“So for the ~20 years you were in this role before you started on Adderall, how did you do your job? Or anything in life? Were your notes just always over 24hrs late? You must have been getting writeups all the time. /s Here's my…”

“Non-sterile compounding tech here ( for now, Im waiting for my probational period to pass to start sterile compounding at my work). I also have 5 years experience in non sterile compounding pharmacy prior to this job. Not even 3 months in, I feel disgusted. We work in the lab but no one bother putting on the PPE. No lab coat, putting on gloves only if its convenient. Some show up to work in the lab with flip flops! Sterile tech never cover her hair, wear face mask, or wear shoes cover. So when I”
“Hello all; might be a lengthy post ahead. Looking for advice for my wife’s situation who is a pharmacist that is not active on Reddit. She is currently a pharmacy manager at a retail grocery store making $80/hr working full time in NC, USA. She works 12hr days (9a-9p 2 days on 2 days off but if it falls on a weekend she’ll work Friday through Sunday). She gets 20 days PTO accrued at the end of the year, some company stock options, no 401k match. She also currently works at the busiest store of t”

“Currently working at CVS and recently got offered a position at an independent pharmacy. They fill about 100 scripts/ day (have multiple locations) at my location I’ll be the only pharmacist, with a tech. 30 minute commute, no weekends, 9-5.. BUT they stated I wouldn’t get benefits until after a year… idk how to feel about that. Also stated that health insurance is available but the employees don’t use it ? Everything else is nice but Those are bummers for me. Going a year without benefits is a”
“How many errors involving controlled substances before you get fired. Just had my manager reach out about two meds. One I forgot to waste and one I forgot to chart as given. Feeling very defeated but will be more vigilant about charting going forward. Definitely a wake up call. submitted by /u/TouristFair1995 [link] [comments]”

“It was one of those rare times when all my prescription medications all needed to be filled at once. I recently had to change pharmacies (the previous had a drive-through, which offered some anonymity). The new pharmacy, I literally had to limp in (because no drive through) and picked up 9 Rxs, some were three month supplies). A man about 55-60 behind me asked if those were all for me (a woman in my 40’s with several health/mental health issues. I also was recently was injured on the job). I tur”
“Somehow when I was filling a couple baskets of c2s during the last half hour I was interrupted constantly and when the cc were off next day PM realized I had filled BOTH generic adderal 10 AND 15mg. It should only have been 10mg. Yesterday the PM searched the bins and found the 10mg and realized the 15mg had been sold to the patient. We called and asked her to bring back, gift card offer etc. She's been taking it. 😬 She felt in no rush to come at all. Apparently at some point I had changed”
“I’m a new grad pharmacist who just started fellowship a few weeks ago, and I’m really struggling. I could really use some advice or perspective from pharmacists who have gone through similar transitions. I knew it would take time to adjust, but I already feel overwhelmed. I came into fellowship with little industry experience, so I expected there to be a learning curve, but I don’t think I realized how different the transition from pharmacy school to industry would be. I feel like materials are”
“I am a pharmacist in Canada and it’s interesting to me to see the differences between us and the US in regards to drug scheduling. Would love to hear input on this! I will post the list below of common differences that I am aware of. OTC or Sched 2 (behind counter) in Canada but requires Rx in the US: Methocarbamol Oral fluconazole (single dose for vaginal candidiasis) Tylenol #1 and cough syrup with low dose codeine Dicyclomine Requires Rx in Canada but OTC in the US: Phenazopyridine Adapalene”
“I’m currently a pharmacist in San Francisco, and have been dealing with mental health issues (anxiety) that have drastically affected my ability to work a full 8 hours. I’m averaging about 3 hours a day. I spoke with my psychiatrist and he’s willing to fill out the TDP loan forgiveness application. (Total and Permanent Disability discharge) My question is: if my application does get approved, and my loans forgiven, will the board of pharmacy be notified or can they find out? And is there a risk”
“Hello all, was wondering if anyone can shed some light on what its like to work in one of these MFC's as a pharmacist. Currently work in LTC with no patient interaction, so not in a situation where I am escaping retail hell, but I am looking for other opportunities. What does the work flow look like? What are the responsibilities of the RPH? Is it chill or is it high stress? Can RPH sit down, or are they standing all day? How does it compare to retail? How is the metrics/micromanaging? Overa”

