“My 6 month old has learned so many new skills this month, including how to roll from back to belly. He discovered he can now sleep on his tummy. I always put him down on his back, but throughout the night I’ll see he ends…”
“Our 6 month old started daycare right when she learned to roll both ways and so she got into the habit there of rolling onto her stomach to sleep. But she still mostly sleeps on her back at home, and now does not seem to sleep as deeply or well as she once did on her back. Whenever she manages to get herself on her stomach at home she does great stretches of sleep or sometimes sleeps through the night. I know we have to keep putting her on her back to sleep, but any tips to help her make the con”
“Hey all, I hope you’re all having a great weekend. My wife and I welcomed our first child 5 months ago. He is the love of our lives. He had so much trouble sleeping in the crib until now, and he’s finally giving us 2-3 hour stretches at a time more consistently. This is because for the past month, he’s been rolling back to belly, and does this every night, all night. Our pediatrician said it’s totally fine to leave him there, since he gets there himself and we put him on his back first always. H”
“I’m terrified about the transition to the crib. Baby is not outgrown his bassinet so we need to do it. He sleeps so well right now I’m afraid to change anything. More than that I’m worried about how I transfer him to the crib. Currently the bassinet is higher than the crib and our routine is he falls asleep then I’m able to gently lay him in the bassinet without waking him. I don’t think I can put him down as gracefully in the crib and I’m worried I’ll accidentally wake him on transfer and then”
“We have a snoo that was loaned to us as a bassinet. My baby can roll over and get his arms out of snoo sack so we started to use it with his arms out just like a sleep sack. This is when everything went downhill. He has always slept through the night and been a great sleeper. Now without his straight jacket (what we lovingly call the snoo swaddle) he’s a nightmare. If he is not next to me he screams and screams. He wants to suddenly only sleep next to me. I have tried the snoo sack with his arms”
“After 9 months of soothing my baby back to sleep my boy finally did it himself! I put him in his crib after nursing him to sleep and snuck out successfully. Then the upstairs neighbor dropped a couple bowling balls and that startled him. He grabbed his binkie, popped it back in then rolled over and fell back asleep. I’m so happy for my baby but sad at the same time, thinking he may not need me for this anymore. submitted by /u/Mykneerreallyhurts [link] [comments]”

“Ok so up until a few days ago, my 5 month old son was a great sleeper. He would fall asleep around 11pm, and would wake around 9am. Wake ups during the night were rare. All of a sudden, he is not sleeping through the night. Some things that have changed recently are: moving his from bassinet to crib (still in our bedroom), started purées, started rolling constantly, and possibly teething. “Seriously how are you getting your babies to sleep unswaddle?! My baby is 12 weeks old and it came to my attention I should have unswaddle her by week 8. She’s not rolling yet but I decided to do it to be safe. It’s not just the startled reflex. She literally scratches her face and wakes up. I’m putting mittens on her and she still does it and then starts crying and yelling. She’s been having eczema on and off but particularly on her eyes. I’m doing creams and milk baths which have helped a lot.”
“This is driving me nuts. Here I am bouncing at this fuckin exercise ball and when she finally closes her eyes and is about to fall asleep she suddenly squishes herself awake. She slowly squishes like a worm. It's not reflex, she is swaddled. I keep stroking her forehead and eyebrows so she keeps her eyes closed and stay asleep, but I can't keep doing this for an hour every nap. It is driving us crazy because making her nap is a marathon and the nap lasts 5 minutes tops. Sometimes we get”
“Our 3 month old LO only falls asleep when we swaddle him. He recently discovered his hands so all he wants yo do now is to try to put his whole fist in his mouth 😂. He just keeps doing this when we try to make him sleep, unless we swaddle him. Does swaddling cause any developmental issues as it is preventing him from putting hand in mouth ? When did you guys stop swaddling ? submitted by /u/Character-Grass-5378 [link] [comments]”
“My baby is 6mo old and the daycare he goes to does their own laundry (so I drop off a sleep sack and it stays at daycare until he goes up a size). He likes to grab the neck of his sleep sacks and suck on it to self soothe at nap times, so at home we wash the sleep sacks every other day or so. I just got his previous sleepsack back from daycare (sized him up), and noticed that the neck is moldy where he sucks on it. I am so upset to see this....they are not washing this nearly enough or hanging i”
