the T valve (see picture)? Or not tightening the T valve too much (instructions say not to)? submitted by /u/dharmabumzzz [link] [comments]”
“Hi I wanted to replace a radiator that is long gone so got myself a flomasta. I don't have much experience with pipes but before I call a plumber.. I have no idea how to connect the new 15mm trv and lockshield that came with the radiator (old one pictured). The pipe measures about 9.5mm so I'm not sure if that is imperial or if my eyes are deceiving me. I tried the compression coupler but it says no olive needed on the packet but doesn't make a solid connection (never used one so dun”

“Hi all, We bought this house last October. We were away for a month and I turned the unit off and the water to our house off. Upon return, I turned the water on and opened taps to purge any air. Then, I turned the unit back on. Everything worked fine. Today in furnace room I noticed my feet were wet. I also noticed a slow drip from the ‘Circulation Water Inlet’ like beside where the pipe meets with the unit itself. My question: - How would the amount of water leaking change like that? - Is this”

“Get a cap if you cant shut off all the way. If neither an option and hardware stores closed then put hose on and run to drain or sink or set it to vacation mode and shut cold water valve off to the tank.”
“Is this the pilot access valve or t and p valve? Is this diy fixable? Thank you! submitted by /u/airfreshjoe [link] [comments]”
“I got quoted 1500 for parts and install. Does that seem a bit steep? I’m trying the valve first since it’s a cheap plastic one currently that’s been on there for 20 years. Do you put the teflon around it and then just a thin layer of dope on the internal threads?”
“If you got the balls, drain the tank and replace the boiler drain. It just spins out so remember your tephlon and pipe dope(in that order). But gotta agree with the other guys here that thing is almost drinking age. Doubt it's got much left. Electric water heaters are no problem to install tho if u ain't afraid of a little fire and way cheaper than their counter parts.”
A couple months ago, it was running but not this badly/often. All I had to do was move the float down slightly, and that fixed it. Now though, it’s running every 10-15…
“If you have switched off the power and flipped it back on, the next step would be to bypass your filtration system if you have one. If the water returns, it was your filter needing replacing. But because your picture shows zero on the gauge, the very first thing I think is your pump is bad. I happen to work for a well warranty company, WelGard. We offer very reasonable rates for coverage. Check them out.”
“I appreciate yall! Saved me a lot of money. Bleed the circulator pump and we are running smoothly.”
Flappers are inexpensive and really easy to replace. I would start there.

“I recently had a new water heater installed and the guy who installed it said the sound of the water running to the water heater when he turned it all back on sounded a bit high. Of course I'll be getting a pressure gauge to test but this is my current setup. I've seen the videos online of exchanging these out but I have not seen one with piping like this? All I've seen are PEX or copper regulator replacements. What's this black pipe? Do I replace it all? submitted by”
“Just curious how this works. Is there a valve to let air in but not sewer gas out (to break suction)?”

