“I keep on seeing everyone say how scary broken toilets are. Is this something that appears dangerous or is it just a small line?”

“I grew up in the south working on mobile homes so I've seen some almost impossible stuff, I was just making sure that the tank gasket was not wedged in there somehow between the flange and the tank.”

“Genius idea. This should be part of standard broken toilet advice. "Change toilet immediately . Also: buy a mobility seat to put over your toilet until its fixed (if it ever is) so youre not tempted to sit directly on the porcelain pucker puncturer in the meantime”

Several users reported cracked toilet tanks, requiring replacement and causing water damage. One user specifically mentioned the tank 'busted all over the place,' highlighting the mess and inconvenience.

“I’ve had one plumber who came out and did some work and he did it wrong. I think he did it wrong on purpose so that I would call him back to fix it when it started leaking. So I did call him back and…”

“(Sorry it's dirty) I saw this today and told my partner that we really shouldn't use this toilet at all. I said that before we can switch it out (this weekend) we have to stand up peeing and use another toilet in the basement if we need to sit down. He said it's not a big deal and it's a one in a million that it will crack. I said that that doesn't matter, if it breaks, we will likely die. Am I overreacting? I'm feeling very anxious about this and even though I'm not”

“This time around it's not "do I replace" though, it's, "I have been trying to get a plumber out here to do it, but am having trouble arranging that, how urgent is this, wjat are my options" kinda deal.”

“Do we need to stop using and replace this toilet like immediately? I’m just learning about toilet cracks being super dangerous from someone posting about their bowl having a hairline crack! submitted by /u/Sad-Cricket6319 [link] [comments]”

“You need a new toilet”

r/PlumbingAug 22

“Hi, I just noticed a small hairline crack in our Toto toilet. The crack is 2 inches long and is above the water in the bowl. The toilet is two years old. At first, I thought it was some type of stain that I’d missed, but it’s a crack. Is this any type of cause for concern? In other words, do I need to jump up and buy a new toilet? Thanks very much for any advice. EDIT: Talked to customer service at Toto (they were great, BTW) and they felt strongly that it was not a crack, but a hard water stain”

“Edit: not wall hung it's a rear discharge toilet . We've had plumbers come in every 3 months to snake our line because of constant flooding. But when they put back the toilet it was leaking, reported it to management they came back and 'fixed' it. But still was leaking they probably came by like 3 times. We decided to take matters in our own hand we changed out everything in the tank including bolts, and the water hose. And it was still leaking our only assumption was the wax or”

“Hi everyone! My mum thinks that this is a "cosmetic crack" and that the toilet is still fine to use. I think the toilet is probably dangerous to keep using. Can anyone please give a extra opinion on the crack? submitted by /u/Yui-Nakan0 [link] [comments]”

“I just moved in. I’ve seen other posts with bigger cracks in the toilet so is this as dangerous? If so, how should I word it to the management since I don’t think they’ll take it seriously? submitted by /u/bergersandfries [link] [comments]”

“Having some new tile put down in two bathrooms and the plumber discovered the following: Issue #1: When resetting the toilets that one of the toilet flanges (plastic) is cracked on the top left side. The flange is a little over 5-years-old from a new build. They want to replace the whole flange. He said they could just put the wax ring down and it could hold, but wouldn't recommend it. Issue #2: The plumber is strongly suggesting I replace all of my water on/off valves (the plastic push and”
