“Long story short, I am no longer interested in working in tech like I have been for the past 10 years. Fortunately after 10 years of working in tech I have a good amount of money saved up, enough to work part time or take a job that pays significantly less. I don’t mind writing…”

“Hi yall, I don't normally do much writing on these things, but im needing some advise/general info. So I don't like my current career, and am thinking about changing completely from a normal 8-5 business type job to Radiology tech. I love photography and feel like Radiology tech is similar in that its imaging. And also already have a BA in psychology, and while doing that really liked the anatomy/physiology side of psychology. Its been nearly 15 years since though and am wondering about”
“In Paris they have companies that do not require French, and some allow remote work. But the market is hard for juniors. You need to be different from the candidates and be seen different as well. What seems to be desired from engineers in these days of AI is to be able to so work beyond just coding - collecting requirements, defining deliverables and splitting work into iterations, DevOps skills. Building AI products is hot now. The best thing you can do while looking for a job is to build prod”

“First off, I would like to clarify that I know that this question kind of has an implied answer in it, which is to NOT give up your passions. That is how I view this topic at least, but I really need your advice since basically no one around me can help I'm a late-teen who has a passion for making content/storytelling on YouTube, which I am currently pursuing and devoting my time into. On the side, I'm a student in a more science-focused class (bio, chem, phys, addmaths, etc) where I'”

“I'm in the US and the only way I was able to get a tech job was by going into defense. It was SO much easier and the interviews are a piece of cake in comparison. Most of the time it was just a single interview. I see people complain about 9 stage interview loops!”

“Just for context: I’m 27F, have an MA, and currently work at a tech company making about $120k/year. I’ve realized that I’m not someone who can be content in a boring or unfulfilling job, even if the pay and lifestyle are good. I’ve tried to convince myself otherwise, but I’m just not wired that way. I’d really appreciate some career advice. I’m at a point where I feel like I want to pivot out of my current field, but I’m not sure what direction makes the most sense. My current job is relatively”
“Hey everyone, I majored in tech in college, currently working as a PM at a big bank in the US. The work is beyond exhausting primarily due to bad managers and big push for RTTO. I am literally on vacation dreading returning because of the stress waiting for me when I’m back. Any advice on what I should do? Tech field seems absolutely pointless, though I have PMP, PMI-ACP, AWS certs + 7 years of experience, barely been able to land any interviews. I’m thinking of doing some type of program or sch”
Maybe do an mba ? Vesides that tech sales or something like that probably
“What about the cyber security industry? It will always be growing given that the tech industry will always be growing. or Government / Military? I see a lot of tech folks there are still working remote and I dont think they will change or want to lose those perks anytime soon? or finding companies expanding into international / new geographic markets? ie Asian companies (think Chinese EVs for example) expanding to the West or Latin America would need a lot of new projects and deployments. “Long story short, I am no longer interested in working in tech like I have been for the past 10 years. Fortunately after 10 years of working in tech I have a good amount of money saved up, enough to work part time or take a job that pays significantly less. I don’t mind writing software, I like technology and computers but I’m just really burned out from working high stress jobs for so long.Has anyone else made this transition to doing something else that is still in tech but not as stressful an”
“Hi everyone, as you know things are changing in the world and AI taking over a lot of jobs. I need someone career guidance. I am in my 30s and a single mom in Canada. I am ready to eradicate myself in something else. Is it too late to start over? What career would give me some security for myself and child? submitted by /u/peachedpeonies [link] [comments]”
“Couple of thoughts. Most regular jobs, retail, sales, manual labor, etc have relatively low pay and you impact at most a handful of people each day. Tech jobs are relatively highly paid (compared to median income) and you impact many people every day that you produce something that goes out the door. In that way, it is exciting since you get to affect many people lives for the better or worse and get paid pretty well to do it.”
“It's a good career on basic terms anyways. I've pretty much always had very good pay and work flexibility in the way other jobs don't afford.”
“I’m curious what you’d do in my situation. I have a BSc in Finance and Investments and an MSc in Quantitative Finance, but I somehow ended up working as a time-series database engineer for a brokerage firm. At this point, I’m neck-deep in infrastructure work and do virtually no finance-related work at all. The frustrating part is that I’ve always said I’m more interested in finance than programming, and that I never really wanted to be a programmer outside of a finance context. Now my career fee”