“Hello all, This is a long story but my company services various facility types for their medication needs. One client we have (we have several facilities from them ) also requires a pharmacist on site. It is a full time position. We have had someone able to do this role for the past 8 years. The issue we face is the pto coverage. We are unable to get people to do this because our main location is 3 hours away. The state is new york, around nyc area. Are there any companies that we can contract w”
“No one in my pharmacy had heard about it until Monday when I was like, "Have you guys heard about this??" And got some horrified looks. The pharmacists got the official memo later that day 😬 Please tell me we aren't the only pharmacy having a problem with this thing. The amount of people who have come in insisting they can now get their Mounjaro (or insert other non-covered GLP-1 here) for their diabetes (or insert other non-covered indication here) through it is INSANE. Had a doc”
“Hi There! I know this is not *technically* pharmacist related but I am a PharmD (graduated in 2012) that is considering switching careers. For those of you that did switch to PA or NP, or are considering switching, which one did you pick and why? I am a little overwhelmed and unsure of my options when looking at programs for both degrees. I know the fact that my graduate degree is 14 years old might matter when considering a new school? Also, I do not have a formal bachelors degree as I complete”
“I work in QC for a start up compound pharmacy in the US. One of my responsibilities is keeping up to date with who leaves/terminated and who gets hired. I noticed most techs leave after a 6months -2 years but pharmacist stay for years. We have some great techs that make little to no errors leave after a few years. The turn around rate is pretty bad & i believe our pharmacy is a really good company to work for. I have a feeling it’s because of the pay, even though we pay them the average for”
“June has probably been the most mentally exhausting month I've had since becoming a pharmacist. I've worked the past six consecutive weekends, only getting this weekend off except for working Friday. On top of my regular schedule, my district manager and neighboring district managers asked if I could pick up additional shifts to help cover staffing shortages. I said yes each time and ended up working six extra shifts in June. Between the long stretches and extra coverage, I've defini”
“In a previous post I wrote about giving my patient potassium XR 20 mEq but crushing it on accident. I remembered 12 hours after that same shift my preceptor gave me the okay to crush a different patient’s meds too (Metoprolol XR 25 and Sacubitril/valsartan). The worst part of this is when I reported the second med error, I was informed I was being let go, which is fine…I’m not cut out for this profession. However, I can’t sit the uncertainty of not knowing if my patients were okay. My metoprolol”
“If you ever see this sign on the window of a Pharmacy premises it’s a complete and utter lie. Scapegoating the pharmacist again. It has nothing to do with the horrendous working conditions, passive aggressive bullying, insanely unsocial working hours, multitasking to the extremes, getting abused by patients and corporate, weekend work, zero hour contracts, ridiculous danger to the pharmacist and detrimental impact on a pharmacy career and mental health if something went wrong. I forgot to mentio”
“Mad respect for my pharmacy. They go thru some shit, have insane productivity, yet get very little appreciation. My pharmacist is so kind and brilliant. She’s always happy to answer questions. But ngl I feel like most of my Rx questions can be googled. So I want to pick her brain a little, in the most beneficial and respectful way. I know she’d appreciate the discussion. Ideas? :) submitted by /u/Beneficial-Bus-3377 [link] [comments]”
“I'm a pharmacist approaching my 2-year anniversary in practice this September, and I recently found out about a dispensing error involving a prednisone taper that I verified. The prescription was written for prednisone 20 mg tablets with directions of: 40 mg daily for 3 days 30 mg daily for 3 days 20 mg daily for 3 days 10 mg daily for 3 days Unfortunately, the prescription was entered and verified as: 4 tablets daily for 3 days 3 tablets daily for 3 days 2 tablets daily for 3 days 1 tablet”
“Hey all. I come from a small European country, flooded with pharmacies. I used to be an employee for indies, then managed to open my own small store. I sold it eventually after a huge burnout from which I haven't fully recovered yet (I was working almost 70h/wk, with all the competition pressure from other brick mortar and e pharmacies, with staff shortages, with low profit margins, extremely demanding customers, bureaucracy, rising costs etc) Of course that wasn't a sustainable life I c”
“At my pharmacy I would say we average 2-3 errors per day that end up making it through past the selling point. This includes everything from minor things like sig just being typed wrong and bigger deals like the wrong med being dispensed. Obviously we can’t be perfect with the sheer volume we do (400+ script/day store), but was looking for advice on how to be more efficient with the incident reports since they are time consuming to deal with. I feel like the time wasted on doing them makes us ru”
