“Going to get a frost tonight. I've reseeded with northeast blend and micro clover in mid September. Hopefully everything will be ok. Curious, did you get frost yet? If so, how is your recent reno handling the frost? Did you do anything for it? submitted by /u/Professional_Pie_999 [link] [comments]”

“I seeded my lawn with turf type tall fescue here in Massachusetts on September 20th. Grass blades are anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. I still haven't mowed yet, because it doesn't seem like the mower would do much at my normal cutting height (which is usually at the highest setting). The only fertilizer I've applied so far is starter fertilizer 26 days ago when I seeded. Should I still mow now at a lower height? Or should I wait to mow if and when it gets taller? Would it be bad to not”

“Did full renovation second week of September. I used SS5000 seed. Cut it lowest I could and killed everything first. Then I used one of those Jeff Bezos detachers and picked up as much as I could I had tons of clumping fescue. Areated and threw down soil, leveled it, then mixed the seed with Milo and went to town. I did use way more than it was recommended, which made me a little nervous. But so far so good. Did the first mow yesterday. The tree lawn is struggling a little because I didn’t use n”

“Hey all. Long time lurker. You’ve helped more than you’ll ever know! Overseed coming in solid and planning first mow this weekend. Question is with lite/moderate leaf coverage, for first mow (~3”) post-overseed would mulch or bag be better? Planning to do with dry grass/leafs. Many thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Fridaynight_special [link] [comments]”

“2nd mow today tryna get it to thicken up. Very happy with results but wondering when to add regular fertilizer (already added starter fert) to help stay green and mowing cause i feel like i could keep this up until christmas here in NC. submitted by /u/Foreign_Soil61 [link] [comments]”

“In North Texas where the summers are brutal. I realized for seeding, it’s best to do in fall but maybe I have past that window. Used to have lush grass but hubby accidentally mowed too low and the grass never grew back! Was hoping it would eventually but I fear it’s far gone. Do you think I could try to seed the patches? Sod just seems pretty pricey with how much we need to fill, but I also heard seeds can be tedious and not 100% success rate. For reference, I think Bermuda would be the move. &#”

“Well I finally did the work of over seeding since the kids love the backyard and was hoping to have a gold medal yard that I see here so often, but there’s work to be done yet! Overseeded 5 weeks ago with Resilience 2 after dethatching and raking and aerating. Yard was in rough shape mostly dead, and after seeding I spread 5 cu yards of compost and sand 50/50 mix since the soil quality in a Lennar lot is horrendous, and a high phos fertilizer. Watered religiously 4 times a day for 10-15 mins. In”

“I’m located in the Willamette Valley Oregon 8B. I overseeded my lawn about two weeks ago, and it seems to be coming in nicely. There were some pretty bare areas, so in those patches the majority of the grass is new. I’m struggling, though, because our toddler who is very high energy hasn’t been allowed to play on the back lawn… is the back lawn going to be off-limits for the rest of fall, or could it hold up to some play in the near future? submitted by /u/ScrollingOaks88 [link] &#32”

“Hey, i am new to lawn care and learning about lawn here in this subreddit. This part of my front lawn was taken over by weeds and clover etc. so i nuked it and seeded in September, and i am very happy with the results. My question; is there any guide on how to maintain it throughout the year that would actually work? I really don’t want it becoming a clover field once again. submitted by /u/NetworkDynamo [link] [comments]”

“Here’s my 1 month overseeding progress, I live in zone 5b and I overseeded my builder grade PRG lawn with my own blend of TTTF (65% amity, 25% 4th millennium, and 10% avenger III) this is the first time I’ve ever overseeded, it didn’t turn out the best but it was a lot of fun and a lot of learning, had a big unexpected storm washout some of the areas you notice are thinner near the sidewalk but other than that, I’m happy with the results, lmk what yall think submitted by /u/Dramatic_”

“They say to mow often to promote tilllering. I have mowed 4 times in the past 4 weeks. I’m watering every other day for 25 minutes. “Overseeded on 9/21/26 and did my first mow on 10/10/26. First time attempting this and followed a lot of the advice on here. Happy with the results. Mowed the lawn down to my mowers lowest setting, scarified and skipped the aerating, used Jonathan Green Black Beauty Golden State seed, covered with pest moss, and watered three times daily. After the first week I saw germination and used Jonathan Green Veri-Green starter fertilizer. This sub has taught me me a lot and I’m very grateful. subm”

“Got my first cut in today on my TTTF lawn! Overseeded on 9/27 in Lebanon, TN. Got extremely quick results this year! Hit it with Flagship 24-0-6 a few days ago, gonna let that kick in and start pushing more nitrogen and iron for growth and color this fall and early green up in the spring! submitted by /u/mdecker22x [link] [comments]”

“Hello. I just finished over seeding about 1 month ago. Got my first cut in. I’m cutting the lawn on the highest setting on my mower. I’m guess I’m wondering other than continuing to mow at a high level and pull big weeds by hand. Is there anything else I should be doing. “How we lookin? One year in, starting to feel like I’ve got the hang of it. Incredibly fertile land, no sprinklers or irrigation at all. “No? Just me? Another fall reno post. Missouri 7a. Twin city tuff turf. Had the patio poured and regraded the entire yard in late Oct 2025. Too late to seed then. Overseeded in Mar 2026. Quickly turned to all goose/crab grass and nutsedge + wild carrot by June. Went nuclear in August with two glyphosate apps two weeks apart and brought it back to bare dirt (clay). Aerated, top dressed with compost, overseeded Sep 4-5. Watered for 5 min several times a day with sprinklers on timers. Second mow sin”

“Scalped, detached, overseeded, and used starter fert about 3 weeks ago with Twin Cities Blue Resilience in zone 7a. Wondering if I should mow it at about the highest setting since some of the existing lawn is long and starting the bend over. My concern is the less established KBG that you can see in the second picture. Should I mow it or give it another week? submitted by /u/1o1Smileyface [link] [comments]”

“Pics are backwards.. couldn't be bothered to sort the order (sorry not sorry). Minneapolis area. Last week of August I dethached hundreds of gallons worth off my front lawn and mowed it down to about an inch. Overseeded with Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass from Outsidepride (Amazon) and no starter fertilizer. Used a B-hyve wifi timer to water every hour for 10 minutes with an oscillating fan style sprinkler and after I had germination went to 20 minutes every 2 hours to get a deeper soaking. Did”

“Zone 7b, I think. Willamette valley oregon. I know need to mow and i will soon. I overseed with pennington PNW blend. Dont know what was there originally but it was a mix of grasses, clover and moss. I do like the cover but it seems to stay in my bricks more then the grass. submitted by /u/No_Yogurtcloset6692 [link] [comments]”

“NE Oregon. Thatched and aerated my lawn and it tore up huge patches. Not sure if this is thatch or moss. The plugs from aeration had about 3/4” of this stuff. I over seeded and have been watering the crap out of it. It’s been about 10 days and I’m seeing some germination in some areas but not others. submitted by /u/MY2009wrx [link] [comments]”
