“Oof. That is brutal. [re: "[rejection reason] + Please keep in touch and apply for future positions!"]”
“It's okay to get rejected from a job. It doesn't mean you're not a good worker or that you lack the necessary skills. Sometimes, you simply aren't the right fit for the company's culture or the way the team works. Think of it like a puzzle. You can be a perfectly good piece, but that doesn't mean you'll fit into every spot. It doesn't make the piece any less valuable; it just means it belongs somewhere else. submitted by /u/Numerous_Temporary11 [link]”

“I'm saying, need to adjust expectations, rejections is normal, your DEFAULT ASSUMPTION should be that you won't hear back, that you're rejected, or your resume went into a black hole, until you're proven wrong with the official written offer letter in your hand [re: Losing a lot of hope after rejection]”
“I'm not even here looking for solutions. I'm just here to vent and commiserate with everyone here and maybe you'll get a laugh out of my story. OK, I know everyone likes to say they apply for jobs they're qualified for and still get rejected because hiring managers want unicorns. But I am not exaggerating when I say I was THE UNICORN for this job. The job was for a state agency - not only do I work in that same position at my current office, but I work at the exact same agency in”
“I don't even know what to say other than you probably shouldn't want to work for such an organization. [re: 8 rounds of interview and then generic rejection]”

“You're better off not getting that job. Hits the ground running means stressful job with zero training. [re: He told me I was wasting his time]”
“In defense of this, I've had some really good and also some very bad rejections. Just because I'm disappointed on not getting the job doesn't mean the experience with the employer can't have been positive [re: the audacity]”
“I've been applying for jobs like a mad man. Most of them are in a large city that is an hour away, which isn't terrible. What is terrible, is this specific job is in cross fire of the unholy trinity of factories. The fumes are inescapable. It is better inside but I have had a headache every day I've been here and I am in one of those "sensitive groups." It didn't deter me from taking the offer because when I am around the area during the day for errands, it isn't th”
“Been job hunting for a while and, like for most people, it's been a nightmare. 10 years meaning nothing, financial stress, worrying about losing our house, trying to afford feeding my cute dachshund, and then I wake up to this. AI response first line - Certainly! God forbid you cut this section out or run a single test to make sure you have your little workflow working as intended. Subject in email body - doesn't even match the subject in the email And like, I try to be empathetic, right”
“You don't want to work there and you dodged a bullet. [re: He told me I was wasting his time]”
“In simple terms it's a bunch of BS [re: 7 rounds of interviews over 4 months, flew me to Dallas, then rejected me because I wasn’t “sold” on the company]”
“In that case I have the feeling you'll be unemployed for eternity! [re: Final interview to tell me … all the reasons they wouldn’t hire me?]”
“Let's address the elephant in the room first - I am that hiring manager who rejected the candidate and for the record I'm in my late 30s. I am not a young candidate either. I am on director level and have hired across Europe (Western Europe, Eastern Europe) and the Mena region 100+ people. I also have fired 10s, for which I am not proud, but there was always a very hard reason for this, including theft, violence (!), information leaked, etc. I have conducted over 500 interviews and have”
“I applied for an early career role around 54 days ago. I received an update on my application today stating clearly and directly “We wanted to let you know you’re not moving forward as a candidate.” Honestly, after 200+ applications in 2 months, I appreciate this more than being ghosted. At least I know not to pursue networking with the firm. What a clear and direct way of rejecting candidates. submitted by /u/ProofHotel7244 [link] [comments]”

