DoorDash drivers lose money on $2.50 orders

New DoorDash drivers frequently receive insultingly low-paying orders ($2.50) that barely cover costs. The app’s acceptance rate system pressures drivers to take unprofitable gigs, and support offers no recourse for disputing these orders.

Still fairly new to DD(under 50 orders) but I was wondering, if DD is super concerned about acceptance rates why do they offer deliveries like this? It’s basically a charity delivery. I’ve gotten several of these in just 6 days of doing DD submitted by…

If they’re willing to pay for a rush job and it won’t screw up other jobs much, go for it! I take rush jobs fairly often but I charge based on the inconvenience it gives me.

Your first 50 orders you do are a premium to sucker you in. I’d get $7-$9 orders back then. Now they’re more $3-$5. There were times where I’d just have to go and do 1-2 dashes, have it deposited to their crimson card and I’d immediately use it in my Apple Pay at the grocery store for dinner for me and my boys.

If I decline it once I shouldn't be sent that offer again!! At least bundle it with a tipper if you're going to send it my way again. *Eye twitching* submitted by /u/dystopiandisasters [link] [comments]

Today I averaged about $10 an hour. So I decided to stop and take a break. After ending my dash a survey popped up asking how my dash was. So I politely said that I had to decline many orders because they were bad orders. My last offer was $15 for 15 miles out of the zone. Even if it was in the zone I'm never going to accept it because at some point in time I will have to drive back to the starting location for $0. Two things I wish DD did: 1) Add a reason for the decline. Then maybe they wi

I think it’s official that there is something wrong with DoorDash. Heard some people say it’s the new dash whenever but I see so many posts about 20-40$ in like 3-4 hours. It’s been happening to me the area I work in is a college campus ( I know it’s summer ) but even in summer there was always good orders and good money to be made but recently it’s been terrible not only that area any area I have gone to there’s just no orders and when you do get a order it’s the shittiest one ever wtf we do at

Seriously guys, we need to stop taking these lowball offers. More customers act like we don’t deserve tips and some of them think $1-3 is a good tip lol Stop taking these stupid offers and maybe something will change. Fck the AR and CR. If it’s a stacked order, figure out which one is the low tipper and unassign. We can do lot better! submitted by /u/Alternative_King1789 [link] [comments]

Two days ago I started a dash and the very first order I got was a shopping order. I don't have a red card. I've never toggled shopping orders on. There was no way for me to accept and complete the order. So I declined. Of course my AR took a hit. I reached out to support via text and calling to complain. I was told over and over that "if you decline an offer, it will impact your rating". When I countered that I should never have been given a shopping order, I was told "we

It was a fairly sized order & thought customer could tip at least $10 after the delivery but definitely more than $4. Very nice elderly dude. Thanked & Wished me well and I reciprocated instantly. Question is if Tip was supposed to be added after the delivery then how come $4 was already sitting there? and then there was that message - Gold status gave you $6.7 for 2.3 miles - what do you think? DD did admit in the past of Tip manipulations several times to run their payroll. They paid f

I accepted this order at Walgreens. It was originally two orders for $38 with a 9 mile distance. I originally accepted it, as would anyone else, thinking it had killer tips. That was absolutely not the case but rather just an insane delivery payment. For some reason the $2 peak pay didn’t even show on the original offer. I’ve had a couple where the delivery fee was 5 to 6 dollars more than I would expect but nothing like this. I know a few months back some people are having some pretty crazy del

The only reason to take 2$ pizza Hut orders is to get one stamp closer to a free pizza. It's bullshit, this person looked so smug, she knew what she was doing by ordering pizza and not tipping in the app and not tipping after delivery, these people get off on our pain 😭 At least that order gave me my tenth stamp so I can get a free large pan pizza... submitted by /u/Medium_Cucumber_7730 [link] [comments]

7k deliveries. I do NOT tip badger. But with this one, I had something to say. Accepted, told her it was being cancelled for me. She said why? I said “$9 for an hour. The order will be delivered by someone else but it won’t be me.” She said “what about your tip? I don’t tip until after delivery” (we’ve ALL heard that before) Then she added a $15 tip. I called support and dropped the order. Thankfully the next person will at least get something worth the drive. And oh…. I’m NOT sorry for saying s
