“From my understanding, it’s pretty rare for plants of different genus to cross pollinate. Obviously there are more than likely exceptions. I think honeydew and cantaloupe may cross, but watermelons are in a different genus.”

“Hi! so I am in zone 6B and this is my first time gardening. I have a cayenne pepper plant and she is gorgeous and producing lots of fruit. None of them have turned red though. Some have even stopped growing (They have been the same size for weeks). My question is how long do they take to turn red after reaching full maturity? “Hey guys living in 10a here, got this peony as a bulb and it has been doing decent until recently, it is now getting crisp brown leaves and starting to die! I decided to move it to a new pot but is still doing bad. Unfortunately it is really hot so that might be the cause. I let the top inch or two dry out and then water. “I’m familiar with crepe myrtles in the SE USA. I was told in Pennsylvania that they “were an expensive annual” because they didn’t like the cold and should be planted in zone 7-9.. Down south we have to aggressively prune on a yearly basis. I’m guessing you’re near the coast with the milder weather. Without seeing pictures of the rest of the tree I would let this shoot continue to grow. CM are prolific growers once they get going.”

“Yeah that sounds like Nardello to me. Anaheims usually have a little bit of spice whereas Nardellos are just sweet. Both will eventually turn red. I think most green peppers do.”
“I bought this beautiful babe about a month ago & a couple weeks ago I found these dried pods I assumed were seeds. Gemini told me they weren’t seed pods & were just dried old flower remains (pic 3). It said the pods are supposed to be dark reddish purple & that’s how you know they’re matured and ready to harvest. “I have 3 green pepper plants and 2 habaneros. The habanero’s are in that first picture and the second picture is just a broader view of my setup. I planted these along with two tomatoes over a month ago. My green peppers seem to be growing well and taller but my habaneros have stayed pretty much the same height since I got them. “That stick on the right, if it is brittle is is dead. The shoots on the right could have come from the roots of the stick on the right. They could have also come from the left bush too. “Yeah I had a similar issue with the exact same setup. I started watering very heavily in the morning and then I check them in the evening when I get home and usually water them then (a little less heavily) because it's been so hot. Also I put mulch on top. Not sure if that's the optimal strategy or anything, but I started getting much better cucumbers after I started doing all of that.”
