Side project developers dislike messy, disorganized online forums
Developers express frustration with the quality of content and organization on existing platforms like Reddit. This suggests a desire for more curated and structured spaces to share side projects and receive feedback.

“SES is on the list once volume actually needs it. Right now Workspace is enough and I'm still learning deliverability on one domain before I add another pipe.”
“Your project looks publicly less than 3 months old. Such projects are required to be added to the weekly Megathread pinned to this subreddit. Only in the current “New Project Megathread”, you may post projects that are younger than 3 months (measured by first public presence, e.g. git commit, social media post, etc.) This Week’s Megathread”
“Ditto. I have a repo with one star but I don't consider it successful, it was a reciprocal star. Let us measure success from a sense of accomplishment instead of stars.”
“Yeah, just read about it (and many other disastrous announcements) on r/modnews and r/redditdev . I'm seriously considering spinning up a server somewhere and revert back to the old days of forums or go modern and have a federated platform like Mastodon or Bluesky.”
“It's fine in well-moderated subs, but I wonder if this (and many others like it) have been abandoned, and they've turned into a free-for-all. I plan to write a [Meta] post about it at some point...”
“Thanks for sitting with this, genuinely useful. On the seeds: it's a mix, some are seed posts from me to get the feed started, others are real users already. On field experts: the identity cachet isn't the draw here, and that's by design. This is actually a place for an expert to prove their competency and judgment blind, with no name or reputation to lean on, just the quality of the feedback itself. That's a different kind of proof than a portfolio or a title, and it's one m”
“yeah getting buried on page 30 of directories is painfully real, the visual approach makes way more sense”
“This looks good! I hope you keep up the good work. I like how it functions. You captured what I want in a task manager. :D Some initial observations: Easier way to delete project besides deleting them in the folder structure. Hopefully, you can also be able to modify the position in dashboard itself or maybe specific views.”
❤️ Feel free to shit-talk me whenever you feel that changes.
“Right now just what you describe, the idea and audience. It doesn't know where you've already posted. Thanks for pointing it out, that's a real gap. If someone already tried three subreddits and got nothing, the tool should weight that instead of suggesting the same ones again. Not built yet, going on the list.”
“I see a lot of issues, rather than me listing them, you pasting them into an LLM, and then later on running into the same issues; I would use this - Ensure you have a proper design system in place and ask your agent to audit your design with the skills enabled. The difference will be night and day. I'm not asking you to blindly trust me; I'm assuming you use GitHub so feel free to roll back if you don't like it!”
“Your post/comment has been determined to be a low-effort post or comment. This includes title-only posts, easily searchable questions, vague/open-ended discussion prompts, LLM generated posts or comments, and posts/comments that do not provide enough context for meaningful replies or discussion.”

“I have! But again i was against the wall and worked fast, expected bugs its ok it will be fixed at the end”
“Anytime! I tend not to look at usernames most of the time myself and I'd wager most folks are the same. I don't think (in this instance) you were downvoted as they perceived you speaking as an authority. I think you were downvoted simply because you *correctly speak against Agile being Project Management. It's such a cult that I've honest to god seen people be terminated outright for not drinking the kool-aid. It happens on any corporate sub when someone points out the glaring pr”
“Did I ask for a one man army? No. I asked for you to link your linkedin on your website. Git? really? Why wouldn't you just snapshot for release? You said you are busy... Nvm lol I'm not doing this. Wish you the best! I still stand by my statement. No-one on here should be using your software until you offer trust signals”
“Honestly, I like the idea. The community voting mechanism could be interesting to prototype.”
Are we allowed to keep pitching ideas? I'm bored too on a road trip
Here we go again. Let me guess you built the consensus website
“Idk if this was discussed before im jsut rageposting/ranting but I think im done with public devlogging. It used to be great for getting feedback and building a community. Now youre literally just handing your project to assholes on a silver platter. People just are running scrapers on every devlog, YT video, dlscord servers, tweets etc. The second you post a cool mechnaic or art style.. they scrape it. Feed it into AI tools, clone it, and drop a copy on itch or steam or whatever the fuck mobi”
“Yep! Self promotion in a Reddit where self promotion isn’t wanted! Glad you unblocked me, must have been bothering you”
NIce. Already enjoying using it. Super easy to use so far.
“Which ones I'm in are invite only through people I've worked with, so I can't hand out links. Look for the ones tied to whatever stack you build on, runcloud and wordpress communities have a few, and the paid ones are usually the ones worth being in.”
“People love shitting on some projects without even running them in recommended settings and understanding what's the target demographic for the project xD I agree it's not completely lobotimized, but it's not perfect either. Still usable, and still a notch above similar model footprints.”
“No worries, they are your projects so you get to do with them what you want. I could do next to none of this.”
“sounds awesome, but you overestimate my abilities :) i'll keep it in mind though, for when i get better at this”
“This inspired me to work on it today, so it will at least be improved today, just not perfect yet :)”
“It is dead. That's why I created plain flamelens.dev to really get a testing community going.”
“The parking lot part I'm not sure about. This one only exists because I had a bunch of other projects going. I had no idea it would be the one that worked, it was the least serious thing I'd built. If I'd picked one thing to focus on a year ago I'd have picked something else and I'd still be polishing it. Maybe focus once something is actually pulling. Before that I think the pile is doing the work.”
Can't see the reply because it has been removed by moderator :(
https://github.com/swstikk/unicorn_final i am working on this
I know you're full of shit because there's no such thing as perfect code.
“You could add a click counter, clicks per minute, leaderboards, money given out so far, top prizes, click upgrades. Just a few ideas..”
“yeah, we ran into this too. tried doing it manually across a few accounts and it got pretty messy fast. XGrowth made it easier to keep up with conversations people were already having without turning the whole thing into spam”
“I genuinely think Tailwind is for people who simply can't bother to learn how to set up (s)css in a modern project properly.”
“Thank you. That's the general idea. Thank you for trying to test it out I will investigate the issue. Thank you for the heads up and thank you again.”
“I’m kinda the same lol, I’d rather spend 6 hours building something than 20 mins figuring out how to post about it. Been messing with XGrowth to find people already talking about problems related to what I’m building and just reply when I actually have something useful to add. Way less awkward than trying to become a content guy overnight 🙂↕️”
“All of us have a dev environment, but there are a lucky few who have a separate prod environment.”
“This is such an informative process of naming your company, I hv named my projects aftr my favorite childhood parks 😂 😂”
“This is unfortunate but true. I do think it has to stop though, we’ve wasted so much time rewriting crap and gotten no real long term benefit from any of that work, it’s all just been throw away. Like decades of it. smh…”
“Man wix really does trap you in there whether you like it or not. No real export beyond a static dump and even that is basically useless for editing You could rebuild it with a decent theme in a weekend if the content is light. The AI idea actually works for the copy and layout but you still need to wire up the domain and hosting”
