“Uk plumber here, and I’m assuming that’s the Hot out side of the water heater? If so why do you guys put a rubber membrane bladder on the side that will get damaged the quickest? Just interested as we have Ao Smith heaters and stuff over here and they ( plus all closed loop hot…”

“Tankless is good if you need an endless supply of hot water or have a space issue. However, they cost a lot more than tankless, more to wire, and more to maintain. They need regular service to eliminate mineral buildup. Also, temp rise is also an issue.”

“sorry man I really don’t know what to look for the gas line😭 as I’m looking, there’s just one tank over there and I don’t know where to look for all the gas line information you were asking… also update, yesterday I called in gas company people to increase the gas pressure for me just a little bit so it’s within 8-10 water column like it should be… Then the same thing happened again, hot water worked fine yesterday, but took WAY long to load up today again…(I was taking cold shower, then by the”

“Hey guys the time has come to make the switch over tankless. I was just wondering on what you guys think is the best tankless setup for my home. We are looking at 1960’s 3 bedroom 2 bath single story in Southern California. We can re do the vent and the exterior is easily accessible as the current set up is in a garage. The house is rather small so there is no need for a pump. What is best tankless to go with in terms of quality, longevity, and efficiency. Any input is much appreciated! 👍”

“Do the expansion tanks need to be supported?”

r/Plumbing14d ago

“Yeah, thats outside my wheelhouse. I understand their general concept, but I’ve got no experience with expansion tanks.”

r/Plumbing15d ago

“Not really sure how an expansion tank would be helpful/required but every manufacturer/region has their preferences.”

“None of the brands stick out as particularly good or bad in my mind. Whatever you can get for a reasonable price when/where you need it.”

Does Anyone know any downsides to this type of Water Pressure Tank? It has no Bladder and says it uses the same material as baby bottles? submitted by /u/VanJosh_Elanium [link] [comments]”

“You have the model number and the name you should be able to get a replacement tank for it, I’ve gotten some from my customers in the past. It’s really not that hard to change out. I believe you could do it. One thing though be very careful removing that one if you haven’t already, that ceramic will cut you like a razor and watch it doesn’t break on you more.”

“Hey there, if you don't mind sharing, how did you end up dimensioning your system? Did you end up cascading 2 tanks?”

Go tankless as others have suggested.

Try measuring without the door. Might even be able to take off the trim.

“On 1.5inch gas pipe? Thats not going anywhere. These protections however are about failure mechanisms. If that expansion tank fails and starts to hold water I personally wouldnt want that much weight hanging from anything else. Eventhough the pipe can take it i wouldnt want to risk that triggering a weak point somewhere in a joint of the gas line. Get the vent looked at too. From the picture it looks like someone tried to make a custom vent that has gaps. Add a CO alarm.”

“I'm in the process of creating custom plumbing for a second FX6 i just got. It will be the second on my 75g tank, primarily to skim the surface. Here's a rough draft of the final version. Since the fluval surface skimmer isn't made for the FX filters and will put back pressure on the motor, i added a ball valve and regular intake and will play with the ball valve to find the sweet spot for suction of the surface without stressing the motor, and it'll have some regular filtration”