“First time homeowner trying to get some advice. Last Sunday my T&P valve broke and water started rushing like a faucet out of it. I shut everything off until a local plumber came and said the valve needed to be replaced. I replaced it, everything was fine, 6 days later it started dripping 3 or 4 drops a second. I had to have a different company come out and he took a few looks at it and said I need a new water heater. I did notice that when he replaced the T&P last week when he turned th”
“Should’ve started with the T&P lol that may have been the only thing that was bad. 25psi is high unless your house is 4-5 stories. 5psi per story above the boiler plus a 3psi buffer is how it should be set. Edit: also verify expansion tank is set properly, should match set pressure of boiler”
“After 21 years backflow preventer is leaking (or doing its job) and the PRV is leaking a bit when boiler is on. Pressure and temp of boiler does not go over the PRV rating. Replaced expansion tank, PRV, auto filler, and will do backflow preventer next. Plumber said the house hold pressure must be negative to create all this to happen. Water pressure into the house is at 70. Other plumbers look puzzled. What could cause the leaks? submitted by /u/PhysicalNight370 [link] [comment”
“I have it disconnected and have the new one, how do i get this out alone? I'm strong but I don't think I can limit it over the pipe and even if I had another person there's barely any room for two people in that space. Is there a way other than cut gas and cut the pipe off? submitted by /u/mAckAdAms4k [link] [comments]”
“I rebuilt my PRV last night. Unfortunately when I opened it up the inside of the value looks like it has taken some damage from the ongoing pressure leak. The small o-ring on the middle of the piston was deteriorated into multiple pieces. When I closed the system back up after replacing the rear o-ring, piston o-ring and diaphragm. I regained the ability control the dynamic pressure but the static pressure is still over the value rating and equal to street pressure. My question is did I do somet”
“If its running constantly I would unplug so its not running dry. Pumps dont like that. Take the lid off and check the float. It could be stuck or caught on something especially if you live with women or have long hair yourself.”
“Buying a house built in 1997 in South Florida and my previous post had everyone saying how bad CPVC is and how brittle it gets. The water heater is original from 97 and I’m gonna have to replace it. “Been having warm time with a persistent leak from just one side of the two bolts that came in the (standard metal bolt) replacement kit. The toilet was originally installed with plastic bolts, so am considering reverting. Before I do, does anyone have any experience with these types of counter sunk washer pictured here? I am advised that they are less likely to cause cracking being only hand tightened. submitted by /u/coolieskettel [link] [comments]”
“I’ve replaced the o ring and the blue ring TWICE and I still have issues. You can see some bubbles in the bottom of the pic around the blue seal - that’s where the water is slowly leaking into the bowl. I’ve moved the seal ring up and down to see if that would help it and got nothing. What’s the next thing I can do? The noise is driving me crazy with it always refilling and it’s just wasting water. submitted by /u/Cornontheja_cob [link] [comments]”
“Hi everyone! First time posting in the sub and I was hoping to either receive confirmation I’m on the right track (or get educated) or maybe receive recommendations. Long story short, we want to reclaim space in our limited laundry room and go with an external tankless water heater. Currently we have the following; 2 full bathrooms Kitchen sink Dishwasher / washing machine (not sure if this is ever a factor) Note: we do have plans to add a half bathroom in the future Note 2: Our house currently”
“First, make sure the float on the fill valve isn't rubbing against the side of the tank. If it is, rotate the fill valve. If it's not touching, replace the fill valve. Purchase a replacement at any hardware or big box store. Shut off the water supply to the toilet. You don't have to remove the supply hose. Just lift the locking collar and swap the heads. See this article for step by step directions . How to Replace a Fluidmaster Toilet Fill Valve”
“Hi all, I'm in Virginia running a water heater with an Aquatherm unit. I had an issue where I could only get hot water if I turned on the heat, which is a bit of issue in the summer time haha. I was reading that it might be like a ghost loop thing, so I placed two check valves in place (one at each line just before the aquatherm unit). Just wanted to check with the group here as to whether that was good placement and a strong solution? Our hot water and hvac all seem to be working normally n”
“I am trying to replace the hose on a Kohler kitchen faucet that was starting to leak - I contacted their customer service and have the replacement hose, since they have a lifetime warranty. Cool. I cannot get the hose to disconnect from the water supply - it is a collet connection and the collet refuses to move or release. Looks to have at least some mineral build up. Does anyone have any tips that could help? I have a Kohler YouTube video of exactly what I am trying to do but my first post was”
“I don't have an expansion tank nor do my neighbors. Should we? What don't I understand?”
“This noise happens every 12 hours consistently and independent of water usage; it seems to be coming from the PRV. We don’t have anything appliances or sprinklers or anything on a timer. Doesn’t sound like typical PRV failure. Could it be some wonky water hammer? I’ll be having the pressure checked in the morning. submitted by /u/Interesting-World-13 [link] [comments]”

