Though it greened up nicely, my Wifi sprinkler system didn't do a great job because by June of this year it was unsalvageable. I've reworked my watering setup and I think I'll have better luck this year. The question is.. should I stay with Super Turf 1 or are there better rated seeds out there for my climate zone 10a?”

“Of course. The area I renovated was roughly 2500 square feet for reference. First, about 6 weeks before I completely tore up the lawn, I put down a whole bag of The Andersons Dirt Booster and a whole bag of The Andersons Humic DG down. Second, I killed off everything using Compare N Save Weed and Grass Killer (Glyphosate 41%). This was a month before seed down. Third, I used an electric scarifier over the course of 2 weekends and leveled it as best as I could (I know… tedious, but cost effective”

“I know. It’s all my older grass that’s so long though. New grass I planted was around 4 inches. I didn’t want to mow sooner and hurt my new grass. I’d rather hurt my older established grass. For first mow after overseed. And that’s highest setting on mower.”

I live in a subdivion that was build by a cookie cutter company and we built the house about 10 years ago. No matter what I did, the lawn was always patchy and tons of weeds. “It is my only hobby. I play with my dogs and mow the lawn. Reel mowing under an inch is something I enjoy doing. Having the nicest lawn in town is something that gives me a lot of pride. As a veteran with ptsd and anxiety, once I get out and start mowing it feels like a lot of weight gets off my shoulders.”

“I have tiftuf in Sydney. You being out west it'll be a lot colder. My tiftuf in winter goes dormant and brown. If I was you, I'd bring in some nice soil and sew rye. Lawn tips at his old place like 5 years ago had a back yard of just Rye. Think he is out in Orange so would be similar”

“I did a renovation after some tree removals and did a TTTF KBG mix and I feel like it doesn't blend very well. The TTTF is a lighter green. Maybe it just takes time for it to get darker I don't know. It's been a few months now and I wish I would have done a KBG Rye mix instead. I did a few spots in the backyard with all Rye and that stuff is dark ass green. Even darker than the KBG but not a huge difference and I think it would blend very well.”

“Neighbors grass looks lush and nice, meanwhile I have a ww1 no man’s land of a yard. Looking for tips to improve/transform the lawn. Northwestern Indiana, gets below freezing normally most of winter. The second picture is after cutting it down to 3” a couple days ago. I’m thinking most of what I see is actually weed and not grass.