“Okay I’m not against cosleeping, I did it back and forth with my first (now 19m in his own room and floor bed) and I tried having our new baby (3m now) in the playpen from the start when he got home but I was getting no sleep at all so I gave in and finally got some rest but as much as I don’t mind cosleeping, I do want my bed back but this little nugget will not stay down by himself, can I have any advice or tips? I tried the heating pad beforehand with no luck, he’s fine for maybe ten minutes”
“Our LO is 5 months old and will be needing a cranial helmet due to severe brachycephaly (flat head). I heard from other parents whose babies needed them that it can make them sweat a lot at night. He currently sleeps in a zipadee zip sleep sack and usually only wakes once or twice at night. He runs hot as it is, and sometimes sweats at night, so we have AC and fan going all night but we will probably need to get rid of the sleep sack too. We have 1 1/2 weeks before he gets fitted for this helmet”
“I’m sitting here trying to put my 5 month old back to sleep , I don’t know what it is but the past week and a half have honestly been horrible with her sleep We unswaddled her last week and tried to put her in her crib alone but both of these changes have thrown her sleep out the window. We put her back in the room with us yesterday and she is still waking up over 5 times a night .. I don’t even know what is happening here She drops the pacifier and starts crying , has gas as well and starts cry”
“Hi, my baby just turned 6 months and he is being fussy when it comes to naps. He sleeps well for naps when tightly swaddled (we use sleep sacks with arms out for all naps/nighttime sleep) but he goes out super fast when feels tightness around him). Are there sleep sacks that offer that tight feeling without swaddling? submitted by /u/lp21311 [link] [comments]”
“My husband and I are losing our grip on reality with our 9 month olds sleep patterns. She slept fine for the most part in her own bassinet or crib until recently. With 2-3 wake ups overnight it was mostly doable between the two of us. Lately though she's been refusing to sleep unless in bed with us or held while we sleep in the recliner. Neither of which are making my anxiety happy. I finally got her down tonight with minimal effort by putting a long heating pad in the center of her crib and”
“So its currently 12:10am, and after falling asleep at 9am, our little 7 week old rolled over in a Love to Dream swaddle, whacked herself in the face, and woke herself up. This was her first night in a LTD; normally shes in an ergopouch as she finds having her arms pinned comforting. Only problem is, she's currently just over 3.75kg, and had almost outgrown the 0000 ergopouch, but when we put her in a 000 one the other night, we noticed that she woke up twisted. We were really thankful that n”
“My son is 5 months old, for the past month he’s been waking up more often at night, likely due to gas and teething. When he’s been impossible to get back to sleep I’ve brought him into my bed where he feeds to sleep and while he’s asleep. The last couple of nights he’s rolled onto his front and attempts to drag himself from his sidecar bed into my bed ( he’s not yet crawling but working hard towards it) while shouting in frustration that he can’t do it. I try to settle him for a few hours then g”
“Five month old used to do swaddled, supervised naps in a boppy cushion (yes, not safe sleep I know but we were desperate and sleep-deprived). We are transitioning now to unsupervised naps in the crib in a sleep sack since he’s now rolling back to tummy. I’ve noticed that when he’s “sleeping” on his back, he will startle and open his eyes literally every 5-7 seconds. Then close his eyes and go back to sleep. And this literally continues for the whole duration of the nap (25-30 mins). He doesn’t d”
“Our 4 month old is confusing us with his wakes, wondering if anyone has any insight. In the last few nights we’ve been working on unswaddling him and encouraging him to fall asleep awake in the bed. Mixed success in getting him to do so, but at least for the first stretch it has worked - and almost every wake last night. The problem is that it doesn’t seem to actually extend how long he’s asleep. He’s always been a low needs sleeper, but has reliably had a first sleep of 4 or so hours, then ofte”
“So my little baby is about 3.5 months old. They used to be a phenomenal sleeper (4-8 hour stretches at night), but over the last months we have had to mive baby out of swaddles since they started rolling over and breaking out of swaddles. Baby also hit the 4 month sleep regression, so I'm lucky to get a 3 hour stretch in. Because of all of this, we have kept my baby in the bassinet. They don't really move unless they are awake and crying, so I don't see an issue with keeping them in”
