“Question for HVAC here — when you're on a job (especially older installations), how often do you run into a part you can't easily identify If it happens: how much time does it usually cost you to figure it out or find an equivalent? And what's your current workaround (photo to a…”

“Seeking expertise. We have a call in to our HVAC company, but they’re slammed & have only two techs on the weekend, so likely won’t be here til Monday AM. Thought I’d check in with the good people on Reddit while I wait. Our Trane (model 4PXCCU60BS3HAAA) is only four years old…”

“Have a 3 year old unit and all of a sudden it keeps tripping the breaker. AC company guy came out and suggested a hard start kit and quoted $550 (Houston TX). Are these worth it? I know a couple friends that would probably feel comfortable installing it if need be. Thank you! submitted by /u/Drunken_CPA [link] [comments]”

“Hello! Had my 4.5yr unit freeze up on me in NWFL. Technician came out and narrowed it down to the EXV. He called and the part is under warranty still and said that he recommends replacing some coil he would have to remove to access said EXV. All said and done, quoted me $978 (in addition to the $89 diagnostic call). Is this something that will continue or could be a one off event? submitted by /u/collapsedbook [link] [comments]”

“Does anyone here use this model? I need a new one for my one-man hvac business and like the idea of replacing a sensor myself versus sending it in annually for calibration. Also like they appear to be made in USA. Looking for feedback from anyone with experience using this model/brand. Are they any good? submitted by /u/MN-90 [link] [comments]”

“How do you guys handle manufacturer warranty claims on parts you didn't sell/install? Asking because a buddy of mine runs a small shop and was venting about how much of a pain the paperwork is — chasing down serial numbers, submitting to the distributor, then following up on the credit. He said half the time it's not even worth the hassle for what they reimburse. Is that pretty universal, or does it depend on who you're dealt with? And if it IS a pain — do you just eat losses on stuf”
