“Yesterday my water sensor in my attic air handler went off I went to check it out and saw a tiny bit of residual water in my drain pan that looked like it was dripping out of the service door....I popped the door open and found a pool of water inside my air handler sitting on the bottom of the unit It was right next to the coil and it looked like it was getting passed the built in drain somehow The drain lines are completely clear, and I'm having zero issues with my unit otherwise The unit i”

“We have a freedom 80 furnace and what I believe is a Trane TXCO36C4HPC0 comfort coil sitting on top of the furnace. We noticed today that we had a significant amount of water dripping out of the bottom of the unit after the AC ran for awhile. AC does blow cold so that part is working. I verified my VCMA pump on the right hand side works after pouring water in it. When looking under the unit I can see a drip near the rear of the unit; however, when looking where the blower motor is with the contr”

“Probably a dumb question. Just had a tech replace the evaporator coil. After he left I noticed a gap where these portions of pipes connect. “I live in an apartment complex in Florida, & in the summer I tend to always have issues with my AC unit pan or safety switch tube filling up with water & the unit shutting off. I've read if you flush the unit with vinegar monthly, it can help reduce buildup & blockage. For my unit - where should I pour vinegar to keep the unit clean? I don't know anything about AC units - I just know there's the pan under the coils, the safety switch tube, & then a second tube to the”

“My garage heater drips from what I assume is condensation in the winter. When I originally installed it there was a pipe kit that was like another 400 dollars which we just didn’t have the budget for at the time. Now I’m kicking myself thinking that is what may be causing our issues. On cold / windy days this heater will drip (see the first picture for residue). I was thinking if either replacing the final external pipe or adding some sort of wrapped insulation around the pipe but I’m not sure i”

“Even though I just had the coil and compressor replaced and there was some dripping out the bottom, I believe this water was collecting even before because I’d notice this dip and just figured “that’s odd”, but today I gave it a little nudged and it’s water logged. This is a downdraft system so all the ducts are below the floor and there is one intake in the room where the unit is. Do I have to disassemble this to get the water out effectively? What about the insulation? If it’s wet, replace it?”

“OP, is there something inside that pvc that’s sealing around the condensate line? I see something black.”

All of a sudden it’s leaking from a seal or something where the drain is. Is this fixable? It’s leaking pretty bad so I’d like to get what I need tomorrow and get this thing patched up. Recently I noticed that a small bottom portion of the tank and both ends of the copper piper are rusting suggesting that the leak is more consistent than I thought. When I found it I first checked the drain, no clogs and draining fine. Then I pulled the secondary plug for the condensate pan inside the unit, nothing which confirmed drain was working. Tech came and took the cover off, filled the condensate pan with water to the brim, no leaks so no crack in the pan. Any ideas? submitted b”

“Hello, I'm sure this is a common question but I have a furnace that is leaking, at the back outside of the furnace when we run the heat it was completely fine during the summer months. I have cleaned the line and hose and put air into them. I know there's some water and a little bit of rust at the bottom of the compartment. “EDIT: Adding a vid because I don’t think I explained how bad the setup looks. The wood around the HVAC is visibly wet, the metal is heavily rusted/corroded, water is actively dripping, and there’s a plastic bottle/container being used as part of the condensate drainage setup. I’m also emptying a tote of water approximately every other day. I don’t know if the smell is mold, so I’m not claiming that it is, but there’s now a definite damp/musty smell that wasn’t there before. Also wondering what m”

“The drain is right here but is it normal to have a little bit of water on the inside? Inside the air handler behind the red plug. Maybe 1/8 of an inch or something along those lines? I’m trying to figure out why the pvc pipe is collecting water. “Hello, The metal access panel in my bathroom ceiling has been dripping with water lately. So a couple of weeks ago I opened the access hatch to see what's going on and noticed that the drip pan below my air handler has water coming out of the corners. I thought it was peculiar that the pan isn't really a formed up-turned kind but instead just a flat metal sheet that is bolted to a steel frame above it with a gasket in between. I guess this is pretty common - though seems like it would be”

“What part is the copper piece with the round flat end and the smaller copper tube coming in and out? Is it normal for it to be wet? Unit is 10 years old and the picture is after I cleaned it with some sanding, but am thinking about putting a small stainless steel tray in top to collect any small amounts that might drip in the future while still being very low profile to not impede airflow. “Water condensed into the pan, wouldn't drain, and overflowed down into the surrounding area (e.g carpet). I figured it was the (main) drain pipe, took it out, and noticed it was clogged at the p-trap. Did the contractor do it correctly? I am redoing the piping. “Hope someone can help me out here. My ac unit stopped working and I think it is due to the condensate pan being full and not draining. The black pan below the air handler is completely full of water. The condensate pvc line looks to have adequate downward slope. I looked inside the air handler and there is no water. See 1st picture with the rusted bottom. It looks like the water from the bottom black pan isn’t moving to the drain lines inside the air handler. Am I correct? If so, any ideas on ho”

“Everyone is confused in this thread. It’s the effect that AC and furnace condensate has on metal plumbing. It’s acidic and contains bacteria that create a biofilm. This causes the drain to rust out and the jelly stuff you’re seeing is bacteria build up.”

“I have two units in my home, and I want to keep them performing at their best. I have a unit that, whenever it is running, I can hear water "dripping" from 20 feet away. I checked the P-trap, and I saw no water, so that tells me that the drain isn't clogged. I checked the pan underneath (gravity drain), and it is dry. So the only thing I can think of is that the pan is suffering a clog. So I opened the panel to check the pan, and I noticed the coils were rather dirty. And the last”
