YouTube Viewers Hit by Constant Buffering

Users across various devices (phones, tablets, TVs) are consistently encountering buffering, slow loading, and playback interruptions on YouTube, despite having premium subscriptions and stable internet connections. These issues persist across different apps, browsers, and network conditions, suggesting a problem originating from YouTube's infrastructure rather than individual user setups.

I have a question for you all and I don’t know if it’s my internet or if it’s YouTube’s servers but has it been slow for any of you recently? Because YouTube for me has been REALLY slow for the past couple of days. When…

I'm trying to watch a video but it randomly stops and returns to the beginning and downgrades the quality to 360p and it locks it (grays out the option). And this also happens when ad finishes playing... submitted by /u/Ordinary_Car_Driver [link] [comments]

This is an issue that seems to happen every so. I have YouTube Premium, I'm on a Pixel 10 Pro XL, and this only seems to happen when connected to Bluetooth. I'll start a video I want to listen to and, a few seconds after the screen locks, the video stops playing. I tried enabling my notifications for YouTube but, that didn't help. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/NomadicDragon [link] [comments]

I discovered that the iPhone's CPU or GPU lacks native support for YouTube's video codec, causing it to drop frames to prevent audio stuttering. You having the same problem, right? Just want to make sure that it’s not just my phone's problem.

r/youtube1d ago

I haven't experienced that one, but I have had moments where I click on a video and the screen is fully black (I use the app) while the audio plays just fine. I will sometimes require to go back to the home screen and retry the video, or I need to close the app entirely... It's strange to me.

I dont understand whats happening. It continues to buffer and load every 5 seconds even though my internet is very fast. I logged out and in again. I deleted the app and redownloaded. What can i do to fix it? submitted by /u/Inevitable-Ice-5061 [link] [comments]

Anyone else experienced constant buffering on every video on youtube lately? they will play for a little bit and then start buffering, which is weird because internet connection is working fine and speeds are good, but for some reason it always buffers for the past like week or so, another way to annoy adblock users or something? submitted by /u/PilkyO2RoundHead [link] [comments]

Greetings. I'm using a Poco X3. For the past couple of weeks, after an app update, the YouTube app has been lagging in the feed, at something like 3-5 fps. When you go to your library, watch later, or just scroll through your feed. But the videos themselves play fine. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it. I cleared the cache later, but it didn't help. It works fine in the Brave browser, just like on my PC. submitted by /u/daz1371 [link] [comments]

For about a year now I have noticed the shorts getting stuck loading for looooooooong times like 90% of the time, making a 30s short into a 3min watch. At first I thought it was my phone, but it was also happening to my wife. So I thought it could be something to do with my ISP, but it also happens while using mobile data. I recently had to travel and stay with my sister to take care of her, and she had the same thing happening on her phone. And it does not matter if I reinstall, clear cache or

Has anyone experienced this?. Everytime I try to cast to TV (the YouTube App) It works, but if you select a different video, it automatically disconnected, and have to select the device to cast again. [ UNLESS what you casted is in a playlist, then itll remain linked ] Before It was so easy, You connect to whatever device it is, a TV, fire stick, etc, then play whatever. And its ALWAYS connected until you disconnect it manually. There has to be a way to keep it connected. This is ridiculous. &#3

I wonder if anyone else has encountered this problem recently. I run two samsung androids, a S23FE and an older Note10 lite. Of late the queue has stopped advancing and stops once an individual video ends and only offers to replay it. Clearing the cache AND the data gets it going again but it stops again not long thereafter. Has anyone got any suggestions as I've tried all the Gemini suggestions to rectify this to no avail. submitted by /u/macolebrook [link] [comments]

Is it an Android TV, or are you using a Fire TV Stick or something? Need a bit more info. This isn't exactly the right sub for this.

