When I dig around, there are these flat pancake like super hard mushrooms/fungus that the grass is growing on, with dirt underneath. “Is it kinda easy to pull out of the ground if you grab the base near the root? Thicker, firmer stems than your average weed? Looks like a variety of (maybe roadside) aster. Kill with 2,4-D. Edit: since you have st Augustine you might use Celsius instead. Google says you’ll kill your lawn with 2,4-D”
“Oh it’s definitely fungus. It’s not insects. I just assumed more detail(type of fungus might be nice), treatment for most of these are the same across the industry, a few variances. But T-methyl, headway G, ppz and I’m blanking on it, astrozibin**! Leaf spot is often caused by water sitting on leaf blades for a while. Common from daily rains keeping things wet or someone who starts watering their lawn too early and the water sits on leaf blades until the sun dries them. Goodluck”
“I’ve decided to overseed my lawn to handle some of the big empty patches, and as I’m paying more attention to it I’ve realized that there are these patches of something growing in it. The internet says something like this could be Dallisgrass or crabgrass but I am unclear how to tell things apart. Any ideas? “I don't know what the weed is. I had the same thing in my yard. Apparently they have bulbs underground that spread and make more. I used Segehammer. I suggest you get the package version. It needs a Segehammer needs a surfactant. The packet includes it. After my second spraying, it was gone. I just had a few touch ups. Unfortunately my neighbor doesn't care that if the stuff is in his yard. I'm expecting it to work it's way back into my yard.”

“While I don't actually know what it is, it doesn't look like bamboo to me. Bamboo has distinct hollow chambers and knuckles between each one where this looks like a solid stem plant. I think everyone is saying bamboo because the leaves look similar but the actual plant structure is incorrect for it to be bamboo”

“Just yesterday I noticed these spiderweb-looking spots in our lawn. We are in Illinois, about an hour outside of Chicago. There are several of them, both in shaded and sunny areas. Other posts have suggested that they would be mycelium if they disappear after the morning dew is gone, but I’m not certain if that’s the only way to tell. “It's doveweed. A late pre-emergent using indaziflam (specticle, rezilon or esplanade 200 sc) has been fairly effective for me. As far as a post treatment, I haven't found anything effective for it, I've used celcius, blindside, MSM turf, the kitchen sink, and really nothing seems to control it. I've even seen it in flower beds and used gly on it, and yeah, it seemed to be effective, but it came back.”
