“This is my first pregnancy and second attempt at the glucose test since they ended up being out of the glucose drink at my first appointment. I've been nervous about it for weeks, here's hoping I still get to eat my comfort ice cream after today!”

Multiple posts express anxiety surrounding glucose testing during pregnancy, particularly among women with higher BMIs or pre-existing conditions like pre-diabetes. Some worry about failing the test and the potential for interventions related to gestational diabetes.

“Hi! I’m expecting my first baby in December. At 15 weeks I told my OB I was planning on moving states, and due to my family history and high BMI we decided to go ahead and do the one hour glucose test. I passed. Fast forward to 29 weeks and my new OB has me take it again. In a slip of judgment (my fault) (husband called me out and I ignored him) I had a plain skim milk iced latte and an English muffin with jam before. I failed tremendously at 240. My OB wanted me to come back for the 3 hour test”

“I had the glucose 1 hour test yesterday and was a little apprehensive. I know my normal fasting before pregnancy was normal, but being pregnant could throw that way off. I was tested earlier (I’m at end of first trimester) due to certain factors that put me at higher risk. I got my results this morning and I passed beautifully with a 99! That’s a weight off my mind right now. And I’ll hopefully avoid another glucose drink lol. submitted by /u/CaffeinatedGeek_21 [link] [comments”

“Hi All, I just had my GD test today. I am from Asia so here I have to fast from mid night 12. I am 23 weeks pregnant threw up at 830 PM last night everything from lunch and dinner, ate another dinner drank water, slept from 10 PM. Woke up at 430 AM due to hunger and couldn't even drink water. My hunger and acidity were peak but 2 to 3 sips of water is what I could have. Finally first blood draw at 10 AM, second at 11 AM and third at noon. Drank the glucose water at 10 AM and god I was sick b”

“First time mom, at 18 weeks the baby was at 50%, at 28 weeks he was 90% and at 33 weeks he was 99% with an estimated weight of 6lbs 5oz. Because of this, my doctor had me do a 3hr glucose test (even though I passed the 1 hr back at 24 weeks). Test results came in this morning at I passed. All 4 draws are well below the threshold. Now I’m just waiting on the doctors office to call to explain what we’re supposed to do now. I brought up an early induction at my last appointment and was told most li”

“I am five months pp and had gestational diabetes. My Ob was concerned about my A1C and ran a blood test to check. I got the results back in mychart and can see my A1C is high. I will wait to hear back from my doctor for next steps. Curious if anyone has experience this? I am breastfeeding and want to continue to for a year. submitted by /u/Specific_Anybody_438 [link] [comments]”

“I fail both my 1 hour and 3 hour glucose test and have been checking my glucose at home for the past 2 weeks. Mfm wants me to be on insulin because my fasting level is almost always over by 2 to 5 points. My question are... Because its only my fasting thats above and because its only slightly over should I be worried? If I do take the insulin will I be able to stop after birth? My regular prenatal doctor and nutritionist both said id be able to stop the insulin right after giving birth but mfm j”

“Hello, third time mum 18w2d have had hypertension in all my pregnancies, high risk for preeclampsia and just wanted some positivity and reassurance, I’ve been hypertensive now since I was about 13weeks and I’ve had my Labetalol dose upped a few times now on 200mg 3 times a day and multiple trips to my hospitals maternity unit, I’ve recently started getting protein in my urine too and started aggressively googling outcomes for preeclampsia at 20 weeks and can’t stop worrying I’m not going to make”

I had it with my first as well, so the diet and testing and all that is not new to me, I was able to manage my blood sugar levels with diet and didn't need medication with both pregnancies so far. I don't have a designated ob or midwife, I've just been seeing who is available (moved to the area halfway through my pregnancy.) Haven't really had an issue with that, everyone has been lovely so far. My frustratio”

“I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes early (failed 1 hr OGTT at 17 weeks and failed 3 hr OGTT at 19 weeks). I took the test early due to having risk factors for gestational diabetes (first baby was 9 lbs, and pre-pregnancy BMI was 29.5, so I was borderline obese). The stats about developing T2 diabetes postpartum are so depressing to me. I'm paraphrasing, but ACOG says one third of women will be diabetic soon after pregnancy. I'm terrified I'm going to have to eat this weird die”

“I’m 28 weeks today and have been considered high risk due to my BMI. Because of this I am getting growth scans done every visit in my 3rd trimester. Baby was in the 90th percentile today measuring about 10 days ahead. Looking back at my anatomy scan, baby was in the 84th percentile. She’s always been on the big side. My doctor was concerned about my glucose test and was thinking that it would likely come back as a “fail” since baby is so big. I passed my 1 hour glucose test by 2 points. I’m wait”

“Hi All, at 34 weeks 5 days, with gestational diabetes on insulin and my doctor planning to induce me 1-2 weeks early, I’ve been feeling a lot of lightening and a lot of thin white discharge for the past 3 days, and my baby girl’s head was down as of 31 weeks are these signs of early labor? My EDD was September 25th. submitted by /u/TouristAdmirable7771 [link] [comments]”

“On mobile so sorry if this looks a mess! I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant with my third. With my first two I had pre eclampsia, the first diagnosed at 35w and was immediately induced due to sudden skyrocketing pressures. With my second it wasn’t caught until my 39w induction. I also suffered from postpartum pre e both times. This time around I have been seeing a MFM for gestational diabetes, and with my history they monitor my blood pressures as well. At my first appointment with them the doctor”

“I know it isn’t much but I’m really worried about the three-hour test. This is my second pregnancy, but first to reach viability. I don’t want anything going wrong and now I’m feeling like I am failing my daughter. Did I do something wrong? I didn’t eat or drink anything for about 12 hours before the first test, I had it done first thing in the morning. I don’t want to risk anything this pregnancy. submitted by /u/ReachSouthern [link] [comments]”

“Anyone with a higher BMI who’s blood sugar was highly elevated during pregnancy (maybe pre diabetic) have any success “passing” their glucose test? Or for any moms who have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes after glucose test please share tips to make sure everything is fine. I’m a little nervous. I’ve been okay my entire pregnancy but with a higher BMI, 35 years old, slightly elevated blood pressure (under control with meds) and pre diabetic I’m getting scared. All I can do is walk and e”
