“My 21 week old son used to breastfeed like a dream, but 2 months ago became really particular. He was reflux-y, distractible and became snacky instead of having full meals, so I’m currently feeding him an average of every 2 hrs. Even though it’s annoying, he’s been eating so it’s fine. He’s always been on the lighter side (30th percentile) but with me going back to work 2 weeks ago, my husband has been feeding him formula and I’ve been breastfeeding when I can. Now, he’s dipped down to 21st perc”

“I’m five foot two, starting weight 100 pounds. I’m at 13 weeks and have in fact lost two pounds. My doctor doesn’t seemed concerned and told me the baby is developing well. She also said not to worry about gaining enough weight. I’m just curious if other women my size gained minimal weight during their pregnancy and had healthy babies. I’m definitely not restricting myself or on any type of diet - if I’m hungry, I eat, but I’m also very active so not sure if this is contributing to the low weigh”

“Hi everyone. I’m a FTM to a lovely three-month-old daughter. I’ve been breastfeeding her and supplementing with expressed breast milk in a bottle. We’ve managed to get by so far, but I’m starting to worry that my breastfeeding journey might be coming to an end. She started out as a big baby (top 5%), but from the beginning, I’ve struggled with her getting frustrated at the breast, making clicking sounds, and swallowing air. I’ve also had mastitis four times. I discussed these issues with my heal”

“Be warned - this is gonna be a long one. My baby was born very quickly(just over 4 hrs) from the first contraction and only weighed about 6lbs at birth. On day 12 we realized she wasn't able to pull out sufficient milk from breastfeeding, she was latching wrong, and wasn't really opening her mouth that much. Midwife said everything looked right, like she was feeding, but we chose to bottle feed and because she hadn't been able to latch, I was only able to pump about 50% of her intake”

“Hi, any follow up stories on development for kids who were born with hypoglycemia? They caught it immediately after birth, and 6 days in the Nicu later he graduated. He’s a great feeder, and gaining more weight (was born 5 pounds 2 oz and he’s gained over a pound and a half in two week which is wonderful) but I am a little worried about his head circumference and long term outcomes. Anyone have any kids that were born with the same thing and how are they doing now? Thank you in advance for the s”

“My LO has literally just turned 6 months and is in the 25th centile We weighed her today at the doctor's and she's 6.3kgs Her centile says she should be around 6.7kg The doctor wasn't worried about her weight and said she's growing beautifully, she's quite long for her age and he said she's hitting her milestones and ready to introduce solids However my MiL thinks I should be waking her at least once in the night to feed and get some extra calories into her to get her wei”

“So this is my second baby and I foolishly thought I’d done this before so it would be easier. In some ways I guess it is but “every baby is different.” LO #2 lost >10% within 2 days and we went through the whole triple feed supplement journey again. I played around with feeding positions and ended up getting a better latch and transfer with football hold than cradle. I’ve been doing football ever since and LO #2 has been gaining well and seemingly improving milk transfer with shorter feeds an”

“Hello all great moms here! Long story short my daughter is 2 and a half months old, we had a rough start with our breastfeeding journey as she didn’t gain much weight at the beginning however last check she gained amazing weight! I've come here looking for some advice or maybe to see if anyone is going through something similar. :( For some context: Baby turned 6months on September 23rd 6months postpartum emergency C-section Exclusively breastfeeding for 6months I don't really have support other than my partner and even then it's limited because he works long days 5 days a week. “Hi! I have a 3 month old son, my second. My first was a 20%centile baby, and my second looked like that too! That’s fine with me. At his 2 month appointment it looks like he dropped percentiles from 23rd to 4th. Baby has had a runny nose so it was hard to feed but I was trying my best. Since that appointment, almost a month ago; I’ve been having so much anxiety about him getting enough. I saw an IBCLC and she said he has low oral tone and that’s why he isn’t taking a bottle. He’s only breastfed.”

“I've had a relatively straightforward feeding journey up to this point. However at the 3 month check the nurse was a little concerned that baby's weight seems to be plateauing a little. She's not super considered but going to have us come in again in a month to follow up. Aside from that baby suddenly developed tummy issues around 12 weeks. He's always spit up quite a lot but it suddenly seems to bother him and the volume has definitely increased. He often protests of he's pl”

“I always had a slacker boob, but since starting solids, my supply has dropped and the slacker boob has fully given up. One side makes only drops while the other side seems to be making enough for baby all on its own! Anyone else in a similar boat? Did you manage to keep breastfeeding with just one boob? Or did the supply on the other side drop too? I was hoping to breastfeed for at least a year, but am wondering if that’s unrealistic now. submitted by /u/Chrispr9 [link] [commen”

“FTM here. Baby girl was a preemie. She lost significant weight after being birth but luckily didn’t need to stay in the nicu. She is now 8 weeks old and has gained enough weight and is thriving. I have been breastfeeding exclusively for the last couple of weeks with a few bottle feeds at night from dad. “My baby (4.5 months old) was born 2 weeks overdue and is exclusively breastfed. He has dropped 2 percentile lines on his growth chart since birth. I’ve read that ebf babies slow in weight gain around 3-4 months old and theres also catch down growth due to him being born overdue. “Hi there, I have posted a few times about my 10-week old baby who is not gaining weight at the expected rate and who has been dropping centile every time we have a weight check. I switched pediatrician to get a second opinion and better support and now working with an IBCLC who is very nice and supportive, allowing to come in and check in with her every few days. “I didn’t introduce the pacifier until my baby was around 8 weeks. She was born 4lbs 8oz so I just wanted to focus on getting her to eat and gain weight. I think she was using my breast as a human pacifier so I wanted to try the pacifier so we could start to go into public without me having to whip out my boob all the time lol. He was 2.4kg at birth so is already low percentile but I’m starting to really worry as his weight gain plateaued ever since starting solids (he gained super well between 1 and 5 months). Our pediatrician ordered labs to look for possible diabetes, celiac disease, or thyroid issues. She’s been consistently in the 74-75%ile, today now 70th. Now, of note, she had what seemed like 6 voluminous #2 diapers yesterday. She is having plenty of wet/dirty diapers. “So proud of my body and my baby! He’s gained just shy of two pounds from his 2 week weigh to his one month appointment today. We had a rough start with low blood sugars and doing some formula to help his sugars stabilize while waiting for milk to come in and he was so sleepy due to that and jaundice. I’ve been to LC she said he doesn’t have any ties and that he is doing everything he should be doing but just can’t stay up and transfer efficiently. “I’m feeling pretty broken over this whole breastfeeding situation. Everything was going really well with breastfeeding until she was about 3 months old. Then she got an intestinal infection, and her weight gain basically stalled. After that, she was gaining only very slowly.
