“My Shark vacuum stinks. The small closet I store it in magnifies this stench 10 fold. I replaced all the filters, the roller, wiped the other roller that can't be easily replaced, and wiped the inside of the canister: none of it helped. I assume the interior tubing/hose is where the smell is coming from? I don't know where else it could be coming from. “Finally found a laundry product combo that got rid of my 1 year old dog’s smell, even his smell + pee from the rubber-lined matt in his crate! Bought a $40 collapsible tub (40L) from amazon (which i can also use for his baths now). Used that to soak his matt, blankets, towels, toys, harness, and bed liner in separate batches. For the soak, I added 2-3 scoops of generic oxi-clean, filled with water, and left for 4-8hrs. Then came back later and added some enzymatic cleaner (i used Biokleen pet ve”

My kitchen is full of flies and dishes that gotten moldy, jewelry, clothes, takeout bags, books, food packaging, stains,..... just full and dirty I'm getting out of the little pit I was in for a bit, but am now on a visual level struggling to see where to begin. “Please help! I petsit locally and a couple of months ago I was away at a petsit for over a week. I was in a rush leaving and forgot to take the trash out, and came back midway a few days later and noticed the trash stunk so I took it out, and washed the trash bin and area thoroughly. I assumed the smell would go away. Well, now there's this chronic smell, it's kind of like a trash-y smell I guess is the best way to describe it, it's really hard to put a finger on. Is it likely my HVA”
“My room (and entire house in general) is where a garage used to be, so it gets super dusty really quickly, literally to the point where entire physical pieces of dust can build up in days, even after mopping. I mop regularly (usually every other week), but I recently checked under my bed and it looked absolutely horrid, so I realized that I still have a very long way to go to keep my room properly clean. In addition to that, my room can often smell pretty bad for some reason (I genuinely have 0”
“A mechanical part on it died last weekend so I've had all week to very thoroughly clean this thing while waiting on the replacement part to come in. The only thing not sparkling on it now is the rubber seals around the doors. They have some black gunk / mold on them. Not much, and not an unacceptably large amount for this thing having been running for 24 years, so what is a safe cleaning product I can put on these rubbery parts that won't degrade them yet will clean and sanitize them wel”
Yes, the carpet. I just used a Bissel little green pro extractor.

“I was gone for 2 mos. In that time, I didn't realize that my fridge died but it did. Now it has become this absolute mess and I don't know how to clean it. Any tips or is it a goner? EDIT: It died because my roommate unplugged it (IDK WHY) So! It still "works" but that is what it looks like now. I want to ask the landlord for a new fridge but I also don't know how to do that since technically it's "our fault".😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 submitted by /u/Over-Hom”
“Not really looking for advice or anything. Just thought it was funny to share. My pup likes to lay near my air purifier. She has a tendency to drop some silent bombs right as she falls asleep. Without fail, the Dyson is unhappy about the air contamination and kicks into max fan speed which startles her briefly and then instantly falls back asleep underneath the hurricane force wind. submitted by /u/HandbagHawker [link] [comments]”
“I was on vacation for about two weeks, and I only realized I had forgotten to clean out my lunchbox when I got back. Some mold grew inside and stained the rubber lining, and I also don't know how to sterilize the rest of the lunchbox to ensure it's safe to keep using. submitted by /u/PureRecognition9148 [link] [comments]”
“For most cases a vacuum and wipe down with basic interior cleaner is enough. If you have persistent odors then CLO2 product like biobomb kit is great for neutralizing all odors.”
“Hi everyone. I recently moved into a new apartment and this is the current condition of my stove. This really doesn’t look good at all makes me nervous to use it. Is this all just rust? Is there a way to clean it? submitted by /u/Proper_Squash1911 [link] [comments]”
“i moved into a new apartment and while using the oven for the first time it omitted a strong ‘bad’ smell and grey smoke whenever i opened the oven. after some chats ive come to a conclusion that it must be the lingering chemicals they used to clean it. last night, put it in 400F for 15 minutes and it stopped the grey smoke but this morning it still smelled and i got worried so i refuse to bake in it. how can i safely clean my oven? submitted by /u/tomatoglock [link] [comments]”
“I am poring over page after page of lists and reviews, but I'd love to hear from people who have actually found a setup that works. I can't stand the smell of clay litter, and I really don't want my new apartment to smell like "cat." I'm looking for the best litter and litter box setup for two cats with minimal tracking and odor. I plan to scoop/clean the litter box (they do well sharing one) every day and already have a hand vacuum for any litter that gets tracked arou”
“Hi! I’m coming out of a bad mental health slump and have recently gotten back into a regular cleaning routine. It’s not perfect nor as thorough as I’d like, but I feel comfortable having guests. Last night, I had friends over, and when I asked if the temperature was okay, one of them said “it’s not hot, but it’s kind of stale in here.” I don’t know if he meant to say “stuffy,” but I’m very bothered! It’s too hot to open windows right now, even at night, (we keep one cracked for the dog) and we h”