“Looking for a sleep sack recommendation for my 7 month old. So many of the ones I’ve ordered have massive neck holes and they make me nervous it’ll cover his mouth. We use to do Love to Dream transition swaddles with arms out, but we need a long term option. Also, I really only like cotton or wool! submitted by /u/MixtureMelodic2965 [link] [comments]”
“Help 😭 My 4-month-old just learned to roll onto his tummy and now he does it CONSTANTLY — including at night. He used to be swaddled and would fall asleep nursing, then I could easily transfer him to his crib. Obviously I stopped swaddling him once he started rolling, but now I literally cannot get him into his crib. He falls asleep nursing, but the second I put him down, he arches his back, rolls onto his tummy, wakes himself up and starts crying. So I pick him up, nurse him back to sleep… and”
“I need help getting my 5 week old back into her bassinet. She started refusing it around 2 weeks, so I’ve been co-sleeping with her. I’ve tried rocking, warming the bassinet, white noise, sleep sacks, and putting her down slowly, but nothing works. When I put my 5-week-old down in her bassinet, she immediately starts squirming and crying like she’s in pain… but when I put her on my bed she’s fine..??? How does it make sense I’m really anxious and really want her sleeping in her own space agai”
“I’m so fucking tired, my son is 4 months and every single time he rolls onto his front he wakes up, he’s waking up every hour and a half at the moment and I don’t know what to do. Every time he wakes I have to feed him because he’s breastfed and I can barely keep my eyes open. How long will this last? He was completely fine with rolling onto his front before when he was asleep and he’s suddenly started doing it. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Could transferring to his cot work? ”
“Every night it’s the same story: - Full feed, burping and gas stretches - Dim lights - Skin to skin cuddles - Fresh diaper - Warm sleep sack - Rocked to sleep in my arms - Gently laid into bassinet feet first, then head - Hand on her chest until I see her deep asleep 5 minutes later she’s screaming and will only calm down on my wife’s chest She’s not too much into pacifiers. White noise doesn’t seem to help much. Any tips from other dads? I know each baby is different, but really looking for new”
“My baby is coming up on 2 months. For the past couple of weeks sleep has been very rough. I start his bedtime routine around 8:30-9. We do a bath every other night followed by a feeding and swaddle in a dark room with the sound machine. He will fall asleep for maybe 10 mins and then fuss. This goes on till 3am. Sometimes I can’t even soothe him, he just cries. I am feeling very much defeated and don’t know what to do. When I do eventually get him to sleep he will sleep for 4-5 hours which is so”
“yall. I’m nervous everynight now. My daughter has learned to sit herself up from her belly. Well now she keeps sleeping that way and she uses the bottom of her sleep sack to soothe herself. I do see her head turned to the side, but worried cause the bottom of her sleep sack is under her head😭 any advice. I’m scared to move her and wake her submitted by /u/Competitive_Photo690 [link] [comments]”
“I have not gotten 4 hrs of uninterrupted sleep since he was born. I get about 5-6hrs a night. The longest stretch is 2hrs but it's usually every hour I wake up. We are semi cosleeping, Im joining him in a floor bed for nursing and end up falling asleep with him but I do start off in my own bed. He's 4.5months old now and I do nights alone in the babys nursery with my husband back in our bedroom. I did our 4 month check up and the pediatrician seemed to pity me. I'm not too bothered b”
“Hey guys! We have a one month old who sleeps better arms up however his arms will still move around a lot which tends to keep him awake longer before he falls asleep then he gets upset, so my ask is this: do they make an arms up that is thicker or stronger so he can’t easily move his arms around while in arms up? We have the dream swaddles and another but they’re so thin that he can easily bend out of arms up. Thank you! submitted by /u/thekeeper08 [link] [comments]”
“Our 1M old son is only able to sleep peacefully when tightly wrapped in the stretchy wrap baby carrier and attached to us. Overnight he usually needs to be put in a swaddle, and even then he many times needs someone to gently caress him or at least hold a hand on them. As soon as the hand goes away, he seems to go in this very light and agitated sleep that eventually results in him waking up. Are there ways to help him sleep better? Certain routines or ways to get him comfortable? Also, is all t”