“Rejecting a job is now burning bridges?😳 [re: I bombed an interview so I just sent them a rejection email]”
“To anyone who's been through the application process before is there any way I could find out why I got rejected, I've only received one of those generic "we regret to inform you letters" and id like to know why I was rejected in case I feel like applying again in a few months submitted by /u/UsedConfection5329 [link] [comments]”
“Blacklisted for taking the piss by bombing the interview then trying to claim you don't think the company is good enough.”
“I just got a rejection email from my dream job before I even got a chance to interview with the managers of the clinic. I’m definitely in denial right now as I wanted this to work so badly. Is there anything at all I can do now? I wish I could just get my foot in the door because this would be the perfect fit and I won’t find anything else like it :( submitted by /u/AdBeginning606 [link] [comments]”
“Got my umpteenth generic rejection to an energy reduction job. Reached out to the hiring manager asking what the weaknesses in my application were and they responded saying I was rejected due to my cover letter being too long. I saw the vacancy late in the advertising window and just added my long supporting statement with some tweaks as the cover letter (many of the jobs I've been applying for don't ask for a cover letter so I didn't have one ready to go) as the application included”
“Yes, but Americans are used to hearing those accents and they're very intelligible to us. Those accents aren't going to throw people for a loop. They'd have to be very thick to be a problem, regardless of our own actual accent.”
“My theory is they want diffusion of responsibility in case a hire doesn't work out like they expected. The burden of who's to blame get shared across multiple people. Because it's less likely for one person to say, I'll be the only interviewer and take all of the blame in case I chose a bad candidate.”
“This is one of the more polite rejections I received recently. 😩 submitted by /u/Creative-kitty [link] [comments]”
Was this rant about capitalism and Israel part of your interview pitch?
“Unfortunately, I haven't found any empathy for the applicant, at least in the last 6 months, personally. What gets to me is that we spend all this time interviewing, doing homework for them, and talking with the recruiter over email or the phone, without the recruiter or the employer being thoughtful about our unpaid time. I honestly think that if an employer needs no reason to let an employee go in a “Right to Work” state, we need legislation that protects candidates. What would it look lik”
“You were not impressed by my resume. If you were, you would be offering me an interview. You don't appreciate the time and effort. I was one of hundreds of applicants and I'm just a name on a sheet to you. You're not going to keep my application. Has anyone ever gotten a job that they didn't apply to? Even when the economy hadn't been recently fucked by republicans and their rich masters? /vent Edit: to clarify, I'm specifically referring to the non interview rejection em”
“Just had a conversation with a hiring manager just after I got rejected for the position. The reason for my rejection was that they were looking for someone who is more of a 'nerd'. I didn't know this was a requirement. Just sharing because I found this hilarious and soul crushing. This is a research internship position and they have been hiring people in their 1st year of university for similar roles. I think I am more of a nerd because I have finished my studied + a lot of publicat”
“Frankly I'm at the point where I feel like being the doorbell chud. Showing up to these people's homes until they give me a job or they call the cops.”
“Bro can't get clarence, much less clearance. Why don't people proof read their emails prior to sending them to potential employers?”
“I was still in orientation at a psych job (They gave me a whole 5 days), when I requested safe harbor. The house supervisor laughed at me. It was a Sunday. I texted the CNO. NO ONE EVER FOLLOWED UP WITH ME. Not a supervisor, manager, HR, NO ONE. I quit my next shift.”
“I just applied for a job a few weeks ago and of course got a very short two sentence rejection saying they will NOT be moving forward with me and that they’ll keep my resume for future reference. I feel like venting because it seemed like a good starter job for a new graduate like me but they rejected. Idk what else they want. Getting a college degree seems to have done nothing for me. Why did I waste my money on higher education if even the entry level jobs won’t give new graduates a chance? Ri”
Why did he email me this. And what's with the condescending "résumé pedigree" part like implying your pedigree isn't good but we're so nice we'll give you this opportunity anyway? Meanwhile I've…
Rooting for you on the job offer !! You got it in the bag 💪
“It's so one-sided. People who post jobs and interview candidates think nothing of being totally dismissive or not even giving them anything in the way of a response. It is hell.”
“oh man, it’s not only the font, also a number of over-qualified candidates right now…”
“I was recently rejected from Smith'sfly in program but the letter had very specific wording. "We know this is not the outcome you hoped for, however your application stood out to us . We saw your academic strength, leadership potential, and ability to make an impact in our community." Does this mean anything or is this typically of colleges? submitted by /u/Apolloschariot5 [link] [comments]”
“If someone was rejected for a position, it stands to reason there was someone better suited. That's how it works. I dont understand how this is a controversial take for you 😅 Your reply is EXACTLY what I meant by 'tough pill'. You will all sit here in this miserable echo chamber inventing stories about hiring processes that are somehow, by happenstance or coincidence, directly unfair to you alone, about how you were obviously the best candidate, and so on. You can literally scroll t”
“It’s okay, I’m getting automated rejections to positions I didn’t apply for 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈wtf”
“Why do these exist? Applied for a job at 11pm last night, got an email at 7:13am this morning saying the “thoroughly reviewed” my background and experience and I was not a fit. I am a fit, I have all the basic requirements, and the preferred requirements, but that’s not the point. They clearly didn’t have time to thoroughly review anything, and didn’t even look at my app. So why do these companies post these jobs? submitted by /u/Money-Nectarine6584 [link] [comments]”
“Whew that's sad and they're probably looking for someone who can manage their time well too 😞”
“Don't you hate that? You don't want to be so hemmed up in an interview you can't speak but then you wonder if you said too much, even if it wasn't bad.”
“I have three years experience in event planning at breweries and have a track record of bringing in revenue. I've been looking for a job for over a year now. I believed I was the perfect fit -- all my answers were spot on. I really think where I went wrong is saying that social media and events are TWO DIFFERENT JOBS. which is the truth. People don't do 50/50. They always pick one over the other. I guess the person they picked is more 50/50, which they will learn will not be the case. Al”
“What they said ^^^ exactly. It’s not you OP, it’s them & honestly it sounds like you might have dodged a bullet. Imagine if you had put in a years worth of work, if they can treat you like that after only 3.5 weeks without even contemplating the fact that maybe their training needs a refresh or to be updated or better employees training, you know what I mean? just from your post it sounds like a company you wouldn’t want to work for. Good luck, you got this - and go on LinkedIn Learning and”
