“I've had this since new in 2015, always ran perfect. Always used non ethanol gas, always change the oil every year. I last used it a month ago. Today it started up fine and ran for about 5 minutes then just shut off. Now it won't run for more than 30 seconds at a time but always restarts. I pulled the carb, looked fine. I disassembled the bowl, no crud, pulled the main jet and checked all the holes and ran a guitar string through everything and sprayed it with carb cleaner. When I pulled”

“Hello. After a disaster, with connecting soft start device to a heat pump where additional capacitor was connected to a main capacitor, I am hearing a loud sound coming off the unit about every 8 seconds. It sounds like an inrush current is sent to the compressor. I will re-check with a clamp neater after the weather dries out. Is that a known issue and what should I do? The soft start device has black residue all over its board back, although I do not see any popped capacitors or melted wires.”

“I’ll start with saying the not Honda dealership has been great. They could have told me to shove off and didn’t. I did buy an “as-is” vehicle. The AC would work for 5-20 mins. Then compressor would turn off and it would turn warm/hot. They charged the AC. (This resulted in it being overcharged.) Didn’t fix it. Basic AC knowledge can tell us that’s just a bandaid anyways and it wasn’t low. Then they vacuumed the system and charged it. No fix. Cold for 15 mins and then warm. Now, they said the rel”

“My pressure washer suddenly just stopped pressurizing and I can’t figure out why. I removed the pump and flushed it in case there was debris stuck in there, nothing seemed out of place giving it a visual inspection. Does it need a new pump or is there something to look for that I can fix this? Troy Bilt Model 020641 Pump model 80011012 submitted by /u/Zavvvvy [link] [comments]”

I'm renting so I'm waiting for my landlords to get this fixed. I'm just impatient and wondering if anyone has any insight into what the issue might be/how long it might take…

“I have a Lennox XC16-S048-230-04 condensing unit with a Genteq 5SME39HLHE243 ECM motor. The unit started short cycling on a hot day (90-100 degrees) running for 1:15, shutting off for :35 seconds. I observed this for about six cycles and pulled the breaker. I left it off for 24 hours, replaced the Merv 11 filter (which wasn't that bad), and turned it back on the next night. I replaced the filter and turned it on. It ran for 40 minutes, cooled the house down, and didn't turn on again in 3”

Everything else works as it should. But have no clue why the spark dissapers some time when it is a lot of rpm changes it doesn cut out but when I’m holding a steady rpm it just cuts out and is really annoying when driving because I have to turn off and on the kill switch somebody h”

“I have a 410a Ruud condenser unit that will not run. I am trying to avoid calling for a service call by performing as much troubleshooting and testing as possible in hopes that I can repair the problem myself. I have an amp meter and several multimeters. I do not have gauges. I have been troubleshooting the system using my meters. The evaporator coil is dry and clean. I can shine my light through it. There is no oil residue on or around the TXV or other tubing and joints that I can see on the ev”

“Got a call for a 2 ton AAON RTU giving me a weird issue. Compressor will run for roughly 3-5 minutes and then the contactor drops out with a loss of 24 v from c to y1, but the condenser fan continues to run. The high/low pressure switches seem to check out fine, but they run through a 5 minute break timer. I’m also tracing the 24V circuit to figure out exactly what is causing the contactor to drop. I have a 1.5°F superheat and 54°F compressor shell have me concerned that I’m getting liquid flood”

“, I have a Lennox HVAC system in a house that is only a little over a year old, and I’m trying to understand what could have caused the compressor to fail. Here’s the exact timeline: - For the past few weeks, the AC had been struggling to keep up during the hottest part of the day. - An HVAC technician initially found that the system was low on refrigerant. - The builder’s HVAC company later diagnosed a bad TXV. - The TXV was replaced. - About 2 hours after the TXV replacement, on the exact same”

“That dead spot before the pump kicks on is the tell — the tank's air charge is set higher than the switch cut-in, so it empties before the pump gets the signal. Drain the system and check the Schrader valve; you want it about 2 psi below cut-in. If water spits out of the valve or it won't hold air, the bladder's shot and the tank's done.”

