“So, we have a Chihuahua/Terrier/Min Pin mix who is 5 months old today. She’s been great so far and healthy. Every time we go to the vet, they always push for us to wait to spay her until after her first heat cycle. My husband and I typically just agree and move on but now I’m…”
“I took my dog to the vet on Monday and I am wondering if I should call back and get her seen again. She is a 1 year old Chihuahua, 4.8 lbs, and got spayed in March (after her first heat). She was sensitive (growling, not wanting to be touched) after the spay, but I thought it…”
“Hi, I’m having trouble with my 9 week old chihuahua mix that we adopted from a rescue exactly a week ago. I’m at a loss and completely devastated and seeking advice or if anyone has seen this before? My heart is breaking for him and there doesn’t seem to anything wrong with him…”

She was sensitive (growling, not wanting to be touched) after the spay, but I thought it was just the stress of the procedure. She was prescribed trazodone for about 1 week, and a pain medication for 2. She has never liked being picked up, so I thought she just needed space. In late April, a friend who watched”

I’m at a loss and completely devastated and seeking advice or if anyone has seen this before? My heart is breaking for him and there doesn’t seem to anything wrong with him. Picked him up Saturday - a happy, healthy baby. He had his first vet appointment on Monday for updated vaccine (parvo, bordetella, dewormer). On Tuesday night he started acting like he had lower energy than usual so kept”
“My mini dachshund was spayed 5 days ago and managed to wriggle out of the suits and cone. Luckily we have been able to have someone with her at all times since she had it done and can until day 11 but then I need to go back to work and she will be by herself for a good part of the day. I’m worried she will do damage while no one is watching her. Will she be healed enough to not mess up the stitches? submitted by /u/ZealousidealStory882 [link] [comments]”
“I just neutered my male dog yesterday. He's recovering quick. I am planning to spay my female dog next week but I'm kinda hesitating because of the risks. Can you share your good experiences with it and also the pros? She already gave birth last 2023 and she really doesn't know how to give birth so I'm also nervous with her getting pregnant. Info: 3 years old F Shih Tzu. We will be using gas anesthesia throughout the surgery. Cbc, Blood Chem & Xray will be the tests administe”
“Hello I need some advice on recovery time after a spay surgery! My 12 lb 1 year old Chihuahua mix has finally done her time!!! It’s been so hard to not get her to jump and run around and get the zoomies. I’ve kept her as calm as I could and her incision is healing nicely! They used dissolvable sutures so I didn’t have to return. I was able to get this spay done for free from my local animal shelter but since it was free there’s not really a follow up or a vet I could talk to. I know she still ha”
“My 19-month-old Labrador mix has developed two spots on her inner thighs opposite each other where her skin touches when she's laying down on her side. I noticed it this morning. I occasionally take her to the dog park but she hasn't been there in about 10 days. She has not interacted with other dogs since then, staying in her fenced-in yard. She is a spayed female 60 pounds in suburban Chicago (Villa Park) Would anyone know what this? Here are links to a pictures: https://drive.google.c”
“My dog who just turned 10 yo on Wednesday has been put on pimotab and furosemide for heart failure. She has been house trained her entire life and never ever had any accidents. She’s been on the medication for about a week or so now. But today, she wet herself all over herself while resting and didn’t seem to even be aware. The door to the garden was open and she’s never ever not gone out when needed to go. It was as if she didn’t even know she had to. She was quite confused after. Is this commo”
“I’ve been working with a specialist vet for several years and if weren’t for her clinical trials, including one my dog was in, my dog wouldn’t have lived as long as she did. She has always gone above and beyond even though she is not our primary vet; she has remained involved in my dog’s care since her trial participation nearly 5 years ago. Currently, my dog is hospitalized and it’s very possible that I will lose my dog. This specialist vet has been overseeing her care while in the crucial care”
“I've been getting a written prescription every 6 months for Propalin for my dog, which I use to buy the medicine online. Today I received a call from my vet saying that from now on, my dog will need to visit for a checkup every 6 months before the prescription is issued. I haven't had to do this for the last 2 years, has there been a change in the law? The checkup will be a paid appointment so it's yet another added cost and I would therefore like to check that it is definitely neede”
“My 7 month old pit-mix was seen last minute at the vet yesterday evening. He had been very lethargic, and just not acting like himself for about 2 days. He was still eating and drinking, but his pooping slowed down yesterday to an abnormal level for him. This set me off and we went to the vet. His ultrasound showed some dilation of the bowel rings, so they did X-Rays to rule out a foreign body. His X-Ray showed that he was constipated, and he was kept overnight to be observed incase it wasn’t ab”
“Hi!! Apologies for the hard to see video, it’s the only one she would let me take before growling at me!! (also i know the green is from the tattoo/ink to mark she was spayed) my cat chicken got spayed yesterday at a clinic(i was uneasy about it but they had good reviews and a friend of mine had a positive experience there, our regular vet also recommended it as a cost effective option, $200 vs 2k) they only gave us one dose of pain meds to administer last night after the surgery. she was pacing”
“my cat (8 years old, male, ginger cat, 5.8kg) has a red bruise between his anus and what used to be his testicles. help. should I be concerned? if it was any other day I would take him to the vet immediately but I don’t have time in the next 2 days and I don’t have anyone that can take him so now I’m freaking out because I’m scared it’s something serious. he’s behaving completely normally by the way. he’s running around and meowing like normal (he’s a loud cat lol) and doing everything he usuall”
“Hello, we really appreciate any help you can provide, thanks! We have an 18y chubby cat who has chronic pancreatitis. Every few weeks it seems like he feels pretty bad and stops eating and hides. We invariably take him to the vet and his fPL comes back high but since he’s already on daily SQ fluids, gabapentin, maropitant, and ondansetron, our vet always says there’s nothing else to do for him. He also has early kidney disease and chronic constipation so we feed him canned Purina chicken pate pr”
