“My 9yo (as of today!) and 2yo share a bedroom, because our house is small, and we can't afford a bigger house, and have done since about the start of the year (before that 2yo was in with me and my wife). 2yo often snores. Sometimes it's only quiet, but tonight he is really…”
“Happily married in our new house since mid this year with a 5 and 6 year old. Now both myself and the wife are trying for a third… the existing kids (a boy and girl) will have to share a room so the box room can be for a nursery, then eventually the double room will be for which…”
“We have two girls under 10 that are 2 years and 13 days apart. We have the space to give them separate rooms. Is there any evidence one way or another that gives insight into the pros and cons to this?”
Multiple parents express stress related to complex family living situations, including children from previous relationships and shared custody arrangements. One parent describes a three-bedroom house housing five children across two families.

“Need advice on how to help child adjust with my partner I moved out of my child's (4) father's house when she was 2 and it was just her and I in an apartment in the same neighborhood for about a year. Child's father promised he would pay half my rent then after a month he quit his job so he didn't have to pay. I started dating someone new who is absolutely wonderful with my child. He is patient, kind, caring, goofy, and silly and up until recently they had a great relationship an”
“Not sure if this is the right place for this but worth a shot. Really im after some advice from some other parents. I am a co‑parent to two boys: my eldest (Child 1), aged 14, who lives with me, and my younger son (Child 2), aged 2, who lives with his other parent. My daily routine is fixed around my eldest’s school commitments — I am responsible for dropping him off and collecting him each day, with no alternative transport available. This means I am only able to spend time with my younger son”
“i have a 3 year old, baby and a husband who LOVES to snack. i have a white couch but after 4 years, many stains and multiple holes, the covers have lived their lives and it’s time to replace with them, i was thinking with these (specifically the off white scratch and spill resistant): https://lindakale.com/products/harlanda-sleeper-sofa-cover?\_pos=4&\_sid=61936d2be&\_ss=r&variant=31982255702099 yes i know a white couch is probably stupid. BUT i love the look of one, and a dark color”
“I just want to know if I'm alone here or not. My in laws have a 3 bedroom house. The only room in their house with an actual bed is theirs. One room is an office. The final one has a pull out couch. Other than some cheap Amazon air mattresses (a brand new one literally popped at 3 am on our last stay), that's it. Nowhere else to sleep. And, my husband has 4 siblings, 3 of whom have kids. And my in laws want us to visit altogether for holidays and long weekends, but they SPECIFICALLY want”
“We live in a smallish apartment and have since our oldest (8M) was born, we hoped to move into something bigger by now but unfortunately that hasn’t happened, that being said it’s really getting to be the time that our youngest (3M) is out of our room and gets more comfortable in his own space. I’ve brought up the possibility of sharing a room since I was pregnant with my oldest and he was always keen on the idea, however now the reality of having a little brother has hit and they do spend quite”
“I have two boys 3m and 3y. My first still requires one of us to sleep next to him until he falls asleep. He has moved himself into the spare bedroom with a nice double bed which is fine as when my youngest is over 6m he will move into the smaller bedroom and this room swap was going to happen. It got me thinking though if I should have the two boys room share the bigger room when my youngest is a bit older and make the smaller room their play room as we only have one big living room downstairs t”
“My 9yo (as of today!) and 2yo share a bedroom, because our house is small, and we can't afford a bigger house, and have done since about the start of the year (before that 2yo was in with me and my wife). 2yo often snores. Sometimes it's only quiet, but tonight he is really shaking the walls. It's likely mostly because he has very large tonsils, and we have spoken to an ENT surgeon about it, who recommended removal, but likely not for another year or 2 yet because doing the procedure”
“When we got married, I said I wanted four kids. We have three (6, 4, 2) and to be honest, three is kicking my butt. Still, my wife is wanting a fourth. For those parents who have four kids, how did you decide to continue growing your family? Did you feel like you had it all together at three and could keep going? Did you already feel overwhelmed and figured what’s one more? Major changes moving from three kids to four? submitted by /u/Grouchy-Patience5652 [link] [comments]”
“I’m looking at the families of greater than 2 kids. We are 7.5 months postpartum from my first and I am bit with the baby bug. I went from thinking we were one and done to considering 3. We went into birth having aggressively saved for 9 months and being in a comfortable position. After some unexpected twists and turns associated with birth we are left paying some medical bills for the next couple of years. I am the majority bread winner in the household and currently working part time (necessar”
“I have a 17mo and a 5.5wo. I am 31f, have been with my husband for 13 years. Having kids was something I always wanted, my husband, not so much. We planned our first but the second was a surprise. I mourned my old life when my first was born and I don’t feel like I got the hang of motherhood until she was maybe a year old (by this time I was pregnant again 🥴). I still had my reservations and missed my freedom, but I could at least enjoy her. Now baby 2 is here and he has been 20x more difficult”
“Hi! I‘m a mom to two kids, 18m and 16f. My kids have grown up almost entirely living in apartments in urban areas. We did live in houses when my husband was in the military, but they were very young then so I don’t think they even remember it. I occasionally get some flack from family members about living in apartments instead of moving somewhere we could get a house, but honestly my kids have always seemed perfectly happy with our living situation. I was just kind of curious what impact it has”
“Ignore all the relationship stuff for now, and let’s say I wanted to own or renovate a home with the shared spaces of a kitchen, living room, kids bedroom/bathroom, even an office, but with 2 separate bedrooms and private entrances and bathrooms? Maybe a kitchenette in each but it’s not necessary. What would be the most cost effective AND quickest way? Find a home with a layout that can be easily converted/renovated (add an outside door, bathroom if needed, ect)- I like this idea the most. Find”
“Hi everyone. For a little content, I live in a three bedroom house with my 3 children. 14f, 11m and 17 month old m. My older two are from a previous relationship and my youngest son is with my current partner. My older two currently have their own bedrooms and my youngest has his cot bed in my room. My partner currently lives separately in a 2 bedroom apartment. He also has a 11 year old daughter from a previous relationship who has her own bedroom there. She stays with him 2 nights a week. The”
“At this point, I’m torturing myself(and my wife) over the decision to have one last baby. My wife at I have 4 kids(2 that she brought to the relationship and 2 we have had together). Our two oldest or 15 & 17 and our littles are 3.5 and, of course, our JB. When we married, we said we would have definitely 2, maybe 3 more kiddos together. Now the time has come to decide on that “maybe 3”. At the risk of sounding pretentious, our life is perfect. Our finances are comfortable and have recently”
