Home-Media Hosts Lost in Plex/Jellyfin Setup

Individuals are struggling to set up and manage their own home media servers, often involving complex software and configurations. They seek guidance on server setup, software integration (Plex, Jellyfin, Radarr, Trakt), storage management, and user access control, frequently encountering technical roadblocks and a lack of coding expertise. The desire to replace cloud storage services fuels this effort.

How can I access local network plex server without need to sign into plex?

r/selfhosted10h ago

Yes. In admin dashboard you can set them up. Not sure if it is in iPhone app, but it does in Android.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I use VOD2MLIB alongside existing, non STRM media libraries in Emby. When the same movie or series exists both in my existing library and in the VOD2MLIB generated STRM library, the server indexes both and shows duplicate entries VOD2MLIB’s current dedupe options address duplicates within Dispatcharr categories/relations, but not duplicates against a separate external media library Describe the solution you'd like Add an optional “Ex

For direct play, one of the main things that can slow down a server/cause buffering is HDD read saturation. Would be good to be able to see that at a glance to know if maybe tdarr or something else is causing excessive reads. Be able to see seeders/peers for torrents in Home Screen would be great too as that's the main influencer for up/down speed.

after almost 15 years as a pure plex user (ran local server on PC, connected via rokus, own plex pass) I finally got tired of modern App development (tells you want you want, hides all the stuff you are looking for, more and more product placement and ads). I tried Jellyfin for a while, but it still felt like a downgrade on some of the core plex functions that I was taking for granted. Last week I went all in to dev my own side loaded app on Roku which is now live and in use on my whole network.

you can drop a file in VODS from the Dockhand terminal as root. Generate still gets Errno 13 on /VODS/Movies so it's not that user.

I mean, the dependencies is mostly data, except for ffmpeg due to licensing reasons, and the fact I may want to update it individually/make it replaceable. I already support loading system ffmpeg though so I suppose it'd only be data anyway.

I am currently developing a Dockerized media server (comprising Radarr, Sonarr, Prowlarr, Bazarr, and Jellyfin) on an older Ubuntu PC. I am utilizing internet connectivity from my Android phone via USB tethering or a mobile hotspot. I have encountered several networking challenges, primarily due to the unavailability of IPv4 on mobile networks, as the aforementioned applications and their associated services appear to have difficulties with IPv6. <img width="446" height="186" alt="Image" src="https://github.com/user attachments/assets/320bcfc8 532d 4131 a04a 4bc7fa6e5868" / 目前的订阅页面的“搜索”功能是执行了订阅板块中的搜索下载功能。但我个人目前仅将订阅栏目作为豆瓣收藏同步器。建议目前的“搜索”可以变更为“订阅下载”功能。并将原本的“搜索”改为点

currently only audio transcode available as i dont want to touch ffmpeg (license reasons) and all modern TV can play x264,x265,av1 as directplay i basically forked few libs, so code is MIT/Apache2 with forked/fixed DTS/AC3 encoders/decoders But i will keep this in mind if i will introduce that in future releases (or fix the driver)

Project marks 1 year And if you tired of RAM usage for Jellifin/Plex then its time to try it :) You can use phone or tablet to find what u need and then broadcast to any TV in house from it Can transcode DTS->AC3 now as well, all tracks at once, so you Samsung/LG tv can stream media even if all audio tracks in MKV are DTS And have 2 beautiful web interfaces that allow you to search files and cast them to TVs Web player opens MKV files with AC3/DTS inside and play video with AAC transcoding, s

I have setup an automated media server with jellyfin, seerr, jellybridge, radarr, sonarr. The obvious way to me is to create a symlink of each movie folder in the hers folder. /data/movies/mine/Awesome Movie (2026) -> /data/movies/hers/Awesome Movie (2026) I don't know Jellyseerr at all but if there's a way to run a script when something is requested then you should be able to automate it if the movie already exists.

Check out Remux in place of jellyfin. Its pretty great and the development is much more active. Also works with all existing jellyfin data, users, etc.

Has anyone managed to get this plugin working in Dispatcharr? Looks like it could be really useful to present VODs on an IPTV service to a library in Jellyfin. The only problem is that I can't get it to work. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, but it seems to be a folder permission issue and the plugin can't write the STRM files to the folder. I'm not great technically on Linux, and I've tried everything that I can think of, so I am wondering if anyone else has got it workin

Wow great stuff! Love that you are hosting the server and letting friends/family access it. I will have to look into that for my family too, there’s always that random desire to watch one specific movie yet it never seems to be on any of the streaming services. That is part what inspired me to make this too. Very cool

i keep bouncing between solutions for this and it never quite lands. scrobbling to trakt from each service then using something like trakt's own dash or a third party frontend is probably the cleanest path if you want one pane of glass. kodi has a trakt addon that works well enough once you dial in the settings. getting kodi to play nice with the same backend as plex and emby is the sticky part. most of the selfhosted trackers lean heavy on one ecosystem or the other, so you end up with a fr

The service I use most is Jellyfin for watching movies on any device I own (iPhone, Android TV, MacBook.) Is there a similar service for video game emulation? reddit.com7d ago

Sounds like you just need the NFS mount on proxmox to not be hard-mounted, use soft or background options so the LXC boots and apps dont hang when jellyfin box is down. Then have radarr/sonarr move files to a local staging dir, and a cron or script rsyncs to the NFS path when it becomes reachable.

Currently (after a bit of headache) I have a fully functional *arr stack with qbittorrent in one LXC, and another with seer on my proxmox server, then on a more powerful machine I run jellyfin. The whole system runs great, given that the jellyfin server is powered on, which it typically isn't overnight My ideal workflow is this, and im wondering if its possible: request is made on seer (while jellyfin is powered off) radarr/sonarr downloads to the local downloads directory on proxmox it chec

This does not work if the content you are interested in watching is whatever is current. Works for me though since most stuff I like is older. You really can get a ton of DVDs for dirt cheap if you know where to look.

https://www.retrobat.org/en/ https://playnite.link/ https://kodi.tv/download/windows/ https://www.launchbox-app.com/ Those are some options you might want to check out. I would start with Kodi, as it has in my opinion the best jellyfin client available. Or you could just use custom hotkeys or just alt + tab