“Hi plumbers, non-plumber here, just a wannabe handy gal in her 20s. I installed a simple bidet attachment on my apartment toilet today. I noticed when tightening things up that there’s a very slow leak from what looks like the tank bolt. The leak is only on one side. There aren’t any leaks that I can see coming from the adapter or hose that I installed. Is this leak somehow related to the bidet installment? I didn’t do any manipulation of the tank/tank bolts. I just cut the water off, attached t”
“First time we've been in a home with the water-efficient toilets. And I've never seen this type of blue and white float valve (and flush/flapper thing). I don't see anything defective/worn with the flapper (where it might be leaking out water nearly as quickly as it comes in). I didn't notice a sound when pushing down on the flapper (but I don't think trying to hear that is too reliable (not with my own ears). Unfortunately I didn't time how long it took to fill. I'm”
“I just moved into this house and had a new hot water tank installed. The water throughout the house gets hot, but not as hot as I'm used to. My girlfriend is unhappy. Is it the mixing valve? Any help is appreciated. https://imgur.com/a/51nCJnf submitted by /u/Pretelethal [link] [comments]”
“I have a small leak coming from a screw. There are no error codes on my tank and this happened after I flushed the water heater last week. submitted by /u/evasquez909 [link] [comments]”

“Toilet tank rebuild is what I would do. For warning. If your shut off valve looks crusty it probably gonna give you problems. I typically advise replacing that as well with a tank rebuild. I use the 1/4” turn valves.”
“You may have a leak on the flush valve(center, white piece). Water will slip past the flush valve into the bowl, causing the water line to drop down and then the tank will start filling again. You should get your maintenance team to check it out and swap the flush valve if possible.”
“Yes, I hate the accordion hose. It's in my upstairs bathroom as well. Do you know how to measure to replace it?”
“So I got a new aav today and it’s doing the same thing. I filled up the sink and removed the aav and when I let it drain a bunch of water blew out the top where the aav would sit.”
“A is fine for you water temperature, that wouldn’t be too hot to cause problems. Does your water heater have an expansion tank? As water heats up it increases volume and if it’s a closed system that increase in water pressure can cause the weakest link in the chain to slowly drip. Secondly I’d recommend using plumbers grease on the washer before replacing, but truthfully I’ve noticed a decline in deltas quality over the last few years. I now mainly recommend Pearl or Riobel. If you decide to rep”
“After flushing our toilet, it’s starting/stopping when the tank is refilling. Will run for a half second, then stop and start again quickly. This started in the last week. submitted by /u/SKJ8250 [link] [comments]”
“That’s not an actual air admittance valve - that is a spring-loaded piece of shit. Get a real AAV (studor or sure vent, etc).”
“I would check to see if you have a vent going all the way up through the roof in that area. If you don't, you could have a cheater aav that has failed in the wall that isn't functioning correctly. Unfortunately the only way to solve this is to open the drywall to check if both the sink vent and the toilet vent are tied together.”
“I was able to remove the flush valve with your help, thank you! As you see in the video, the gray piece lining the gasket is coming apart and was falling into the holes under the valve. Do you think that’s why my toilet is leaking? Is that gray lining a replaceable part or was it there as added protection/seal (like you would do when caulking something)? submitted by /u/skyklein [link] [comments]”
“Hi everyone, My wife and I did a lot of plumbing work today, and I’m looking for some advice on some (expected) issues we’re having after it. For some background, during the last heating season, we found that our relief valve was leaking near constantly, sometimes being fully open. We found that this was caused by our fill valve being blown and filling the system to full house pressure. Once the heating season was over, we turned everything off and left it for a while. Between then and now, we i”
“I'm more than a year late but I'm leaving this information for anyone else here, because there seems to be a lot of confusion. The situation behind your heater might be totally normal for your area. Your water heater may have a floor drain as required by local ordinances. Like any drain, there will be a trap designed to retain some water. This water acts as a seal to prevent sewer gasses from floating up into your house. Unlike most drains in your house which are constantly filled when y”
