Healthcare professionals are experiencing significant frustration and inefficiency due to the implementation and use of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and Electronic Health Records (EHRs). “I work in EMS, but handoff is much faster with Cerner. That being said, Worcester EMS, being part of UMass, is able to chart directly into Epic allowing them to pre-register pts during transport. Once they get to the hospital, whatever RN is taking report just needs to chart the handoff note.”
“It's funny because this was literally what I learned on as a new grad in 2017. This version of Meditech was supposedly better than the older DOS based one. All the hospitals in my area are on Epic now though.”
“I have not used Cerner. I don’t think it’s Epic-wide and more our hospital but they have Epic upgrades like twice a month and are constantly changing everything so it’s extremely frustrating and once we learn how to use certain functions, they’re changing it again. If they weren’t constantly doing that, it would definitely be more user friendly but it’s quite annoying honestly.”
“Yeah i last used that version in a rural hospital 15 yrs ago. This was a hospital in an area where there was spotty cell data and often you could only get phone or SMS.”
