“My cat is 16 years old. He has always had feline herpes, which made his eyes inflamed and bleeding for years. Recently he got diagnosed with skin cancer on his ears, which has spread to his eyes. His paws are constantly covered in blood from wiping his eyes. He is constantly sniffling, scratching, and biting himself. I've tried to care for him the best that I could. We've had him on several medications and treatments for both his feline herpes and the cancer, but nothing works. We've”

“This is my first post and I am really needing advice. My ESA is a six year old male cat I have had since four weeks old. He has had a reoccurring abscess on his left paw that has traveled up to his lymph node on his neck that is not healing since 8/18. He has been cultured, radiographed, and sedated and flushed at least six times by now. He has been on immunosuppressants for a few years now (Atopica and Prednisolone) for IBD. At this point the four little initial puncture wounds have turned into”

“my dog has been unwell for the last week, we took her to the vet a few days ago and they just informed us that she has aggressive acute leukemia. we are putting her down next week. i know nothing can be done but everything feels so wrong. she’s only eight years old and even though she’s been limping and lethargic, the medication they gave her to hold her through the next few days has her acting like her old, happy, playful self. it feels so wrong to see her like this knowing she’s being put down”

“Mixed breed, 8 years 5 months. Spayed Female, She currently has a wound on her left front paw, it seems as though her paw pad was torn off. I have douxo s3 wipes from before that I have been using to clean/wipe down her paw once inside. I’ve attempted to put some bag balm and a wrap over it but she always finds a way to get the wrap off. I’ve started to notice that her breathing at night has become quicker, I was thinking maybe pain/discomfort from the paw but she otherwise seems fine. I’m heavi”

“I have a almost 6 month old kitten I adopted in May, we are really good about picking/cleaning up but somehow he got ahold of some type of fabric & it’s stuck in his GI track. We took him to our Vet; they did x-rays, enema, all the things and iv therapy which all equaled up to about 1500 within itself. (Money we simply don’t have and didn’t plan for, please don’t say anything mean- this was an accident and I don’t think anyone could’ve planned for this) The vet gave us an option to take him”

“My cat (female 12y/o) has got a big tumor on her leg, and we have talked with vet but they said that it's so large, there's nothing they can do to remove it, so our only option is to put her down. They are quite busy and told us they can only do that on Friday. Today is Wednesday. The spot gets more dark and spotted and red and purple each day, and I don't know if that's serious and if we should put her down earlier? She twitches sometimes, and I don't know if she's in lo”

“My cat has given herself this wound in just the last few hours, its very raw and possibly bloody but I dont think its bleeding anymore. she has a history of this and has been to the vet last month who gave us medication for stress, a cone and ointment but this one looks really bad to me. usually when she gets these shes not too uncomfortable (besides the cone) but i think with the wound placement and where the cone sits she might be in pain? shes very fussy being held so shes very mad at me for”

“My 13 year old cat (Arya) has been diagnosed with "most likely cancer" and "most likely heart disease," and I'm not sure what to do for him. Over the past year, he has gone from 15 lbs to just under 11 lbs. Recently, he was hardly eating anything and had no energy. 07/14/26: Vet (not his usual one) examined him and felt a mass that was painful. X-rays showed fluid build up in his abdomin and one kidney being very large compared to the other. They think there's a mass”

“Hello vets! firstly I appreciate your time & any advice you have. I have a 12 year old Border Collie named Ivy. She weighs 15kg and is currently on Previcox 90mg and Gabapentin 300mg for arthritis in her hind quarters. 2 weeks ago I noticed she’s been aggressively chewing on her left hind foot, completely chewed 2 nails off and made a right mess of it. Off to the vets we went and the vet determined it was most likely due to nerve pain as there’s no sign of any allergies or foreign bodies so”

“Hello all! I have an Aussie German shepherd mix and recently on a strenuous hike, he tore both of his front paw pads. That was on Sunday evening and since then, I’ve done the following: Immediately sprayed a microbial pet safe spray. Washed both paws with an antibacterial soap. Soaked his paws in warm water with sea salt. Wrapped his feet in a non stick “gauze” with Neosporin and removed when he is resting. Replaced every single time I take him out, both gauze and bandaging. This is today, rough”