“Okay. I've tried FING EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OF, how do I get the oily smell (I'm sure it's from cleaning grease off the oven) out of kitchen cleaning rags? I've tried oxyclean (two brands/ types), vinegar, boiling, borax (multiple overnight soaks), hot water, cold water, bleach, dish soap in the boiling water. NOTHING WORKS!!! I JUST got a new batch of cloths for cleaning, they're only on their third wash and they're already starting to get that smell. HOW? PLEASE. I'”
“Every now and then, one of our L&D bed drop buckets would get left behind under the bed after it was put back together, and housekeeping missed it. That distinctive wet dog smell emanating from a room would usually alert me to go and check for a bucket with "contents." “We have a spare freezer in the garage that's used infrequently. We had guests in April who used it and when they left my husband turned it off not realising there was still food in it. Fast forward to this weekend and he goes to move it to a different spot and its full of mold He's cleaned it out with bleach. It looks perfect but I can still smell the rotten food smell (he can't). I suspect there's mold still somewhere that we can't see. He thinks it will be fine once its had”
“My ~8 year old ragdoll cat has a long history of peeing on soft/fabric surfaces. Carpet, clothes left on the floor, beds, bath towels, etc. She’s been to the vet numerous times to check for urinary issues, and everything comes back fine. The vets always say it’s either her personal preference or anxiety. She does pee in all three litter boxes, but also on the soft surfaces. The reason I’m here: she has been peeing on something white over the past couple weeks, which means I’m able to see for the”
“It sucks every-time I sweep and mop, no matter what I do dirt seems to just spawn out of nowhere. I am thinking of investing in a robot vacuum to do the cleaning of the floors, but at the same time they are wood floors and there is a lot of build up + I live in a small trailer. “My dog peed on my living room rug. I have a Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam and the Bissell Little Green Pet Pro. I’ve gone over the pee multiple times with the pet solution they sell for it. “We have our carpets professionally cleaned every 6 months. This last time I wasnt super impressed with the results. There's still that faint "dog smell" not urine or anything. Just how dogs smell. So I have now purchased a Big Green Machine. I did our carpet, pre treated with Rocco and Roxie for 30 mins and then cleaned with the big green using diluted Zep PET enzyme carpet shampoo. Did 2 full passes with that. Then rinsed and did 3 passes with water only and it's still got tha”

“We used the carpet cleaner to clean up cat vomit several times a few weeks ago and I didnt realise my partner wasnt cleaning it out after use. I was not there and it ended up sitting for about 2 weeks before it got emptied and cleaned out, plus he was using the same water and cleaner each time - probably about 4-5 vomit cleanups over the 2 weeks. It now has a horrid stench whenever it is used, even after cleaning twice with dawn for all removable parts and the brushes. Its a 3ish year old bissel”

“Recently i had some family staying at my home and either their dog or small child peed on the couch, not sure which. It is a large sectional couch with very thick cushions that do not come off and do not have removable covers. Unfortunately the pee dried into the couch as we didn’t notice until the next evening. I have an upholstery vacuum/shampooer that I have used a few times on the area. I did my first pass with very little concentrate since I don’t like smells like that and the rest with jus”
“My dog had surgery and though we tried TW: medical grossness to keep the original oozy wound and then the post-surgical drains covered with a t-shirt, every time she shook, there was (I'm so sorry, this is really gross!) splatter. “I’m looking for any tips/tricks to freshen up my house. I like to think I keep my house fairly clean, don’t leave dishes sitting, clean bathroom and change trash regularly but something is just off. We live on a busy street so don’t have windows open often so maybe it’s just stuffy because of that? I’ve tried the usual candles, air fresheners etc but I find they make one small spot smell very strong and nothing anywhere else. “I swear pet owners should get a badge for "hours spent removing fur from vacuum brushes". I have two dogs. Honestly the vacuuming isn't even the annoying part. Every few days, I have to flip the vacuum over, cut away all the hair wrapped around the brush, and clean everything out. Sometimes I think I spend almost as much time maintaining the vacuum as I do actually cleaning the floors. My current vacuum works fine, but dealing with tangled hair has become the biggest frustration. I”

My parents do not clean and I couldn’t stand it anymore, but I tried to fix our couch, which had two dirt stains all along the bottom from our dogs rubbing on it, with pet stain remover and when I vacuumed jt off it looks splotchy and almost bleached! :( I don’t know much about cleaning so I’m sorry if this is really stupid of me, is there a way to fix this or will we have to get a new couch? submitted by /u/Commercial-Data1862 [link]”

“Hello! I have a fabric couch and a few months ago my cat threw up on it (yuck). I have a Bissell spot cleaner, so I cleaned it up with the shampoo-machine and let it dry. The following days a smell lingered from that area, so I cleaned it with the Bissell again, tried hand cleaning the area with warm water and some soap, and have also tried odor ban spray to treat the spot. “Hi all, I have super bad ADHD and am trying to figure out systems that work for me. I've noticed every once in a while, I'll leave a dish out way too long with food in it and it gets gross and then I don't want to clean it, and usually end up throwing it away entirely. This also applies with cups, water bottles, and things that I drink from when they're in the sink and food particles inevitably get in there when I'm rinsing dishes in the sink.
