“I welded a bit in high school and college in various automotive classes and such so I have some basic skills and knowledge running MIG, stick, and gas. I've been looking at off-road bumpers for my truck and everything prefab is in the $2k+ range, but there are some pre cut diy options for a fraction of this. My question is are there any low budget welders capable of getting decent penentration and leaving marginally clean welds on 1/4" steel? submitted by /u/DadSavagery [lin”

“Hey I picked up the berger 3 in 1 welder just to learn I've been practicing everyday the last 3 days. I've been adjusting it to be super hot ,cold I've used the machine settings, slowed down, done circles. This is at 100amps/wires speed and 15 amps on a 16 gauge plate of steel. But everything ends up like this. I'm using 0.30 Vulcan wire too. The stick welds turn out great it's just flux core that does that it's just like not puddling any advice would be appreciated thank”

“So I recently applied for a welding job at my place I work at now. I had an interview last week and they were asking me if I would be able to work in extreme weather. Like extreme cold and extreme heat, stupid me said yes but now I’m not sure. I know I’ll be able to handle the cold because I love the cold and I don’t feel like crap. But I’m worried I won’t be able to handle the extreme heat. One of the guys said it could get up to 150 degrees and now I’m worried and it’s all I’ve been thinking a”

“Hey everyone. Just looking for some advice. I’m looking to get myself a tig/stick welder. I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to either the Eastwood tig 220 ac/dc or the Arccaptain TIG200P ac/dc. Both have mixed reviews. Arccaptain with the lack of customer service/support and Eastwood with people saying it’s just a rebadged unit. Both of these units hit my budget limit. Yes, I’ve looked into primeweld tig 225x. Unfortunately $100-$200 (add ons, shipping and such) over what I can drop. Any help wo”

“I started college a few weeks ago for auto, but I have a welding class as part of it, it's been pretty good so far, the teacher is good The only problem is they ran out of new metal to practice on after the first week, now we just have a pile of rusty, welded, scrap metal to pick through They have a plasma cutter, a torch, and 1 grinder, for about 12 people to use, so it takes awhile to actually get any metal to weld Gotta find something that's half decent, cut it, and then grind enough”