“I had a new ac unit installed earlier this year. It started doing this rapid short cycling soon after. It typically triggers during the initiation or termination of a cooling cycle. This happens more frequently in the evening and nights, and when set at cooler temperatures. When it does happen, I turn the unit off (usually overnight), and it usually resumes regular functionality during the day. Maintenance visited after the first incident and I think they drained a bunch of water, and it started”

NOW i bought a brand new one from home depot got it set up and now this one is doing it too right from the start. i’m thinking surely defect? i got the thing tilted at an angle for draining, the temp is all the way down, no”

“We have an air handler with hydronic heating coils. Recently the blower has started cutting out. It’ll run for 20 seconds or so then power down even on fan-only mode. The previous owners here left us a lot of what I’ll politely call deferred maintenance including what I discovered to be a missing filter on the air intake. So I took a photo down the intake duct and this thing is absolutely caked in gunk. I’m guessing the airflow is incredibly restricted and this may be causing the blower to cut o”

“Hi! Thanks in advance for any and all help! My ac unit is 10-11 years old - it has started to trip the breaker after running for a bit - I read somewhere on Reddit there’s a device I can add (dsc something something?) to lower the amps on start up? My capacitor on this unit is not the typical cylinder with 3 terminals but 2 capacitors as shown - how would I attach that amp lowering device? The ac unit is on a 35amp breaker - can I change it to 40a or the replacement has to be 35a? Any and all in”

“Having issues with the rooftop A/C popping the breaker and shutting off. I have a Fluke 87V Max that I checked both capacitors with and they are both within spec. When the unit is running, it blows nice cold air. ~25* colder than ambient. (checked with Fluke meter temp probe). The coils are not clogged. They didn't even look dirty. I just installed a new breaker and it still pops. Only thing I haven't checked is the compressor draw. I just ordered a clamp meter but it won't be in unt”

“Compressor stopped working yesterday evening. I opened it up, and the display on the control board was 04, locked rotor. I figured it's probably a bad cap, so I got a replacement, turned it off at the thermostat, and cut the breaker to the compressor. The error code then changed to 08, no line power. I swapped the cap, and waited about 15 minutes. The 08 code didn't disappear. Flipped the breaker back on, and the 04 code came back. Turned the thermostat back to cool. Compressor still not”

“We were having issues with inconsistent AC & thermostat scheduling, HVAC techs came out and said everything else was working fine. I replaced the thermostat, and it worked for a few days. Now it doesn't cool. If I cut the power & turn it back on, compressor & fan start up right away & run at full speed, then stop like this within a few minutes and never start again. It sounds like a clunk & gurgle near the compressor just as it turns off. https://reddit.com/link/1vw6lak/v”

“Maybe someone with HVAC experience can offer some advice. Small one bedroom apartment approximately 25x25 feet. BTU: 9,808/9,500 2nd new air conditioner doing the same thing with short-cycling on many days when it's over 90F outside. Ironically, it did not shut off when we had two really bad days of smoke from the Canadian wildfires, so that makes me wonder if direct sunlight is causing the problem. Nearly every time the short-cycling begins is when the temperature is over 90F. From what I&#”

“Hi guys, Can you please provide some help? Home Waaeantt Technician cant figure out the issue. The inducer motor randomly turns on and then runs from ~5-60 seconds and then stops. Then itll do it again after a short period. It will usually happen a couple times in a row and then stops for hours or even a day. This problem occurs whether the nest is in off, cool or heat. “Was chasing ghost on a residential unit for a few months. Turns out it's the condenser fan motor going into thermal intermittently. Every month or two it would hi pressure switch and lock out board till hard cycle reset. But while i was present and would run it everything looked good no issue. “Installed a new vevor gyb-4 pump yesterday first time changing a pump. Did many things wrong like one of them is moving the unloader valve all the way down. Long story short had to go buy a psi gauge to see where my psi is at now the machine is doing this weird noise can't describe it but sounds like a stutter. “I Have a Goodman Air Handler in my house and every time there is a very quick power surge, barely 1 second long, it causes my blower motor on my air handler to go very slow afterwards. In order for me to fix this, I have to turn the breaker off to the handler and wait a minute and then turn it back on and then afterwards the blower will go full speed once again. How could I fix this? If I don't catch the issue on time, it will cause my suction line to freeze up and the coil in the air handle”

