“Except with x money, they can't just suddenly disappear... Unless you believe ~2 trillion dollar SpaceX will suddenly go poof one day. Not really apples to apples comparison.”

Investors are expressing concerns about the valuation of SpaceX, questioning whether it is justified given its current revenue and losses. They compare SpaceX to other tech companies like Amazon and Nvidia, highlighting the potential risks associated with investing in a company with such high expectations.

“I am greatly exposed to sp500. After watching https://youtu.be/T-oXyXwD6sE?si=78B69OKPqCSHaRim , I can’t believe spacex valuation. I’m worried about my exposure to AI, since I have most of my money in sp500. Is shorting spacex a good hedge? It looks like, if AI is a bust,…”
“Is there any thread about SpaceX that doesn’t come loaded with Elon Musk related comments or slander primarily because of him. I recently invested 3k into SpaceX in my RothIRA and any thread here that I read is filled with emotionally charged responses and nothing to do with the stock future and potential. Any real investors or long-term investors who want to share their two cents? submitted by /u/Top_Mathematician761 [link] [comments]”

“Yeah don't invest in stupid shit like SPACs, SPVs etc.. Stick to public liquid low cost funds.”
“This particular case (Late Stage Capital) is rather egregious, oof. Talk about a shit show of a fund: this March 3 executives there pled guilty to fraud. Big difference in investing in a SPV that’s one layer between you and the shares (ie someone with actual shares creates a SPV), a whole different ball game investing in a SPV that in turn invested in another SPV, who invested in a third SPV, who owns shares … (and one of those SPV’s is not even domiciled in the US…) Being accredited only is sup”
“spacex reported its first earnings as a public company ,beats estimates and still crashed around 11-12% (like their rocket crashed)the reason could be investors focusing on ai capex jumping sixfold to $18.4 billion + a lockup expiry about to release roughly 900 million shares And then the most hated company disney beat and rose a couple percent .S&P and dow both hit fresh record highs in that same session. so market is at all time highs where good earnings are getting rewarded and punished d”
“I didn’t read all that but companies hire independent assessors to determine 409a valuations. Most external investors typically mark to market based on that. This isn’t the same as taking the company’s word or some other conspiracy. In rare cases investors with more resources will independently determine a fair market valuation that is different from the 409a number. For most investors this is not worth the time and effort.”
“Trying to form a general opinion and evaluate pros & cons of using SPV using SPCX as an example Did anyone invest in SPACEX pre-ipo If yes, pls mention price bought, time of purchase, Spacex valuation at purchase, Shares allocated on IPO, any lockin after IPO submitted by /u/Kshanikam [link] [comments]”
“Definitely not and I think those types of opinions erode any rational discussion. It’s part of the problem with these discussions. There are extreme views that take a position that is not defendable but follow the hive mind for whatever side they are on.I like to think in shades of gray and I am somewhere in the middle. Tesla? Amazing product, crazy valuation. SpaceX, some of the underlying products are indeed very valuable but the valuation is again out of this world, no pun intended. The marke”

“The problem with that logic is you're treating economic systems as if they all exist in a vacuum, and you're setting up a circular argument of if its successful its actually because capitalism, if it fails it must have been socialism. It completely ignores the decades of external hostility toward any nation that attempted to build a socialist economy. Almost every attempt has been met with near immediate intervention from captialist super powers, particularly the USA. Nixon activeley worked to ca”
“I'm extremely bearish on SpaceX due to its horrible fundamentals, media coverage, and my belief that holders of locked-up stock options will sell once their shares unlock. I plan to buy puts and short SpcveX at a weighting of about 2% of the Nasdaq, since that's roughly its share of the index's market capitalization, so it should hedge it out. submitted by /u/Fit_Time_7861 [link] [comments]”
“I see so many “retail SpaceX investors are weeping” and “anyone who bought SPCX at IPO is under water” posts, and it doesn’t make sense to me. The IPO price was $135 and it’s still comfortably above that. Whenever someone says I’m “under water” because I bought SPCX, I look at my brokerage and still see green somehow. I didn’t risk anything I’m not willing to lose in SpaceX, so I’m not worried. I just find the preemptive doomsaying to be bizarre. submitted by /u/Caelford [link]”
“(Via Y!Finance:) SpaceX stock dips below $150 before rebounding So, by the time index funds start buying their required shares, maybe the price will have adjusted to a more reasonable [OK, maybe "less unreasonable" 😎] price after all, and we won't ALL be bagholders. What think you? Did anybody predict that price discovery and short-seasoning would happen in this timeframe? submitted by /u/DeeDee_Z [link] [comments]”
“I’m in 10k and down to 8.5k now. My parents asked me how SpaceX actually makes money after the stock dipped a little and I honestly had a hard time explaining it~~ Like I know they launch rockets and satellites and stuff, but then I started talking about Starlink, government contracts, reusable rockets, Mars, internet from space, and somehow I sounded less convincing the longer I talked. Help guys. submitted by /u/bobbyvlx [link] [comments]”
“How are they gobbling up everything elon musk promises spacex will do? such as their AI promises, etc etc. Like, what stops me from making a company, and promising that it will reach a total addressable market of 30 trillion, because i will be selling oxygenated air in bottles, and well, if people pay for water, they can pay for oxygen too. And then i will own like billions of shares of this company and go public, but only offer like 10 shares to the public, so they can fight over it, and increa”
“We all know SpaceX is monumentally overvalued. Never bet again Elon but the numbers are just way too insane. 100x revenue and still losing money. 2.105T market cap. At some point this is gonna drop like crazy. But not before us regards take profits. So what’s the play here? Tuesday June 16th is when the options market opens for SpaceX. I’m gonna be placing call spreads from whatever the starting price is to \~25% above it for a 2.5 week contract. And it’s gonna work (hopefully) because of the fa”
“I keep seeing people talk about the SpaceX price like it already proves demand is insane, but I’m still stuck on the selling side. If IPO allocated holders risk losing access to future IPOs by flipping, and insiders/large holders aren’t really selling yet, then how much of this is actual price discovery? A price can go up fast when buyers are excited and natural sellers are basically discouraged from selling. Maybe that’s just how IPOs work, but it feels weird watching everyone treat the first f”
“My guess very far away around 2028. Goldman projects 322 billion in AI revenue by 2030, blah blah it’s not going to happen. Grok is a pile of shit that says Elon can drink piss better than any human in history (it actually said that). Why am I posting? SpaceX is overvalued, everyone knows that, everyone who bought it l knows that. Some think it will be undervalued, I don’t. Elon has a history of making lofty predictions then moving the goalposts but this never translates to a reduction in his we”
“Everyone is cheering the 19% pop like it proves something. It doesn't. Let's actually look. SpaceX closed today near a $2.1 TRILLION market cap. Their 2025 revenue? $18.7 billion. That's a price to sales ratio of about 112x. Not earnings, SALES. And they didn't even have earnings, they posted a $4.9 billion net loss for the year. For context, Apple trades around 9x sales. Nvidia at the absolute peak of AI mania was around 30x. SpaceX just IPO'd at nearly 4x that, while losing”