“Our 3.5 month old used to give us a five hour stretch and then would be up every hour or two when she was swaddled. Now she has been rolling from back to belly so we have transitioned her to a sleep sack cold turkey. We rock to sleep and then place her down after holding for 20 minutes when she is asleep. The last night or two we have had success in putting her down but she wakes up after about 20 to 30 minutes. By the time it is midnight, we just end up holding her to sleep because she ends up”
“Hi, I love my son so much. He started rolling Ahhh but now I can’t swaddle him at night. The thing is, he LOVES being swaddled and without his swaddle, he rubs his face a lot and is generally unsettled (he gets itchy, yes we have been to the doctor) I am at my wits end sleeping ~3/4 am every night because he doesn’t settle unless he is swaddled. I tried doing a one arm swaddle but that didn’t work. Now I’ve gone cold turkey so he sleeps with a light sleep sack with no swaddle at all. I play whit”
“I (23F) have a 11 day old newborn. I also have crippling anxiety regarding sids and have always been big on following safe sleep, and my two other kids did great, they are independent sleepers now and always slept on their back alone in their bassinet with nothing else but a swaddle. My newest addition HATES the bassinet. She doesn’t seem to care for the swaddle. She won’t take a paci for longer than 5 minutes. As soon as i lay her down she’s grunting and whining and the longest i’ve gotten her”
“FTM to 4.5 month old. For context, our bedtime routine for our son is feed-bath-diaper change-lotion-pjs and sleep sack-books- sound machine and lights off. Over the past two or three weeks, my son starts to cry as soon as we get back into his bedroom after his bath and start changing with diaper. He cries on and off from after his bath essentially until he falls asleep. It almost seems like he realizes sleeping time is coming and is protesting? We started sleep training a week ago and he’s doin”
“I was just getting my mental health back. My daughter gave me 5+ hours of uninterrupted sleep each night for 2 weeks straight, most likely 6 but up to 8 hours. Then she fell from her belly and rolled onto her back twice. Accident! On purpose? Who knows. I stopped swaddling, and man, the feeling of going from 8 to 2 hours in the first stretch is devastating. I feel like I won a million dollars in the lottery, and the wind took my ticket away for good, and I will always think about what might have”
“Our little guy is finally in his own crib (hurray!), but he keeps peeing out the top every night because he enjoying rolling to his side, his belly, doing some tummy time, and finally falling asleep in a way my husband calls "CSI Miami" (i.e., like a crime scene chalk drawing). Every morning, we find a puddle of pee through his onesie and on the crib sheet. He's 16 lbs and we've been using size 2 Pampers swaddlers, securely fastening them, high waisted, but the little wiggle wo”
“My 11 month old has been going through intense separation anxiety and it’s gotten really bad at night and I’m losing it with lack of sleep. I got her a small lovey - it’s a Mary Meyer plush if it matters. I’m wondering what the risks of letting her sleep with it at 11 months are. She is very mobile and crawls/sits/stands in her crib. She sleeps on her belly most nights so would there be a risk of her nuzzling into it and suffocating? Loveys are “allowed” at 12 months but of course that number is”
“Does anyone have any suggestions here? I don't want to get anything potentially dangerous but I feel like this could honestly change everything for us because this is our third child and holy hell is sleep a game changer! submitted by /u/IdoScienceSometimes [link] [comments]”
“my baby is 7 weeks old and the last three nights in a row i’ve woken to her fussing and when i look in her bassinet, she’s managed to get herself completely diagonal so her head and feet are in the mesh sides and she’s (reasonably) annoyed by this. if i pick her up and settle her and put her back, she stays in the middle. is there any safety concern here im missing with her being swaddled? she is not close to rolling over. thank you! submitted by /u/Open-Committee3540 [link] [c”
“My LO has started to roll into their side and belly when falling asleep. I know that the best practice is to roll them onto their backs, but then we're all awake and crying together from exhaustion. We have them swaddled with one arm out, and we are working on moving to both arms out. Any advice or thoughts? Is it okay to just leave it and let the kid sleep? submitted by /u/chellumvellum [link] [comments]”
“Since month 6 we’ve been experiencing a pretty good regression in sleep skills. Here’s our history: - 2-4 months: sleeping through the night - 4-6 months: some night wakings and difficulty transferring to sleep space. Cosleeping when unable to transfer - 6 months: transition to crib/own room. - 6-8 months: waking upon transfer to crib. If successful transfer, only sleeping 0.5-2hrs in crib. Waking 5-9 times per night. Longest stretch is not longer than 3hrs and ONLY happens if we’re cosleeping.”