“Ok I have the weirdest problem going on. My A/C shut off mid operation one day while I was cleaning and now I can’t figure out where to start. Ive made sure to check if the circuit breakers been tripped, checked the furnace switch to make sure it’s on and replaced the fuse on the kill switch outside but nothing is working so far. Here are some details: (1) A/C and Fan do not work. I hear the thermostat click but nothing happens when I turn it to A/C. (2) Outside condenser kicks on when I set A/C”

Readings were good, but for some reason the fan was spinning towards the compressor. “Hello all, Had a quick question and wondering if anyone has seen anything like this. My furnace breaker keeps tripping but only after about 10-20 minutes of the AC being on. If I run only the house fan/blower motor without turning the AC on the breaker does not trip. I confirmed that the compressor/condenser fan are on their own separate circuit. I also replaced the capacitor for the compressor. My landlord is out of town and doesn't want to hire someone, so I'm out of ideas. These circu”

“Lines and compressor freeze within less than a minute of turning the system on. The technician said the cause is a damaged indoor blower/fan motor. Does this diagnosis sound plausible? If so, what would be the best way to verify myself whether the blower motor is actually the problem before replacing it? It’s a very expensive repair, so I’d like to be sure the diagnosis is correct before moving forward. The unit has 12 years. submitted by /u/MushroomOk846 [link] [comments]”

“Need help diagnosing an intermittent ECM blower motor issue. My blower motor keeps cycling on and off during a continuous call for cooling. It will run for a few seconds, coast to a stop, then almost immediately start again. It repeats this continuously. While the blower is cycling, I have confirmed that the motor/ECM maintains approximately 112 VAC line voltage and the 24 VAC cooling command stays present the entire time , even while the blower is stopped. “Just got one of these units last may and it's died twice since then. First time there was a power outage and the head start blew. Then the compressor died two months later. Goodman only replaces the parts so instead of giving me a new unit entirely, they are replacing what is broke and making me pay for new refrigerant because it isnt covered by warranty. Yes, I have to pay for labor, again and new refrigerant. My question is, do I need new refrigerant? Cant they use whats in there already?”

“I was spraying out my float switch mechanism with a vinegar water mix that I have used successfully many times before. This time, after I plugged it back in - nothing. I checked the breaker and everything else. Did I kill it, or is there any hope for it? UPDATE: After spraying it out with some safe on plastics contact cleaner and compressed air, it's working again! “I moved into this apartment about 3-4 months ago and have had AC issues basically since moving in. There was an older through-wall AC that my landlord first paid to have professionally serviced/cleaned. That didn’t solve the problem, so she eventually replaced the entire unit with a brand-new Frigidaire 14,000 BTU, 230V through-wall AC . Unfortunately, the same problem is happening with the brand-new unit . When it’s hot outside, the compressor runs for only ~5–8 minutes, shuts off while the fan”

I noticed the condenser short cycling while the air handler continued running. The outdoor unit is an American Standard Platinum Model 4A6V8048A1000BA (variable speed, communicating). Attempts to power cycle the system to clear the lockout were not successful. “Honda GC190 Pressure washer stalling out after usually 10 to 15 seconds. No oil pressure switch. Oil is full. Runs perfectly for 10-30 seconds, then it dies. If I let it cool down for a minute or two, it restarts easily. I have replaced the fuel pump and the carb, no change. Choke lever and behavior is normal. Spark plug, spark plug wire, and coil all look nominal, and if they were compromised, I don't think the unit would run at all. I've changed the air filter. Another option would be”

“Was opening up to clean an old window unit that has been sitting in storage we had to use. And noticed strange yellow nodules around the top of the refrigerant tank that I don’t know what is.
