“Our puppy (6 months old doberman) will bark non stop when she’s in her kennel or in her x-pen if somebody is around her and not giving her attention. her crate area is in the living room which is connected to our dining room, so we can’t sit and have dinner or sit on the couch without her constantly barking at us from the x-pen. I also thought she was doing better at going potty outside, but she has times where she’s still pooping and peeing in her kennel. we take her out regularly, we actually”

“I already made a post on r/Vent about my neighbors complaining about my puppy barking, but would also like some perspective on this from other puppy owners. My puppy is a 9 month old adolescent, but otherwise a very calm and well-behaved dog, and so far he has only had two cca. one-hour incidents of howling/barking very early in the puppyhood. I’ve been putting a huge amount of effort into working with him since day one, and the progress is very noticeable, but he’s now entering puberty and yest”

“Our english bulldog is a NIGHTMARE. From around 1-4 AM, she has barking fits at least once a night where she sits and barks for HOURS if she’s not stopped. She is exercised until she’s too tired to keep playing during the day- though we don’t force her to do anything, so I’m sure stimulation isn’t the issue. She has a brother to play with as well to provide variety. She has been crate trained since she was a puppy, but has ALWAYS had an issue with going potty in the crate, no matter how soon aft”

“My six year old cockapoo stayed at a boarding facility for a week while I was on vacation. Since coming home two weeks ago his bark is completely different. It’s very quiet and squeaky instead of his normal bark. He’s a barker so usually when he comes back the hoarseness goes away completely in a day or two but it’s still not back to normal He is vaccinated and is otherwise acting completely normal. He’s eating and drinking fine and has no cough and is full of energy I’m wondering if it’s normal”

“Yesterday we noticed our 1yo boy pembrooke corgi smacking his lips, licking his lips, and grinding his teeth. Almost like what you would do if you had a bad taste in your mouth? He will NOT let us open his mouth and reacts very negatively (which is abnormal). Makes me think something is really hurting him. We wondered if he cut the top of his mouth on a bone or got something stuck in his teeth? Has anyone experienced this? We are taking him to the vet today but wanted to see if this has happened”

“Hi! My dog is a 2 year old Airedale. Ever since he was a pup he would howl every night with a rare exception. At first me and my family thought it was just separation anxiety, but then we saw him do it when he was sleeping at day. He sleeps calmly, no running or whining, then suddenly sits up, and starts howling really loud. Sometimes we find him walking around in the dark, looking all scared, tail down, sometimes he just sits there. Either way he calms down after a while and goes back to sleep.”

“Like I said, I moved and my dog just doesn’t stop barking. We live in the second floor and he’ll still bark if someone opens the front door two levels below. If my roommate makes any noise, like going to the toilet during the night, he’ll go crazy. I’m not sure how to desensitise him to the noise bc it’s not just one but everything. And we’ve also noticed he barks more if I’m in the apartment . If not, he won’t even bark if she entered the apartment or if anyone closes the doors louder. Previous”

“My Dog, a Rottweiler Mastiff mix, of 4 years has recently begun whining to no end and even howling whenever he's not getting attention or what he wants. This is a very recent development and I'm not sure sure what caused it to start. He has always had separation anxiety but since I'm home almost all day every day now I don't know why his anxiety would be getting worse I currently work from home so I can't have him howling non stop while I work even if he's in his kennel.”

“My girl is 6 months old. She is doing great with training and all. However, she barks at things she cannot see, just hears. I cannot leave my bedroom window open because almost any sound triggers her. She can't see out the window as its on the second floor of my home. I would love any and all recommendations to turn this switch off in her. TY! submitted by /u/DJ1962 [link] [comments]”

“Our 6 month old Goldendoodle has no barking issues during the day and doesn’t really ever bark towards people or other dogs when we are on walks/drives. But, every night around 7:30-8pm, she starts barking at every light outside, small noise, and her reflection in our front door and windows. It is to the point we have to be in our room away from everything and going to bed to get her to stop. Has anyone else dealt with this and have a good solution? Right now if she starts barking and I’m not in the room with her, I’ll wait until she’s completely stopped for a couple minutes and then go to her. “My sweet pup has starting barking very very early in the morning (5:00 am) and sometimes even all night. Last night was one of those nights…she started late at night and genuinely did not stop. I fell asleep for some of the night but woke for good around 5:00 and brought her upstairs to lay by me (she stopped barking once I got up and was moving around so I felt fine about this.) “Our golden retriever puppy has been pretty great for the past 3 weeks but recently he has started to demand bark a lot more and I think he's learned it. We usually let him roam around in his pen and keep a door open to the terrace outside, which has a grass potty that he was using consistently. The issue now is, he barks and growls IMMEDIATELY upon release, as he is scrambling to his food bowl. I’ve read online about how Schnauzer’s are one of the most vocal breeds and they alert bark to strangers and other things they may think will threaten the territory, which is nice, barking at the front door when a stranger knocks or rings the doorbell is fine and natural for any dogs. My Doberman was really hard to potty train, I don’t know why, maybe when she was younger her previous owners didn’t teach her properly?