“FTM to a 6 week old. Has refused to sleep in his bassinet or crib or pack n play despite many attempts over the last month and a half, for daytime naps and nighttime sleep. We’ve done everything… preheat the mattress, white noise, blackout curtains, swaddle, shusher, waiting until he’s in a deep sleep, adjusting the temperature/his layers. Nothing works. He doesn’t even last 5 minutes before he’s awake. I feel like every solution people have is to cosleep following safe sleep 7. I’ve tried that”
“i know that it’s fine if they roll there themselves however, she’s not rolling to that position herself she’ll just fuss on her back until i adjust her. during the day she’s rolling all around but at night in her bassinet she’s not. should i move her back to her back after she’s really out, or should i just leave her? i’m terrified of SIDS and i’m not sure what to do submitted by /u/Efficient-Stock-2521 [link] [comments]”
“Need help with lots of stuff. FTM with a 4 month old. Sorry for the long post, just trying to provide all the info. He’s been a crummy sleeper for a while. Once he got out of the swaddle and into the sleep sack and crib he started sleeping in 30-90minute intervals (around 10wks old). We were doing contact naps with bouncing/rocking or nursing to nap. So then what I believe is sleep regression started about 2wks ago. Fussier, fighting naps. So when it used to take 5-15 minutes for him to fall asl”
“My 4.5 month old has been co-sleeping with us pretty much from the beginning. We had him in a Moses basket which he outgrew super fast and since I've been BF him lying down, we just began sleeping that way, even for naps. I have a strong letdown so we switched to side lying so he wasn't being waterboarded, lol. It's also heartbreakingly adorable how he plasters himself against me while sleeping. I have to go back to work in a couple months and won't be able to lie here with him w”
“Parents who had babies that would literally never sleep unless being held— need some hope as a mom of 11 week old who screams if we put him down but sleeps long stretches if held. When was your baby able to sleep alone or let you put them down? PS- we have tried it all. Swaddles, snoo, every possible transfer technique, heating pad, breastmilk pads, my scent/item of clothing, multiple bassinets, attempts to bed share. He screams if not in our arms. submitted by /u/lovetoteach22 [link”

I’ve been running on less than 4 hours of sleep a day and that’s only because my mom is staying with us to help. We’ve tried different kinds of swaddles, soothing until he falls asleep, pacifier. “My 11 month old has always room shared/bed shared with me. His current set up is a Montessori style floor bed. I have a tatami floor mattress right beside so we room share still. If he wakes up and needs me I’m right there to nurse back to sleep. If he’s having a particularly hard night I just stay in bed with him , but usually we wake up 2 times a night. I personally am not bothered by this set up, I like the closeness and being right there I can usually fall right back to sleep. I sadly haven’”
“I have a 2 month old basically velcro baby. He slept in his bassinet in the first 3 weeks, although even then he liked to be held a lot, but we were able to get 3-4 hours stretches. Since then it started to go downhill. We suspect its also because of gas. If he doesnt wake up as soon as we put him down, or we're able to get him back to sleep, its very rare that he sleeps for longer than 1 hour. He also doesn't take a pacifier. He also cries in his stroller so its hard to get him out of t”
“I played rough with my daughter (9mo) one night before bed, and she went to sleep instantly! Since then I’ve been doing it every night, and sleep is as easy as zipping her sleep sack and putting her down in the crib. She sucks on the sleep sack for a moment then falls asleep. Not a single tear has been shed at bedtime in the week I’ve been doing this! And the giggles are the best. A quick google tells me that this is a widely known thing that helps kids blow off steam. Examples of playing rough:”
“Since about 6 weeks old, my baby will sleep well and sleep thru the night. Once I get him asleep, he stays asleep, even after transfer, for about 7-9 hour stretch’s and 2 hour naps thru the day. Lately he has not been napping more than 20 mins, and unless he’s swaddled, he cannot stay asleep. But he can’t be swaddled because he can roll now. “Our almost 6mo is rolling and moving a lot in sleep. She likes sleeping with her arms out BUT has trouble falling asleep without being traditionally swaddled. She’s waking more in her family-made bassinet, which tilts when she moves. Last night, we just did the Keababies soothe swaddle wrap with arms out and started in our pack & play. Idk if this was too many new factors but it was ROUGH. She woke up at 1:15, we fed her but she didn’t settle for a long time and we eventually got her bassine”
“So - I have posted on this forum many times for tips to get my baby to sleep. She was having 6+ hour wake windows in the evenings because she would just refuse sleep. I tried everything. The other night I experimented swaddling with her arms in - I’m aware of the safety issues. I realised her Moro reflex is so strong. But ever since I started doing the swaddle, she’s asleep within minutes. It saved us. She slept through the night and has done so every night since I’ve been swaddling. Her daytime”

“New mom here, baby is one week old! I need advice- I’ve noticed my son likes to be held to sleep, but it has to be deep sleep. He also will not sleep if he’s not swaddled especially if he’s laying flat down and not on us. It goes like this - He wakes up, needs either diaper change or feed. I’ll change his diaper & unswaddle him. Then - i feed him, burp him- swaddle him again & then finish feeding him until he’s in deep sleep. If he’s not in deep sleep and swaddled, he will refuse the bas”
“My baby is 10 weeks old, as of 2-3 weeks we don't swaddle him anymore as he started rolling to his side and we thought it may be too dangerous to continue swaddling him. Since then, getting him to sleep has been getting worse and worse. We were told by a sleep consultant to put him in his bassinet awake and try to get him to sleep there. Offer cribside assistance and if he gets too fussy and crying a lot, pick up and then put down. The first few nights were so bad, he cried for over an hour.”
