“I tell you what - you pull out the BBQ and I’ll bring the steaks. 🥩 If that’s your first lawn ever taking care of, you’re doing fantastic. It ain’t rocket science… proper watering (which you’ve figured out), the right plant (grass) for the area, some fertilizer as needed, don’t cut it too short, and aerate/overseed/top-dress as necessary (which shouldn’t be often if you keep to the other steps). “It’s probably fastest and easiest to just put a pair of gloves and and pull all the dead shit off each plant. Wouldn’t take me but 5 minutes to do all of them like that..”
“Get a hori hori knife, a mini pick, and a trench shovel. They're designed to take abuse and are what I use 99% of the time with my clay soil. I sometimes use a garden claw tool for weeds with deep roots, but the one I have is ancient and I don't know if newer ones are as solid.”

“I have a backyard that has substantially less nutrients and organic matter than the front. When the house was built it seems like the basement was spread around the back yard but the front still had decent top soil. The back needs quite a bit more NPK and iron to look anywhere close to the front. So it might not be misapplication.”
