“Is the lawn currently being treated for weeds etc. or are you starting that? I DIY my stuff as it can save a lot of money. If the lawn has not been treated and is weedy, without seeing it I would suggest a fall treatment of 2 4D now that the weather is starting cool off. If it's your first time treating a lawn you need to confirm the type of grass and follow the directions.”

“Hey mate, im ADL aswell I suggest using some lawn fertiliser from bunnings and watering. You could also airate it byputting some holes through. If it doesnt work just cut it out, buy another piece of lawn and try lay it again and give more water. (If you have a dog its probably peeing right there lol)”

“My top 2: Getting topsoil/compost to top dress and level and not using tenacity. Was 100% weed (and poa) free until that mistake. Not applying a preventative fungicide. Lawn will stay wet for weeks, if you seeded PRG in particular, pythium loves that stuff. Everything else is not detrimental. Aerating, scarifying etc will help a lot as to the last 5% between very good and stellar results but… very good is pretty nice already.”

Not much you can do. Just leave it and fill them somewhere down the line.

“1.A. If you don't have water don't bother with the rest. 1.B. You'll need more water than you think. 1.C. Water is expensive in the quantities needed to keep a lawn green in the summer heat.”

“No it's not. As long as you follow the instructions (apply to wet lawn, water or rain it in within 24-48 hours) you can get great results. I thought it was a garbage product, too, until used it as intended.”
“The contractor will probably reseed it with whatever the cheapest possible contractor mix they could find unless you ask them not to. I'm still pulling goosegrass and foxtail from when they dug up my sewer 4 years ago.”
“How do you control goose? I treated my borders with dithorpyr preemergent at the right time for goose germination and still ended up with a lot on the borders. Maybe a second treatment would have helped. Goosegrass is nasty bc it makes a seed head super fast and I don't want it depositing seeds for next year.”

“That was a lot of work. I used Jeff Bezos' 2 in 1 machine to pick up all the dead grass. It worked out well but it took two passes to get most of it out. Do you guys think that is clean enough? I am renting aerator today and going to do that after work. Tomorrow, they are delivering 5 yards of organic screened top soil. I am planning on spreading it to get the dips and bumps evened out. “Here’s what I would do: 1) sometime this fall (maybe early october when soil temps cool down), mow at the lowest setting 2) get yourself a dethatcher/scarifier, I have a corded greenworks one, the sunjoe also works great 3) aerate (poke holes) to improve the soil 4) throw down some bags of top soil or compost to improve the soil, 5) throw down some seed (I personally like tall fescue because it grows when in sunlight/shade, durable, can thrive when water conditions are not the best). Gently use”
