“Dear community, I graduated with a PhD in Genetics/Molecular Biology in Morocco about 10 months ago. I made the mistake of not looking for a postdoc before graduating, and I'm now struggling to find opportunities. Where I come from, there are very few postdoc positions, and most are unfunded. I've been applying to advertised offers, but despite putting a lot of effort into each application, I never seem to get past the first screening stage. I know that coming from a research environment”

I want to apply for the NSERC CGRS D this cycle, and since I'm registered here, Should i choose option C, even i wont do my phd here (Option C: Currently registered in a degree program at a Canadian institution with a quota → apply through that institution) From NSERC's award holder's guide, it look”

“I'm a second-year PhD student. Last year, I applied to Committee 196 (Psychology) and ranked 68th out of 113 applicants, with scores of 4 out of 6 in both categories. What can I do to strengthen my application and improve my chances this year? submitted by /u/Dear_Web_1096 [link] [comments]”
“Hi all! I’m a doctoral student in Canada and I am applying to the CIHR CGRS D scholarship this year (on Tuesday lol). There seems to be some missing information about how references in the Research Proposal are allowed to be formatted? Currently, mine are smaller font and in nature citation style (without titles) to make them as short as possible. I don’t know however if this is allowed??? Could any successful applicants from last round share any advice 🙏 submitted by /u/MannerOver3”

“hi guys, i am an msc graduate from india, applying for phd positions in europe. i have seen a lot of templates and videos on applications and cv stuff online and took some guidance from my seniors but iam not very sure about how professors in countries like germany, austria, nordic countries, etc (known for very reputed insitutes for research) evaluate and give preference to papers and grades. i am not aiming for usa, australia and very high ranking insitutes i am mostly targeting heavily based”
“I recently completed my master's degree with a good CGPA and am looking for a PhD position in protein design and dynamics. I have experience in rational protein design and protein dynamics, with tools like Rosetta and Gromacs for studying protein-ligand interactions. I am looking for a PhD project with a hybrid set-up where I can explore both the experimental and computational aspects. I am a beginner in Python and willing to learn more if the project demands it. I am also interested in lear”
“Hello, everyone. I posted previously requesting the community to critique my CV for clinical PhD applications in Canada (I am a citizen). I have made a ton of changes, and greatly appreciated all feedback. I have hummed and hawed for weeks and believe I am finally finished and ready to start contacting potential supervisors!!! I come to you, one last time, begging for critiques ( you will not hurt my feelings) :) I redacted/blurred identifying information Notes: - I compacted all 4 pages. In the”
“Hello, I'm currently in the corrections phase of my PhD in Machine Learning for Explainable AI. I have been applying for post-docs since beginning of year with no luck, I keep getting rejections. Some of the post-docs were very clear extensions of my PhD research and I still could not get an interview. I wanted to know, if there are any other ways to secure a post-doc or any helpful tips or advice for getting one. submitted by /u/BrotherNo61 [link] [comments]”
“I am a doctoral candidate in nanomedicine/pharmacology, currently in the UK. I have been applying to several postdocs while waiting for my viva. And I haven't gotten a positive response...yet. Any advice on where I might be going wrong? I am so tired and disillusioned by the whole process. Any advice or words of wisdom from those with experience are welcome. Desperately need guidance. submitted by /u/SydisX [link] [comments]”
“For Canada: Hello, has anyone here applied directly to agency (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR) for the CGRS-D? If so, how did that go for you? I am curious because most apply through their university & get filtered that way. But I’m not at an institution right now so I must apply directly. I don’t know if bypassing that institutional filter gives any advantage because the national level of competition freaks me out. Like besides consulting a few people like previous and potential supervisor for feedback”