“I moved in at the end of March into a house, where the owner has two cats. She did not tell me her cat had leukemia. Well within the last 2 weeks my cat was sleeping more, not playing, losing appetite, and as of Saturday refusing to eat. I rushed her to the vet yesterday (she's 13 and very particular so I wanted to take her to a vet that knew her and is very gentle with her). I was given the devastating news that she tested positive for leukemia. They recommended euthanasia as she won't”

“My kitty is 3 years old. I’ve had her since kittenhood. She has always been crusty/sniffly/sneezy/coughy to varying degrees. Over the past year it has increased in severity and flares have gotten longer. For the past few months specifically she has been on and off steroids as directed by my vet and a while ago was given a course of antibiotics for a secondary bacterial infection as a result of the flareup, to no avail. It came right back, and I’m starting to think that the steroids actually made”

“Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some veterinary insight because I’m very anxious about my cat. My cat pants for a few seconds after playing. What worries me is that it doesn’t take much intense play for it to happen. After he stops, the panting lasts only a few seconds and then he’s completely back to normal. Otherwise, he’s acting perfectly healthy. He eats normally, drinks, uses the litter box, and is active and playful. He has no coughing, open-mouth breathing at rest, or any signs of respirat”

“Hi all, this may be a dumb question but I’m paranoid when it comes to my dog. A 6-month supply of Nexgard Plus from Chewy was delivered to our house and we brought it inside about an hour later. We took them out of the delivery box about 4 days after that. There’s been a heat advisory with the temperatures in the 90s, so I’m concerned that the medication may have degraded and isn’t as effective anymore. Our porch is slightly shaded, so it may be okay. The shape of the tablet I opened is a little”

“Basically, my cat Tito lately has been sneezing a bit and shaking his head almost like it itches? I don’t really know how to describe it. He doesn’t act like he’s in pain, but he does itch his face a bit, and now his eyes started looking like this. I know I probably need to go to a vet, but I just wanted to see if there was any other advice or even if anyone had any idea what it might be? I don’t want to assume the worst, just possibilities. Thank you. Photo link below. [Tito’s eyes](file:///var”

“You can see the three pictures in my last post. If this is a parasite, then I have to get my birds to the vet. I found this thing under my bird cage. It was 1-2 cm long and it moved. Till now i onlv found one. I also found little 1-2mm long brown bugs under the cage around 4 weeks ago. I tried to kill them all but they are back. The frame and the floor of the birdcage is out of wood ( I do want a better bird cage). I sadly already tried to kill it and then put it in the trash outside, so I can&#”

“At what point would the decision to euthanize need to be discussed? My girl is a 14 year old Westie Mix. She was diagnosed with dementia last year. She is our only dog now. We had a black lab that she grew up with for 12 years but she passed 2 years ago from cancer. I’m just wondering what warrants the need for euthanasia with Dementia. submitted by /u/MrsB_buzz [link] [comments]”

“moving to a new environment will not cure FeLV but lower stress may help her have better quality of life for a period, it's not wrong to see how she does as an only cat and put off the euthanasia (side note, there are also euthanasia services that can come to your home short notice in many locations) false positives are not totally uncommon in FeLV testing, and i always think it's a good idea to test at least twice, 30-60 days apart, before making any permanent decisions, unless the cat”

“Thank you! I’ve been trying to keep them bandaged only when he needs to walk and letting them just breathe when not walking him. It seems like he still has some irritation between his paw pads, but looks to be doing better overall (at least in the sense they seem to be returning to that familiar paw I’m used to seeing). Yesterday was pure couch potato and much more limping, but he seems much happier today. Never had it happen before in the six years I’ve had him and it was even on the same hike”

“Happened to my own dog after scrambling on rocks (poor man tore nearly every pad on all four paws). I took him to work and had the worst paw bandaged but took it off after 24 hours and just left the paw pads to dry out and heal. The most important thing is to make sure your dog is wearing a cone 24/7 to prevent them from licking their paws; once they start healing, they get very itchy. My dog was on pain meds and antibiotics; if you didn't get antibiotics, cleaning them (without a bandage) w”