I bought an iPhone 13 Pro recently and noticed that every time I watch videos in 60 fps, they randomly stutter, or sometimes after a few minutes drop to 30 fps for a few seconds. This really pisses me off since I bought a pretty powerful device that is supposed to handle 1080p 60 fps with no problems. It doesn’t show any frame drops in the debug menu, and it plays perfectly at 60 fps on my previous phone, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. submitted by /u/7ewn [link] [comments]

It's driving me nuts!! I'm on mobile trying to rewind a video when guess what!? I can't because youtube is being a D! It has to be, it lags whenever I scroll down on my tablet on YouTube. Like sometimes the thumbnails are set like the phone but then I scroll down and see what OP has before I scroll back up and its no longer like the phone version. I'm terrible at explaining stuff so forgive me. But it defiantly has to be a bug and I hope they fix it soon. Just looks ugly as hell.

r/youtube9d ago

I don't think this is a huge issue, nor is it an issue with the app itself; however I don't know how to solve it. I use a personal hotspot as wifi for my pc, and it's been great with everything, even Harbor. However, with Harbor, it only streams normally in a specific time of day (morning until noon), then by noon the speed caps at 60kb at most. Even when trying all sources, the speed is capped only for streaming, while other things I use internet for work completely fine and perfect even. Someo

For about a week Youtube has been almost unwatchable on iPad for me. Videos constantly stop and buffer for a while. It is like I am on extra slow internet connection. It works fine on PC. And on the same iPad all other streaming works fine. All speed test show internet connection as fast (200-300Mb) and stable. YouTube itself loads fine but as soon as I watch a video the time bar doesn’t move, the video buffers or lags, the time itself isn’t counting, random part in the video repeats itself like it’s rewinding every 2 minutes etc. I don’t know what’s happening! submitted by /u/awesomehuder [link] [comments]

For me be cause the buffering isn't fast enough, once it reaches the limit of the buffer the video loops to the start of it endlessly.

r/youtube11d ago

To preface this is win 11 25H2. I've been struggling to fix a problem with YouTube buffering when pausing and resuming on windows that was persistent across both chrome and Firefox and wanted to share my findings. Basically tried everything else normally recommended: cache clearing, any ad blockers off, changing media.suspend-bkgnd-video.enabled to false in Firefox, and turning off and on hardware acceleration in browser. nothing worked until I disabled hardware accelerated GPU scheduling in

Very recently Youtube has been constantly buffering when I open a new video. If I reload the page, then it works just fine. I'm on Firefox and I use Ublock Origin. I notice the "adds blocked" number on the UO extension badge go up every time it tries to buffer which happens fairly rapidly. Is there a fix for this? submitted by /u/stirfry213 [link] [comments]

I am on a newer device, both in terms of model and recently bought. I have no adblock, because I dont want to hurt creators revenue. Every single video I watch has extreme lag after ads, sometimes not even having the UI after. The only fix so far has been to close the app (using browser yt), and restarting it. No extensions of any kind, only one tab open. Sometimes it will black screen as well. Why might this happen? submitted by /u/SilentPossibility438 [link] [comments]

I’ve recently been having issues with YouTube videos in Safari (iOS 26.6). I normally use the YouTube web site in Safari instead of the YouTube app (because, let’s face it it’s terrible). But lately, the videos played via Safari will occasionally hang, and pressing Pause and then Play won’t resume playback. The only way to get the video to start playing again is to completely reload the page, which restarts the video at the beginning. Is anyone else having issues like this? The conspiracy theori

r/youtube14d ago

I thought it was just YT struggling as Shorts Buffer. Longer videos not loading and in general the app being a pain to use. But the millisecond I hit pause on my VPN, it loads instantly. They is a recent change within the last couple of months as it has been working fine for years before hand. Is this YT try to push people away from VPNs to help reinforce the Online safety Act? It's becoming very frustrating and I don't know how I can complain to YT about it submitted by /u/M

Yes, iPhone 17. It is most likely server updates for the new viewer count policy, most likely not rolled out into a mass update for all of YouTube users rendering the website totally unusable.

I am having this issue both on IPhone 17PM and IPad Pro M5. What I noticed is that a loophole to watch videos with this current bug is to download them through premium and that lets you bypass the something went wrong notice.

I'm not sure if this is a setting or a glitch. The phone is an S26 Ultra and I have YouTube Premium. The video plays and if the screen is turned off and the video finishes the moment the screen wakes up and the phone is unlocked the video replays on its own.
